HIGH IMPACT ITEMS: No Major Data
- Time is running out for the U.S. budget agreement although October 17 is fading as a drop dead date. Focus more on October 23 and November. Ultimately, the odds still favor some sort of a deal involving a postponement of major decisions on the budget until early 2014. Fitch has put the U.S. on credit watch for possible downgrade.
- U.K. August/September employment data were mixed with a sharp decline in unemployment, but the unemployment rate was steady and average earnings fell. BOE Governor Carney targeting a 7.0% unemployment rate to consider tightening. GBP flat initially. Eurozone HICP data were steady vs. flash estimates. See the FOREX FORUM for latest key data and charts as they are released.
- Thursday sees more UK data (Retail Sales). Friday sees Canadian inflation. A slew of U.S. data has been piling up When it is released depends on the status of government shutdown.
