Subject: psychology and emotion

trotter 11:55 / re .."Not easy"..
It is the essential, single most important factor separating longterm successful traders from wannebe havebeens: The essence of trading is not the mathematical formulation of taking pleasure (cashing in profits) or saying enough to pain (taking a loss) as it is to psychologically disconnect from either and simply submissivelly react to market's dictates. One's reactions to price actions have to become instinctual rather than rational, if one aspires to be a trader. (from an earlier earlier post)
I add that a mark of a long-term sucessful trader is when profits magnitudes to loss magnitudes reach a better than 1:1 ratio (here you chose your own) and the trader experiences equal sence of (non) elation emotion about taking profit as about cutting a loser.
