Net change of +24K was above consensus and unemployment rate was unchanged but only because participation rate ticked up from 8-year low levels. Full-time component growth of 33K was also a positive relative to -9K in part-time column. ANZ analysts said the jobs numbers "suggest a modest improvement in reported labor market outcomes."- Volatility in the currency market remains polarized to trading in the Yen. USD/JPY rose some 90pip in the afternoon trade to 115.50, but then swiftly sold off to 114.40. In the absence of meaningful news, central bank dealing was suspected, particularly with South Korea officials expressing even greater discomfort with the weaker JPY vs KRW. Korean Dep Fin Min remarked that South Korea would aim to manage KRW moves in line with JPY. - USD was also offered across the board in afternoon trade - EUR/USD sliced above $1.25 and USD/CHF moved below 0.9620 going into the critical ECB meeting. Perception of discord in the ECB between the pro-QE camp and anti-QE Bundesbank suggests the ECB is close to a boiling point, with chatter than Germany's Weidmann has threatened to resign if his QE reservations are not heeded. On the flip side, another disappointment in the decision is likely to produce a snapback EUR rally from recent lows.- Lenovo returned to positive territory in afternoon trade after posting decent Q2 results. Net profit rose 19% to $262M and Rev was up 7% at $10.5B, with margin expansion of 20bps to 13.4% and market share improvement to 19.7% from 17.7%. As it stands, Lenovo has also become #1 in broader PC market (PC and tablet) with 14.1% share for the 1st time. PC shipments were up 13% y/y, though the company did warn China smartphone market is no longer in hypergrowth speed.***Equities***US markets: - NDLS: Reports Q3 $0.10 v $0.10e, R$106.2M v $106Me; +10.0% afterhours- ACAS: Announces Plans to Split into Three Companies; +9.8% afterhours- WFM: Reports Q4 $0.35 v $0.32e, R$3.26B v $3.27Be; +8.0% afterhours- TSLA: Reports Q3 $0.02 v $0.00e, R$852M v $868Me; reduces deliveries guidance for FY14 to 33K from 35K (FY14 production seen at 35K); Model X delayed a few months to Q3 2015; +6.9% afterhours- NWSA: Reports Q1 $0.09 v $0.03e, R$2.15B v $2.09Be; +3.9% afterhours- CBS: Reports Q3 $0.74 v $0.73e, R$3.37B v $3.33Be; +2.4% afterhours- SUNE: Reports Q3 -$0.68 v -$0.24e, R$681M v $653M; -2.0% afterhours- PRU: Reports Q3 $2.20 v $2.41e, R$11.8B v $11.0Be; -2.2% afterhours- LPSN: Reports Q3 $0.07 v $0.06e, R$52.8M v $52.7Me; -3.4% afterhours- BAH: Offering 10M shares for holders - filing (6.7% shares outstanding); -3.7% afterhours- CF: Reports Q3 $2.63 v $3.41e, R$921.4M v $930Me; Increases dividend 50% and approves $1B repurchase program (7.9% of market cap); -5.4% afterhours- QCOM: Reports Q4 $1.26 v $1.31e, R$6.69B v $7.03Be; -5.6% afterhours- WBMD: Reports Q3 $0.23 v $0.24e, R$143.5M v $143Me; -7.9% afterhours- Z: Reports Q3 $0.13 v $0.07e, R$88.6M v $88.0Me; -8.2% afterhoursNotable movers by sector:- Consumer Discretionary: Yamada Denki 9831.JP +1.1% (H1 results)- Financials: Mitsui & Co Ltd 8031.JP -2.2% (to take stake in in Brazil subway)- Energy: Nisshinbo Holdings 3105.JP +1.1% (H1 results)- Industrials: Guangzhou Automobile Group 2238.HK +0.9% (Oct sales result); China Railway Construction Group 601186.CN +1.3%, China Railway Group 601390.CN +1.6% (China approves railway projects)- Telecom: Hong Kong Television 1137.HK +33.4% (reaches agreement with Tencent for online broadcast); Ten Network TEN.AU +7.0% (confirms strategic options) Related ( UPDTE ) - Source
