strange situation I must say on euro-dollar. technical picture pointing more and more to downside. fundamental-macro view pointing more n more to upside.
IMM data again doesnt show any change from previous week.
bulls keep 10 times bigger position against bears. even small fishes clearly long.
will wait for a week. probably this move up or down comes when option volatilities will start to climb higher----

Half of of GBP short hit at b/e - Took other half to book profit.
Move today seems again a top building one with low volume volatility intraday. Although now quick move to 1.9200 and a bit could be on the cards for Cable even though I am not confident and think it will stall around 1.9120 and EUR below 1.2900.
As Cable took lead last few weeks today I think EUR took lead on other Majors to start cleaning stops on supports. All other Majors did not have a jab at their supports. As Market volume gets back up next week EUR will lead again and does not look it will hit 1.3000. I can not see everyone back saying let's buy EUR at 1.2840 level for potential big correction above 1.3000 and just expect to gain 300 pips and thing of reversing around 1.3100ish.
Value is below 1.3000 not at current levels no matter fundamentals. Also watch decorrelation of Trichet with EZ eco strengh he's done it before and could resurface to haunt EUR. Just a thought from the past. good w-end to all. Hope noone holds possie now and ready for fresh ones from tuesday onwards for 2 or 3 great p/l months ahead.

Back for market end..
Well well , €$ went back to it's 1.2830 making a new high during the week..and no new lows..
This is quite bullish , as even the positive news for the $ doesnt make decent gain%..
Sooner or later the ranges ARE going to break, and unless we DO break 1.26xx area, I will stay euro bullish..
I have NO REASONS to short something going up , if i am looking for a trend...
I will be MORE than happy to short the EURO against the USD , as the carry is that way..
As for those insinuating that i am a $ BASHER(or have personnal problems with the US) , they should read my prior posts when the US$ was bullish , i too was US$ Bullish..Simple as that...
As for PAR, people seem to have a short term memory..PAR was i remember one of the firsts to say (and he was relentless like he is now with the US$), "LOWER THE EURO", and all sorts of bearish EURO posts, just before the euro made it's lows and finished .83xx (1998/2002)..It is his style , and he does post very interesting stuff.
It does seem that people who accuse others of having personnal problems with the US$ are themselves infatuated with the said currency..Get a grasp of yourselves, this is after all a currency..

Last time I post on this- feel like we've abused the board here.
But, it is slow so want to clean this up so there are certainly no feelings.

It all bouils down to a a difference of attention and importance along with misunderstanding.

I Don't despise FIBA. There is no disrespect to those who went to play with USA on their jersey and lost ( or if they had won). It is true that there has been very little mention of that tournament here. The US has an obscure sport called "American football" that is very popular and is just getting under way both in college and professionaly.
This has a lot of excitement and attention surrounding it here.

So aside from an off season event (like Canada sending some players somewhere to play hockey in July) the USA has the NBA and other countries have their national teams. Again I say this very sensitively and carefully. Aside from say the olympics there is not much interest here in this type of summer sanction. Honestly has had very little media coverage here. No disrespect at all.

Can see how other countries and the fans of their team would be excited as it is their showcase- makes it real for them. It is numb here for prior reasons mentioned and the fact that many major media markets here are homes to the NBA team so the appreciation is different. People are not thinking basketball right now. Get many months of it each year. Hence not much attention here (win or lose) for the current tournament. Also Superstars enjoy their time off for other interests (sometimes just R&R incl surgeries etc) as their off season is short. These are real factors are why there is not a USA "dream team" present at this type of sanction.

Did the best I could to respectfully respond. Hope my intentions were understood.

BTW- I am happy for other countries to do well. More global exposure means more competition and talent for the NBA. Consider 2 yrs ago NBA draft Andrew Bogut #1 pick Aussie from Univ of Utah and this year #1 pick was a European for the first time in Italian Andrea Bargnani.

Peace

However actually you dont respect both of the winner and the looser when saying that the team of USA is a B team.
There is one US team in World Championship and they wear the USA shirts, not Iverson frm Philly, not Kobe from LA, Shaq frm Heat....
It must not be an excuse for defeat that they are not there. and its not respectful behaviour despising the FIBA oraganzation saying no attention.
May be next time you can send WNBA team to respect women's curling ...:)

Honestly, I know analyst and we are sports enthusiasts but this competition was not on the radar map here and had no idea the team was playing as the games were not sports headlines here. Again no disrespect but consider the AVERAGE mix of players (B at best) and they combined would not even constitute a franchise NBA team. Read analysts earlier comment about who might actually make up a current "dream team". Cheer and be excited. That's great. I'm happy for you. Next season compare who played in the "Las Vegas Summer Squad" to who plays in the "Las Vegas NBA ALL-Star" game (ex any international players if you like). Ok we're cool and appreciate all sports (even women's curling).
Cheers.

I have made EXACTLY 24 trades this week , amounting to exactly 273 pips...which is great, as if i had followed my automated system only i would be FLAT , nor stopped just long €$ still...(I m not counting the -40 €£ yet, as its not closed).

---
Now as for the $ Trend, I do not see one, nor does my model see one (or it would be LONG $)..The system is STILL long €$, which does prove that the market has a chance of going AGAINST the usd..the system does lag , it won't however show the start of a trend.
I will put your bad manners, on a few stop loss hit, which does happen and i perfectly understand that.
As for the 1 FIGURE gain on the USD you really should look at the quotes the € is now sitting on 1.28 , and GBP OVER 1.90..Ozi at 7650, NZD 6540 area..

In anycase, i m off , good weekend to all.

P.S for others:
I shorted €CHF 1.5802 S/L 50 T/P 1.55...I m hoping the 6 year resistance doesnt break.

Consider the USD strength over the last day for nearly a figure and a half on the GBP/USD a mega trend when compared to your chirping micro tweezer trades for tiny miniscule 5 min losses/gains etc- even into the NFP reaction against your expectations. Would be a miracle to make such boastful gains trading that way. Feel like only fair way to brag is if you count what is posted otherwise- it must be BS.
Can only imagine the gains if you were trading with the move- you would be King for a day!

But since your posted trades are nowhere close to your claims there is no need (ability) to prove it so let's just drop it.

As for the supposedly strong emplyment- Must be a lucky guess that the wealth effect is an imaginary ancillary result as well. Yes I know, the wealthy aren't the one's filling the cubicles- it's all the expanded employee base that has expanded the wealthy owners business, GDP and kept unemployment at levels 1/2 of France. Guess they say Microsoft, GE, Exxon, Boeing, Google etc were good stocks too- or was it the great United Arab ???

As for manufacturing jobs going overseas- hallelujah! Keeps inflation low as the first world economies enjoy the information age! In addition to overestimating payrolls in each of the last four months, the market has overestimated the August change in 11 of the last 14 years (including eight of the last nine years). The average miss when the median is above the actual is 80.5k, including a 243k miss on the August 1992 tally, and a 1k miss on the August 2002 report. In the 20% of the time the market underestimated August payrolls since 1992, the average miss was 41.3k with a high of 89k in 1995 and a low of 15k in 1998. (IFR)

I previously posted an observation that certain - “US fundamentals have been majors in the past, but recently their release has had little impact on the marketâ€.

The market has changed over recent times. A single fundamental figure release should not be viewed in isolation to other aspects in the economy. There is an interrelationship between the fundamental figures, and this is being shown more so lately.

Market is possibly forming a top below 1.9147 - A bad NFP should
be a chance to sell GBP on intraday rise. I personally think NFP will be in line. Best propably watching hourly earnings and ISM prices.

Trichet had no impact yesterday because market expected what
he said so priced in, also needs deeper correction before potential new highs, US PCE above 2% target still lurking in

I am looking at the EUR/USD ranging between 1.2758 and 1.2880 at present from the 1hr 30 day chart. The price now is around the 38.2% fib on this chart, and this level of around 1.2813 I see as the level to watch as to the movement for the EUR/USD.

The up coming US fundamentals have been majors in the past, but recently their release has had little impact on the market. I would suggest that the market has already reacted to the consensus figures.

Looking at up pressure for the EUR/USD. If the price returns to the 50% of the range I am looking at around 1.2819, then I will be looking at the 50% fib around 1.2839.

Nervous market with fundamental consensus in favour of the USD, but my technicals give up pressure for the pair. Just looking for a few pips profit.

If loonie does its trick again i will take a possie and keep it for a week or so. Many people will think that it will visit the 1,20 again. But guess that the range will be very tight with this oil business, and the hits that it had makes it different for a descent move...

Well not a forecaster but if held gun to my head I'd say-

The sketchy ADP National Employment Report shows U.S private sector added 107,000 jobs in Aug vs 99,000 in July.
(add approx 20k for gov't jobs)

Traders were betting on Thursday that U.S. employers added about 98,190 jobs in August in the third of four derivatives auctions before the NFP release.

Ok. Futures got burned from incorrect ADP before so they are cautious. My gut says ADP is huge and has an ego to restore so they want to be accurate. They were wrong at times but will flip a coin and say they are right this time. I see many help wanted signs around and high GDP. Rates are still relatively low. Stock market fairly high. The market does not like surprises. Many are praying for poor US results as they hope their USD shorts prevail. Market goes in most painful direction (path of least resistance) Mid-term elections soon so window dressing is possible to start any time.

Will take a stab, a guess, a 50-50 flip of the coin and say NFP 123k-127k vs expectations of 120k.

My advice is don't take a position on friday's if you don't have existing ones unless you have a plan and good method you are abiding too..
Particularly in a day like today , where it might just go up and down on the news reaction (eating the 50 pips stops long and short), then take it's final destination (up or down , or flat).
Let's look at the £$ , as you seem to be interested in that one,
The chances are very high , on the news reaction it does 1.9080 and/OR 1.8970 THEN goes the way it wants to go, up or down,flat..As you can see placing the stops is hard on news trading..The easy way to have a chance to grasp a friday train , is to have existing positions, or wait for the initial reaction, and follow the move (tricky , it can go down 100 pips then up 250 , eating break trader's stops).

My advice to you, as you seem to be starting in forex:
-Stay out of Friday trading unless you are riding existing positions for the first year of your forex trading, it might help you make a second year.
GL to you.

Oil man- Great paper- thanks. Makes a lot of sense and hopefully some traders here realize that the "best spread" cn be an adverse situation. Always important to understand dealing practices of different dealers. Some lean on their book, others on positions etc. I prefer the "transparent" dealers that have reasonable spreads and excellent straight thru processing (STP).

Hello AB,
No my eurgbp limit wasnt touched(yet).
As for my favorite , i m going to leave the eur$ long i have into play from 1.2760 area , the aud$ 7580, €£ and $Y(that one i might remove in a few, so that i have NO risk this friday).
Hopefully they go up without ever going to my entries, leaving me in a train , choot choot...if not i guess market goes down, and i get stopped at entries..Not much of a risk involved, unless market gaps with a liquidity black hole like happened awhile ago on NFP numbers...(200 pips on gbp$ , 90 pips on €$..things that can really HURT margined leveraged x10 account or more)..
I have to admit the daily €$, isnt that great looking (with 2 red bars) the last days, the SHS formation (head at 1.2937 as seen on my yersterday's charts), but then charts aren't a perfect tool, they show possible outcome from past analysis..Therein lies the flaw...Anyone thinking the contrary hasnt been trading for long.
I think 112K for nfp , have to see how market takes the news.
I have a good sit, i grabbed a euro long at 5/10 pips from weekly low..Don't think i could have done any better, same for Ozi..Let's see where the train goes.

Well looks like a good outside day on EUR yesterday. Cable also showed signs of lacking muscles to get above 1.9100 again.

Outside days in EUR ususally work well so today should short any upmove.

Cable could also be making a 1-2-3 pattern at top of recent rally
1 - was 1.9147 high
2 - was 1.8775 low
3 - 1.9044 ydy
Worth shorting now reduced size with sl above 1.9147 if 1-2-3
materialises we should see return towards 1.8775 and will be confirmed if breaks sell again for acceleration much lower 300-400 pips.

Fundamentals Can't Justify NZD Rally - FNZC
Strength of NZD past few weeks cannot be justified on economic fundamentals, says First NZ Capital strategist Jason Wong; "activity indicators - bar recent employment data - have been decidedly soggy and reinforce our view of a sluggish domestic economy continuing for some time yet." Says current NZD levels suggest "another golden opportunity" to increase short positions. NZD/USD, which rose just over 6% last month, last 0.6549.

Still, it adds in April that IMF (according to some Japan officials) held closed-door session on global imbalances on morning of G7 meeting where argument put USD needed to fall heavily, apparently spurring G7 to act via communique; it's "widely believed this meeting is not scheduled to be held in September." With U.S. economic outlook less clear, U.S. may be less willing to accept extra USD weakness as may lead to USD free-fall; eurozone officials may be unwilling to put extra pressure on China given EUR has risen vs USD since April. Means meeting this time around "could turn out to be a nonevent and this could disappoint the market," send USD/JPY up.

Will be interesting for sure MW. While no expert myself (just a student of the markets) the headcount number is always important but the market seems to have shifted over the last year to now focusing on inflationary measures.

With a hot economy and a statistically "full capacity" employment picture (See Euro zone unemployment rate vs US) wages do become an important measure for sure.

Zeus, I wonder if the market is less concerned with unemployment rate and new jobs as it will be with hourly pay?

The sketchy ADP National Employment Report shows U.S private sector added 107,000 jobs in Aug vs 99,000 in July. When adding gov't jobs in the number is at the forecast NFP.

Traders were betting on Thursday that U.S. employers added about 98,190 jobs in August in the third of four derivatives auctions before the NFP release.

So the NFP should be a blast to trade from as usual.

The Global-View Forex Forum is the hub for currency trading on the web. Founded in 1996, it was the original forex forum and is still the place where forex traders around the globe come 24/7 looking for currency trading ideas, breaking forex news, fx trading rumors, fx flows and more. This is where you can find a full suite of forex trading tools, including a complete fx database, forex chart points, live currency rates, and live fx charts. In addition, there is a forex brokers directory where you can compare forex brokers. There is also a forex brokers hotline where you can ask for help choosing a forex broker that meets your individual fx trading needs.

Forex News

The forex forum is where traders come to discuss the forex market. It is one of the few places where forex traders of all levels of experience, from novice to professionals, interact on the same venue to discuss forex trading. There is also the GVI Forex, which is a private subscription service where professional and experienced currency traders meet in a private forex forum. it is like a virtual forex trading room. This is open to forex traders of all levels of experience to view but only experienced currency tradingprofessionals can post.

Currency Trading

Currency trading charts are updated daily using the forex trading ranges posted in the Global-View forex database. You will also find technical indicators on the fx trading charts, e.g. moving averages for currencies such as the EURUSD. This is another forex trading tool provided by Global-View.com.

Forex Brokers

The forex database can be used to access high, low, close daily forex ranges for key currency pairs, such as the EURUSD, USDJPY, USDCHF, GBPUSD, USDCAD, AUD, NZD and major crosses, including EURJPY, EURGBP, EURCHF, GBPJPY, GBPCHF and CHFJPY. Data for these currency trading pairs dating back to January 1, 1999 can be downloaded to an Excel spreadsheet.

Forex Trading

Forex chart points are in a currency trading table that includes; latest fx tradinghigh-low-close range, Bollinger Bands, Fibonacci retracement levels, daily forex pivot points support and resistance levels, average daily forex range, MACD for the different currency trading pairs. You can look on the forex forum for updates when one of the fx trading tools is updated.
