The VALUE (i.e. its trumpeted utility) about to get diminished:
..."Under the EU-wide plan, online platforms where bitcoins are traded will be required to carry out due diligence on customers ... Traders will be forced to disclose their identities, ending the anonymity ... The rules are expected to come into effect in the next few months"....
display of amazing confusion in value vs price:
value = utility
price = at which transfer of ownership occurs

I calculated (roughly) yesterday intraday swings. They amounted to more than $7,000. Half the currency value.
No sane serious investor is going to participate in this Mad Game.
It has to show some stability first.

dc CB 12:07 / Do you know difficult it is buy Gold from - for example - Scotia Bank ?
I note with very much interest: ... "all eligible bitcoin orders will be processed and shipped within one business day of your paymentís clearing and processing" ... . .... "Buyers can make purchases with bitcoin at any time, from nearly anywhere, just as with most credit cards. International orders become significantly easier as cryptocurrency like bitcoin is accepted worldwide without conversion. Also, many customers prefer Bitcoin payment because of the anonymity offered by a blockchain purchase."

For more than 15 years, APMEX has been an industry leader and along the way has adapted to the growing needs of our customer base. As bitcoin becomes more popular and widely accepted as payment, we are thrilled to welcome the use of this cryptocurrency for buying Gold, Silver and other Precious Metals by integrating BitPay into our website.
With BitPay integration, APMEX customers can now pay using bitcoin and complete their order in seconds.
CB - it's amazes and amuses me to hear people fiercely claiming that the whole bitcoin base is not a hoax/pyramid. with the satoshi structure, bitcoin price may go $1'000'000'000.00 and still no whole bitcoin needs to change hands. the "bitcoin exchange bucketshops" can make that quire easily. when more regulation kicks in, it will turn into fiat style "hoax". I had to laugh for few minutes when I heard it's Goldman Sachs responsible for the clearing of the bitcoin futures.

Don't stand second in line to a BIG Seller, liquidity appears to be an issue -- why oh why !!!

Plus, all other Crypto currencies can only be acquired with Bitcoin. So if you want to start trading Ethereum, you have to open an acct with your Currency (USD, Yen, Won etc) buying Bitcoin (Satoshis for the average Joe), then you can trade all the 100 or so, with more being created - ICO's Inital Coin Offerings.

Jay, that is the problem. There are many exchanges and not nesc priced in USD. During the Zimbab crisis earlier last month, BTC went for an equiv $13,000 USD.
Plus, consider that a "trade" does not have to be a Full Bitcoin, it can be a partial, which at these prices most are. The smallest is the Satoshi:
1 Satoshi = 0.00000001 ฿
100,000 Satoshi = 0.00100000 ฿
1,000,000 Satoshi = 0.01000000 ฿
10,000,000 Satoshi = 0.10000000 ฿
100,000,000 Satoshi = 1.00000000 ฿
so buying/selling in these increments shows as a trade at a price.
After today, I really don't think they will launch futures at all this month. The BTC Blockchain it way too slow compared to Algo HFTs
as noted in an earlier post. Most of the demand is in the Asian session. The "little rocketman effect"????
BBG sez South Korea : Chart: daily trading in Won exceeds $2Billion on some days.
IMHO: the intro of futures 2 weeks before Christmas/NewYears holiday is going to be a Major Co(K-Up in the US. The CME and CBOT have never dealt with a futures instrument that is not based on an Underlying that is not traded in a regulated public market. ie Grains, energies, bonds, stocks.
The greedy mtfs are jumping the gun here ---- cruisin' for a brusin' . I can's see anybody wanting to test this market at the end of the year in Thin holiday trading. They shud have waited until Feb. But greed and the need to stop/Crush this Bitcoin trump that.
Folks are breaking out in fever dislike of fiats. Their dislike is patently obvious. Currently Bitcoin is THE alternative.
In the meantime, one could think, it is suppressing Gold.
(making a gift)

There's no intrinsic value in crypto"currency" - there's no there, there - why is this even an issue here?

looking for your first broker or do you need of a new one? There are
more critical things to consider than you might have thought.
We were trading long before there were online brokers. Global-View
has been directly involved with the industry since its infancy. We've
seen everything and are up-to-data with recent regulatory changes.
The Global-View Forex Forum is the hub for currency trading on the web. Founded in 1996, it was the original forex forum and is still the place where forex traders around the globe come 24/7 looking for currency trading ideas, breaking forex news, fx trading rumors, fx flows and more. This is where you can find a full suite of forex trading tools, including a complete fx database, forex chart points, live currency rates, and live fx charts. In addition, there is a forex brokers directory where you can compare forex brokers. There is also a forex brokers hotline where you can ask for help choosing a forex broker that meets your individual fx trading needs. Interact on the same venue to discuss forex trading.
The forex forum is where traders come to discuss the forex market. It is one of the few places where forex traders of all levels of experience, from novice to professionals, interact on the same venue to discuss forex trading. There is also the GVI Forex, which is a private subscription service where professional and experienced currency traders meet in a private forex forum. it is like a virtual forex trading room. This is open to forex traders of all levels of experience to view but only experienced currency tradingprofessionals can post.
Currency trading charts are updated daily using the forex trading ranges posted in the Global-View forex database. You will also find technical indicators on the fx trading charts, e.g. moving averages for currencies such as the EURUSD. This is another forex trading tool provided by Global-View.com.
The forex database can be used to access high, low, close daily forex ranges for key currency pairs, such as the EURUSD, USDJPY, USDCHF, GBPUSD, USDCAD, AUD, NZD and major crosses, including EURJPY, EURGBP, EURCHF, GBPJPY, GBPCHF and CHFJPY. Data for these currency trading pairs dating back to January 1, 1999 can be downloaded to an Excel spreadsheet.
Forex chart points are in a currency trading table that includes; latest fx tradinghigh-low-close range, Bollinger Bands, Fibonacci retracement levels, daily forex pivot points support and resistance levels, average daily forex range, MACD for the different currency trading pairs. You can look on the forex forum for updates when one of the fx trading tools is updated.
Global-View also offers a full fx trading chart gallery that includes fx pairs, such as the EURUSD, commodities, stocks and bonds. In a fx trading world where markets are integrated, the chart gallery is a valuable trading tool. Look for updates on the Forex Forum when the chart gallery is updated.
Global-View.com also offers a forex blog, where articles of interest for currency trading are posted throughout the day. The forex blog articles come from outside sources, including forex brokers research as well as from the professionals at Global-View.com. This forex blog includes the Daily Forex View, Market Chatter and technical forex blog updates. In additional to its real time forex forum, there are also Member Forums available for more in depth forex trading discussions.
