HIGH IMPACT NEWS ITEMS: AU- Employment, EZ- Industrial Output, Retail Sales, Weekly Jobless, 30-yr
- Forex trading moved to the sidelines Wednesday in the absence of key trading news. Trading was dominated by a "risk-off" post with fixed income prices up and equities lower. After a rocky start, U.S. equity markets gained from their lows over the day.
- The major USD pairs in forex are narrowly mixed, which implies that the same is generally true for the major crosses.
- Nervousness about the Crimea "independence" referendum over the weekend persists even though its outcome is seen as a foregone conclusion. The U.S. Energy Department indicated during the day that it was going to make a token release of oil from the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR). Some saw the announcement as a warning shot at Russia.
- Thursday sees key February employment data from Australia and and U.S. Retail Sales data. Be sure to refer daily to the Global-View Economic Calendar For key items (actual data, selected charts, etc.) as they are released, see the FOREX FORUM.
