- After some softness in the early going US equities are nearly back to unchanged. The Feb retail sales data came in at twice the expected gain, definitively showing that the US consumer kept spending in February despite the higher payroll taxes. Retail sales ex-autos rose 1.0 percent versus expectations of a 0.5 percent gain. January inventories also came in at twice the expected amount. The DJIA is -0.1%, while the S&P500 and Nasdaq are flat on the session.

- The greenback rallied following the positive US data while the euro had been struggling after the lackluster Italian BTP bond auction, which featured limp demand and a bid-to-cover at its lowest level in over a year. EUR/USD was at its 2013 lows around 1.2930 in mid-morning trading.

- The yen is flat as traders wait on Japan's Parliament to confirm Asian Development Bank President Kuroda as the new BoJ governor on Friday. The new BoJ members are scheduled to take office on March 19th and markets are waiting to see whether the bank will schedule an emergency policy meeting.

- The German government confirmed press commentary and said it would cut its stake in bailed-out lender Commerzbank to less than 20% from 25%. The lender said it would raise $3.3 billion to repay the government part of the bail-out money it received during the financial crisis.

- Shares of Boeing are mostly flat the morning after the FAA approved the company's 787 Dreamliner battery certification plan and limited flights to test the new design. Note that yesterday shares pushed out to five-year highs on the disclosure of a big 170 plane order from Ryanair.

- VMWare slightly trimmed its FY13 revenue guidance at the EMC analyst conference this morning, noting that the firm's ongoing restructuring process would take longer to complete than previously expected. It offered a strong look at its longer-term forecast. Shares of VMW are up 6%.

- MEMC offered some FY13 metrics but no overall FY13 guidance at an analyst day event. In addition, the company said it would seek shareholder approval in May to change company's name to SunEdison. Shares of WFR are down nearly 12%. Meanwhile ADRs of Chinese solar name Suntech are off 11% after press reports suggested the firm may run out of cash and be taken over by the Chinese government.

- Apparel name Express, Inc. topped expectations in its Q4 results, however the firm's forecast for Q1 and FY13 were not good. Shares of EXPR are down 9%.

Data for these currency trading pairs dating back to January 1, 1999 can be downloaded to an Excel spreadsheet.

Forex chart points are in a currency trading table that includes; latest fx tradinghigh-low-close range, Bollinger Bands, Fibonacci retracement levels, daily forex pivot points support and resistance levels, average daily forex range, MACD for the different currency trading pairs.
