Underpinned by reports that euro-zone leaders were nearing an agreement to make budget discipline legally binding to curb excessive debt and pave way for ECB to intervene more aggressively in sovereign debt markets. EUR/USD also supported by sovereign demand for euro. But EUR/USD topside limited by lingering worries over euro-zone debt crisis as Moody's warned that probability of multiple defaults by euro area countries is no longer negligible, while Italian 10-year government bond yield remain above critical 7% level at 7.28%; funding pressures of euro-zone banks (3-month EUR/USD cross-currency basis swap at minus 144 bps); fears of euro-zone recession; expectations of rate cut from ECB in coming months.
Data focus: 0910 GMT euro-zone November retail PMI, 1000 GMT euro-zone November business climate indicator & economic sentiment indicator.
