(Dow Jones via eFXnews) EUR/USD - to consolidate with bullish bias after hitting near-3-week high of 1.3053 yesterday. Supported by hopes for potential resolution in Greece as country negotiates a debt-restructuring agreement with its private creditors; news that Germany is ready to boost combined firepower of euro-zone EFSF and ESM rescue funds to EUR750 billion in exchange for strict budget rules in new fiscal compact for all euro-zone members; surprise rise in euro-zone consumer confidence indicator to minus 20.6 this month from minus 21.3 in December (vs forecast for drop to minus 21.5); robust French sales of EUR8.202 billion in 13-, 24-, and 50-week Treasury bills with yields close to where they were in previous auctions despite recent loss of its triple-A rating by S&P; sovereign demand for euro. But EUR/USD gains tempered by Spanish central bank saying yesterday Spain's economy will likely contract around 1.5% this year, making it even harder for the country to reach ambitious targets in cutting its budget deficit; worries over wider European economic slowdown; concerns about fiscal health of Portugal as 10-year Portuguese yield stays elevated above 14%.
Data focus: 0830 GMT German January flash PMI, 0900 GMT euro-zone January flash PMI, 1000 GMT euro-zone November new industrial orders.
