Turkish Airlines bans air hostesses from wearing red lipstick and nail polish in new row over 'creep:
Reply
Lipstick ban: Flight attendants on Turkish Airlines have been ordered not to wear red lipstick or nail polish in a move attacked as 'too religious'
Female flight attendants at Turkey’s national airline have been banned from wearing red lipstick and nail polish, prompting renewed fears from secular Turks the country is becoming more Islamic.
Turkish Airlines, Europe's fourth-biggest carrier, said the ban was aimed at keeping crews 'artless and well-groomed with makeup in pastel tones' because a natural look improved communication with passengers.
But critics say it reflects the creeping influence of the government's Islamic values.
The new rule will be imposed just one year after the airline lifted its ban on headscarves among its staff.
‘This new guideline is totally down to Turkish Airlines management's desire to shape the company to fit its own political and ideological stance,’ Atilay Aycin, the president of Turkish Airlines' worker's union, said.
‘No one can deny that Turkey has become a more conservative, religious country.’
Turkey is 99 per cent Muslim, but the NATO state and European Union candidate has a secular constitution.
There have been concerns in recent years that an increasingly wealthy but pious middle-class is emerging in Turkey that wants to practise its religion more freely.
Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan's ruling AK Party, which traces its roots to a banned Islamic party, has also come under strong pressure from grassroots supporters to relax the state's control over the expression of religion.
Turkey has remained a secular consitution since the modernising reforms of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, who threw religion out of public life in the 1920s and 1930s as he rebuilt Turkey from the ruins of the Ottoman Empire. The powerful military views itself as the ultimate guarantor of Turkey's secular order and has ousted four democratically elected governments in the past 50 years, most recently in 1997 when with public support it drove out a cabinet it viewed as too Islamist. The current government, led by Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, is run by the Muslim AK party which has its roots in a banned Islamic movement. He is currently serving his third term as Prime Minister heading the conservative faith based Justice and Development Party, also known as the AK Party. He founded the AK Party in 2001 upon his release from prison where the former mayor of Istanbul, served ten months for reciting an illegal Islamist poem during a public address in the province of Siirt. As he was banned from public office following the speech including the poem, he could not become Prime Minister when the party won the general election in 2002, a ban which was lifted in 2003. However, under Erdogan’s leadership the country has relaxed restrictions on religious expression, including lifting the ban on head scarves in courts and schools.

Crowdfunding!...?:
Reply
Well I am new to forex, forums, etc. I'm really excited to get started in forex. Looking at demo accounts now.
Also looking at other ways to invest. A friend of mine suggested crowdfunding as an option. Supposedly he's done pretty well with it. The idea's pretty new- you can help to fund new startups with the help of different sites that sell portions of equity in the companies. I know of a few sites already that seem interesting like kickstarter, crowdcube, seedrs, and uinvest. The last one seems to be the one I was most interested in. Their people seemed really ready to help, and I liked their approach to the whole crowdfunding thing.
The whole thing seems like a really good idea with possibilities... but has anyone else out there had any experience with this? Any suggestions?

Mikael Jalving - Hour 1 - Absolut Sweden: A Country Undergoing :
Reply
Michael Jalving is a Danish commentator, writer, lecturer and political debater. He writes for Jyllands Posten, which a few years ago published the famous Muhammad cartoons, which led to international controversy and burning of embassies. The newspaper announced that this publication was an attempt to contribute to the debate regarding criticism of Islam and self-censorship. Jalving previously published the book "Me and Muhammad" but he is best known in Sweden for his book, "Absolute Sweden - a country undergoing change," which we'll discuss in this program. The book is critical of mass immigration and takes a deeper look at the troubled past and worrying future of Scandinavia's big brother. In the second hour we discuss Sweden's role in World War II and the so called neutrality, while selling iron ore and ball bearings to both sides of the war. The problem of Sweden extends way beyond the current issues of mass immigration and we'll try to get to the root of the ongoing cultural erosion which is currently taking place. Michael will talk about the economic success Sweden experienced in the 70's - somewhat of an enigma considering that it was a quasi-socialist welfare state that was dictated by Olof Palme and his minions, where social engineering or social planning was one of the most important driving ideologies at that time and still is. We'll go deeper into the psychology of a nation, which thinks it can control all conflict - detached from reality and nature. Jalving continues on anti-individual Jante Law and how it has shaped the country as well as the concept of the "folkhome," a utopian and egalitarian ideology that sought to perfect the state and the collective within it. The ant like society of the 60s and 70s marched on towards a totalitarian collectivist state and it even went so far as to nationalize or socialize the profits of private companies. Later, we move on to talk about the rise of right wing parties in Europe and ask why. We'll also discuss why freedom of speech is under threat and censorship and surveillance is on the rise.

Council bans rugby club from playing national anthem:
Reply
A rugby club built on land once owned by the Queen has been banned from playing the national anthem through loudspeakers by town hall bureaucrats.
The club says it is the only one in the country not allowed to play God Save the Queen – which it wanted the crowd to sing along to at the grand opening of a big international match.
Bosses are welcoming an expected crowd of 1,000 to Scarborough Rugby Club to watch England Colleges play the Irish Exiles a week tomorrow.
Each nation’s songs are usually played and sung for the opening of the tournament.
But the club – in Scalby, near Scarborough – is bound by strict council rules which forbid amplified music.
Council bosses fear local villagers will be annoyed by the noise.
The club was only built because of a land swap deal with land owners The Duchy of Lancaster,
which manages much of the Royal estate.
Club officials hope to get around the ban by fielding a brass band or jazz band onto the pitch. A spokesman said: “As long as the music is not amplified we are okay.”
Otherwise the crowds will have to take their seats in silence for the kick off.
UKIP leader Nigel Farage said: “The National Anthem in total is usually only 60 seconds long. I would have thought there was a perfectly good reason here for bending the rules. I’m utterly appalled.”
Scarborough Tory MP Robert Goodwill said: “I know there’s an issue in terms of the use of the PA system at the club. But surely in the case of our National Anthem there should be a dispensation.”
Scarborough Council says it imposed the ban because of complaints from local villagers about noise and the arrangements had been in place for

'Boom, boom, boom everywhere... kill': Chilling words of British Muslim terrorists' ringleader as he plotted to murder 2,000 people in Al-Qaeda-backed atrocity in supermarkets and town centres
Mixing in street slang with jihadi rhetoric, they justify their plot by saying Westerners deserve to be 'terrorised'.
Naseer says: 'They wanna have sex like donkeys on the street, they wanna club, act like animals and why shouldn't we terrorise them, tell me that? You think about it, if someone came in your house, yeah, and started dancing and throughout the night and started basically having orgies and smoking drugs and stuff...you would terrorise them, innit.'
They raised £12,000 for themselves in this way, but were forced to apply for tens of thousands of pounds in loans after losing more than £9,000 of the money playing foreign currency markets.

Richo: Gillard will destroy Labor:
Reply
A loss of between of between 30 and 40 seats is on the cards, a slaughter of epic proportions. It would take Labor a decade to recover… The next generation of political Labor leaders, with the exception of Bill Shorten, would all be gone.
You would be entitled to wonder just how much the Labor Party can take… Given that a budget must be prepared by May which must deliver $15 billion of cuts just to allow for the NDIS and the Gonski reforms, the political pain would be immense. There is a real chance that there won’t be much left of the modern Labor Party at the end of her reign....
She could ditch the NDIS and Gonski legacy she has been determined to leave behind as a permanent reminder of her prime ministership. That would at least give Wayne Swan some chance of preparing a budget that won’t destroy a party he has served all his working life.
Most likely though, she will hang on and try to tough it out… This would mean that the legacy Gillard leaves behind would be the near destruction of the modern Labor Party.

One night President Obama and his wife Michelle decided to do something out of routine and go for a casual dinner at a restaurant that wasn’t too luxurious. When they were seated, the owner of the restaurant asked the president’s secret service if he could please speak to the First Lady in private. They obliged and Michelle had a conversation with the owner. Following this conversation President Obama asked Michelle, “Why was he so interested in talking to you.” She mentioned that in her teenage years, he had been madly in love with her. President Obama then said, “So if you had married him, you would now be the owner of this lovely restaurant,” to which Michelle responded, “No. If I had married him, he would now be the President.”

Enough illegal migrants to fill three cities the size of Newcastle: Home Office reports that 863,000:
Reply
Britain is hosting enough illegal immigrants to fill three cities the size of Newcastle, according to border officials.
A Home Office report says an estimated 70 per cent of the 863,000 illegal migrants are living in London.
The study also reveals that 10,000 foreigners who had no legal right to live in Britain have been granted permission to stay under the so-called 14-year rule.
It means they managed to stay in the country for so long without being booted out that the Government has now given up the fight.
This is based on the nationalities of those people the authorities have detected.
Last night Immigration Minister Mark Harper said: 'It's no surprise that after years of uncontrolled immigration, we have a sizeable illegal immigrant population in Britain.
Minister for Immigration Mark Harper promised a tougher stance on illegal migrants
Minister for Immigration Mark Harper promised a tougher stance on illegal migrants
'We are determined to get immigration under control, and in the past year net migration has fallen by a quarter. We also want to get tough on illegal immigration.'
The illegal population – more than three times the 275,000 who live in Newcastle – will add sharply to the number of foreign-born nationals living here legally.
Earlier this month, the official Census showed that 7.5million people who were born abroad were living here in 2011, of whom more than half have arrived since 2001.

I no longer recognise the Britain I grew up in:
Reply
the destruction of manufacturing industry, and the filling up of depressed regions of our former industrial base with immigrants who had no connection with them.
is a worrying fracturing of society — and I believe the reasons for it can be found in the Census report this week which laid bare the true, staggering scale of immigration to Britain in recent years.
I have seen the changes in London, where I have lived for 25 years, and which I have known all my life. London was always more ‘exotic’ than the provinces. You would hear the occasional foreign accent, or a foreign language being spoken on the bus.
As I grew up into someone who liked trying to learn languages, I used to get on the bus and position myself near a foreign language-speaker to see if I could make out what they were saying.
Now, it is rare to hear English spoken on any of the buses that I take regularly. And increasingly this impenetrable language barrier is becoming a problem in everyday life, because so many recent immigrants from Europe are working in shops and cafes across the country.
A friend of mine went to a well-heeled London branch of Marks & Spencer the other day, and at the hot food counter asked for a ‘pasty’, only to be met with a look of total incomprehension from two members of staff who worked there. They simply didn’t know what he was talking about, and could only turn and point mutely at the menu on the wall. You’d think he was in Azerbaijan.
: In some 600 English primary schools, English is the second language for over 70 per cent of the pupils
