Each morning we wake to another round of Greek-Card Monti, a con game played on the streets of New York which almost always ends badly for those risking their money.

Thing is, everyone that knows anything about the con understands the outcome before the game begins. Is the Greek situation any different?

    Syd 22:18 GMT February 9, 2012 Reply
Nazi flags are hardly a rarity at Greek demonstrations these days. Anti-German tirades on primetime television have likewise become a staple. In Greece, a consensus has developed as to who is to blame for the country's economic misery. Age old stereotypes are flourishing.

The Greeks are now passing the buck for their own failures and this attitude can turn ugly ... all for saving the Euro they should just leave as its going to get much worse

fyi.... I am a scalper...aka ninja nimble trader.... on rare occasion I hold long term. Sometimes I have exited many of the trade before I can finish typing.....I am long gold at the moment...like now. at 1728.....will add again under 1727.3...then 1726.7....I think 1725-6 will be defended and I rarely play with stops unless there is a crucial data coming out....view change under 1723......I will consider some stops when that is hit......

Anyway I think Asia can play some nice ranges today....1727 - 1735...... My objective is usually to make the 100+ pips many times and tha is possible only with gold....I can cover when I see 100 pips in less than 1 minute...because 100 pips is hard to earn in my world...

Anyway gold is toppy and bias is Sell......but it does recover well to give bull/bear a nice range to think about.......imvho over sold short term like last hour or 2....I rode it down to 1739 from 1747....then long then got out for 100 approx and covered and long again 1727....and covered ....now lets see how this 1728 perform....hope to see it pop above 1732 in Asia....lots of eager gold bug.... First I need to see gold rise above your 1729....LOL....hopefully!!...gl gt!...ok USA is closed...time for some funny bizness??

He said the government will continue to pursue violations of law in the packaging and selling of risky mortgages that led to the crisis. “We’re going to keep at it until we hold those who broke the law fully accountable.”

The deal announced Thursday is about “righting the wrongs that led to the housing market collapse,” said Eric H. Holder Jr., the attorney general. “With this settlement, we recover precious taxpayer resources, fix a broken system and lay a groundwork for a better future.”

Shaun Donovan, the secretary of housing and urban development, said that new servicing standards would “force the banks to clean up their acts,” adding, “No more lost paperwork, no more excuses, no more runaround.”

The NYU professor of economics Nouriel Roubini said in Davos, Switzerland, on January 25, 2012, that tight policies are making the recession in the eurozone worse.

According to some experts, what is required to "fix" the eurozone is not tighter fiscal policies but a strong devaluation of the euro.

Here’s what I was saying about the differences between Greece and the US: Greece is in a currency union that has the euro operating much as the gold standard did in the 20th century, restricting government spending in a way that produces deflationary policy responses to avoid default.

After months of painstaking talks, government authorities and five of the nation’s biggest banks have agreed to a $26 billion settlement that could provide relief to nearly two million current and former American homeowners harmed by the bursting of the housing bubble, state and federal officials said. It is part of a broad national settlement aimed at halting the housing market’s downward slide and holding the banks accountable for foreclosure abuses.

Despite the billions earmarked in the accord, the aid will help a relatively small portion of the millions of borrowers who are delinquent and facing foreclosure. The success could depend in part on how effectively the program is carried out because earlier efforts by Washington aimed at troubled borrowers helped far fewer than had been expected.

Still, the agreement is the broadest effort yet to help borrowers owing more than their houses are worth, with roughly one million expected to have their mortgage debt reduced by lenders or able to refinance their homes at lower rates. Another 750,000 people who lost their homes to foreclosure from September 2008 to the end of 2011 will receive checks for about $2,000. The aid is to be distributed over three years.

I think that euro is still heading towards the neutral range highs located at the 1.3380 area. while 200-250 pips higher than that level represents the medium/long term TOP. just my two cents :-)

1.3150-1.3650 is the wider range for the coming two weeks, roughly.

the whole issue now goes about €300 millions, the troika allowed Greece two weeks to come back with answers about those €300 millions. no one is stupid enough to let €300 millions to block receive of €130 billions. so a Greek deal is a done deal and it's announcement is the only issue for now.

about trading, what's your time frame? What are your risk/reward criterias with Aussie? market been quite for long time and extreme volatility may be very near.

for this setup and entry at 1741 to work, should not hold above 1737/8........1744 is ideal entry but not expecting though perfect again would be 1741....again should not hold above 1737/8...a spike to 1741 and back can happen....

audusd poising for 1.0850 where sell order in place, usdjpy at interesting levels 77.15-28 (don't normally trade this but interesting to see which way it breaks).

Once audusd breaks....gold should follow to 1728..perfect entry would be 1741 if audusd makes it to 1.0850....thats my one cent view and setup for today (scalp)

JPMorgan Chase, like their competitors, has been attempting to improve their public image with an American public who blames them for the recession. In order to show their commitment to some of the hardest hit segments of economy, JPMorgan Chase has reached out to African-American communities across the U.S. by starting a public relations campaign to help “fulfill” the “vision” of Martin Luther King Jr. to coincides with Black History Month.

Now that campaign is turning into a public relations nightmare for the banking behemoth. Chase is now threatening to foreclose on 78-year old, Helen Bailey, a former Nashville area Civil Rights activist who stood up to police attack dogs, tear gas and fire hoses for her God given rights.

Ms. Bailey couldn’t keep up with her mortgage payments and attempted to refinance with another mortgage company and would work with her to let her stay in her home until she died. The only thing she asked from Chase was a $9000 principal write down.

Chase refused and now are threatening to foreclose and evict this hero of one of the darkest times of American history.

Australia has one of the strongest banking systems in the world because our banks didn’t play the silly overseas banking games of lending to people, organisations or governments who were unable to repay loans. But we have a weakness – our so-called ‘funding gap’ – and it's time to bring that weakness into the open, given that ANZ is this week deciding whether to lift mortgage interest rates.
