Might have a bit of a small argument there guys, if you have the view, which turns out to be right, and you don't act on it,could for sure be een as opportunity lost, but the value lies in the fact you are "connected" with the market..rather than being totally clueless, or worse, wrong..
I ws watching it too, and missed it as well..
But it is the p&l that counts ultimately, that I will not argue..

Oklahoma SZ 18:59 GMT September 1, 2003 Reply
Ok ML, just as you say I did not act on my views and look what happened. I hate when I do that..Oh well we will get them back tonight..Hope your day is going good..

ICT ML 18:45 GMT September 1, 2003 Reply
Whats up guys? Well, hate to say this, but although I posted the plan to short cable @ 1.5790, I didn't get it done, I was fiddling with the settings on the platform when it turned down. So I bought a bounce @ 1.5772 traded, which didn't do anything but make a little blue candle on a blood red chart..LOL closed it out for -7 pips thank GOD before the broker closed for the holiday

So, I tell you guys this for one reason. You have to ACT on your views for them to be of any VALUE!....I blew my clients an easy 100 pip gain by being distracted.

Have fun rest of the day.

SZ....hope you stuck with your short Eur/Usd view from early this morning;-)

Hey, SZ..................................................
I have a friend who teaches up at SUNY Binghampton--
gets a little chilly up there!
Actually, Im not from NY...I was born in Kansas City---
that's where I got my first exposure to the grain markets--
at the old Kansas City Board of Trade....
If you try the 4/18s, BTW, and you like short-term trades
on Cable--put those indicators on and bring up the
GBP/JPY, too----watch your Stoch cross(from below 20)--
it leads the MACD cross and then the MA cross--that will
very often lead you to a good scalp on Cable...(of course)
just...FWIW...

HI, SZ..................................................
I started the same as you....
And, yes, its seems like a lot of the crosses
trade a lot like the Bean Complex (very different
fundamentals, however)................................
I still use 4, 9 , 18, 40s--mostly out of habit----
but, for very short-term trades (scalps)--------
where a lot of traders use 5s/20s, I find that the
4/18 EMAs combined with a 9-18-9 MACD and an
18-3-3 Slow Stochastic give consistent results.

Yeah Lee, they make 3-5 PIPS everytime you enter an order. So on a 100 lot order on Eur/USD, they make a minumum of $3,000.00 on the spread whether you loss your assss or make money (sounds like a bookie????). Just ONE person doing say 10 trades a week at this level and they are VERY VERY happy.

Fwiw/ Keep an eye out for Snow´s rhetoric on Chinese FX
policy. Any sign that the Chinese are willing to alter the peg
or introduce a floating currency is very very bullish yen. Could
also feed into EUR/USD weakness and demand for US equities.

Spotforex NY 13:56 GMT September 1, 2003 Reply
I saw a headline on Bloomberg this weekend that Snow informed Chinese and Japanese officials that market forces should dictate ccy value...I think this will be the theme when it comes to the Yen especially....Unless N. Korea spokes the specs on some missile test over the Sea of Japan, the Yen appears to be strong 117.10 to 116.20 range for now...but I suspect a move lower in the Dollar yen pair....

hsppy hunting all!!!!!!

Spotforex NY 13:54 GMT September 1, 2003 Reply
NYC MSG - I suspect that the 115.50 level in Dollar Yen will be tested and the longer the pair hovers below 117.10, the more likely it will be tested. Below 115.50 IGNITES doenside potential for the Dollar with a tech objective of sub 105....The BOF/MOF will defend its "weak" yen policy...but unless another CB intervenes, it seems unlikely that prolong yen weakness will re-emerge. Yen is looking very strong on cross (Especially Sterling Yen)...This will eventually feed into the Dollar component.

FX UPDATE 01/09
Good morning, sorry for the delay due to technical problems...

***EUR***
EUR/USD (Currently 1.0990), 110 pips higher than on Friday's opening. EUR/USD consolidation ended last friday when resistance at 1,0930 gave way and allowed the pair to print 1,1000 in the US, before closing the week at 1,0980. Overnight range was 1,0974-1,1017 with traders selling the US currency in a quiet market. Today, our take is that if 1,0980 breaks, EUR/USD will try to retrace to 1,0930 before testing the upside again. Next challenging point stands at 1,1050 (huge support level taken last 21st August). Also recent range 1,0800-1,0930 was broken, we like to think that we are still in a wider consolidation range 1,0800-1,1050 and that the resistance will be a tough nut to crack.

Data out today:

E12 Reuters Mfg PMI August expected 49 08.00 GMT
GB Consumer credit July expected 1,8B 08.30 GMT
GB CIPS July expected 51,3 08.30 GMT
Can PPI M/M July expected 0,3% 12.30 GMT

US closed today (labour day holiday)

Gold up at 378,00 with WTI October at 31,73.

***JPY***
Usd/Jpy (currently 116,65) as expected cracked the much advertised 117,00 support and numerous stops below last friday, taking the pair to a new recent low of 116,15, before retracing but still unable to reprint 117,00 .the big news is that BOJ annonced that they did not intervene in the FX market in August, while the market was expecting a multi Billion figure. As a result, traders interpreted this news as a green light to start selling USD/JPY. Our take is that also BOJ did not intervene, many japanese public funds must have sold JPY last months, maybe on behalf of BOJ. Overnight range was 116,52 - 116,79 in a quiet market. Supports at 116,50 and 116,10 and resistance at 117,00. EUR/JPY still in the process of forming a flat bottom. 127,70 should now offer some support and 128,50 some resistance. As we suggested last week, we are now entering a strong supportive zone and range trading in the 126,50 - 130.00 zone should prevail for some time.

***GBP***
Cable (currently 1.5770) did not take advantage of EUR/USD bounce on friday and kept gravitating around 1,5770. Support at 1,5730, with strong resistance at 1,5830 now.
EUR/GBP (0.6965) reached our intermediate target at 0,6960 and is now heading to psychological 0,7000 level. 0,6930 should provide some support with 0,6990-00 on the topside.

Have a nice day,

Olivier

The bisa of Usd/Yen is definetely downside.
The demand for Yen in the markets are very strong,
reminding me of the scenario in 1999.

BOJ intervention solely cannot reverse the market trend,
however,it can hinder and slow down the trend.

My conclusion is that,Sell-On-Blip is a strategey more
appropriate for Usd/Yen rather than catching the bottom,
especially after 115 is broken.

Every BOJ intervention,I think,is a wonderful chance for us
to sell @ a good entry.

For those of us that are fortunate enough to have wealth, there comes with it an awesome responsibility to do help others less fortunate and I think in particular the sick or those that have less ability to take care of themselves. THINK about it and rememeber how GREAT the world would be if you were able to satisfy the needs of someone or ease their pain because of something YOU did. Looks like many of them are still holding Euro. longs and desparately want to get out sooner than later. The test will be at about 1.1070, which may serve a pivot price on the way back down to hammer the 1.0770

Subdued Oz manufacturing and productive sector for august. In my personal opinion only, It seems that with elections a little way off the Treasury is not monstering the RBA for a responsible interest rate policy that would encourage capital and business investment just yet. A very subdued economy is OK for now because it means that the politicans and the current treasurer and PM's heir apparent can be seen to be taking action closer to the elections to save the economy. Oz interest rates are so high relative to the rest of the world (only NZ's are higher FWIW) that they have been depressing business and inhibiting real capital investment for over a year now. What improvements in the Oz economic indicators or currency have been due to the misfortune and poor performance of other countries. There has been little real growth or expansion.
There is little expectation of any interest rate cuts and most business have put investments or hirings on indefinite hold. The supposed housing bubble continues to be beat up. This is currently caused by capital desperate for return looking at investment property or the proprietors spending money on themselves or negatively geared property investment to convert business rental charges to non taxable assets.
A 45c AUD is back on the cards if and when the rest of the world shifts back into economic gear and little or no business development has occurred in Australia.

Gbp/Usd outlook for the coming weeks/months: If my cable reading is correct, we're in for a nice ride over the medium term. Following on from previous comments relating to possible turning point on 26th August ( 08:26 GMT August 11, 2003 ) we can see this day played a classic reversal, spike new low before up: This new reversal I believe will be shallow and short with this possible top between 1.5882 and 1.5965 where Selling pressure should increase again. On the downside, I'm calling for a conservative target between 1.5410 and 1.5324 sometime before 9th October.
My current strategy of buying cable has being in place since 26th August and will keep buying on dips until this market turns.
At this stage, any daily close above 1.6075 will cancel my current view within the 9th October time frame. GT

My view, my hourly up trend is intact, I'm looking to short from 1.5790 when the indicators are in agreement. Almost, but not yet. If I sell it, I will be taking profit @ the up move support if reached.

Last week, my targets were too ambitious, all my trades started in the right direction, but never hit the TP limits & stopped out the other way. Not happening this week!

Considering making a trade based on what happens at the 6460 level. If it breaks going short or if it pulls away over the next 30 min going long.

Its sitting right at the level which my home grown stuff indicates either continutaion or reversal Entry. About 70% of the time it is usually reliable for the first few bars giving time to set breakeven stops.

My bag of tricks has the USDCAD showing mixed on 15, 30, 60 min and daily. Absolutely no opinion on that one.

I give my EYRJPY a 60% chance of getting stopped and 40% making money so I will keep it open for a little while longer.

Other than that, the action may not kick in until Europe opens. Debating on calling it a night and getting up early to catch that action.

GOOD MORNING ASIA!!!!!! GOOD LUCK THIS WEEK!!!

USDCHF is showing a very strong potential to slide to a minmum of 1.3886 , I REPEAT , only the minimum target ... however at the moment it might correct but not to exceed 1.4104 b4 the min 1.3886 so a selling chance on any rally nearing 1.4104 if it does correct but since a min is not a must selling usdchf is still the approach ....then a bigger correction but not to exceed 1.4054 then the approach to a min of 1.3886 and max of 1.3339 then from there we discussed again!!!good luck guys!!!!

gep don't go by my directional readings they could be wrong. i am targeting a 2 day- 3 day period. i thought you would analyse and then let me know if i am wrong.. more like comparing books daily to see the results.

Rafe, as much as I would like to believe that, I don't have enough under mgmt. to be a traget yet. Give me another good year, maybe. I am realistic about my place in the market, but I often wonder why it was MY STOP that was munched @ the absolute highs of the day no less....

Dallas GEP 00:32 GMT September 1, 2003 Reply
That's good enough for me RAFE, SHORTED GBP/JPY at market.

ML// looks like your a target now.. people watching your calls learning the patterns, and then trying to run your stops.

this market has no rules

gep 183.15 is my models recommendation it may reverse there.

182.26 is also a possibility before reversing.

Well I have a 127.97 Short from Friday that is coming around. My 116.94 USD/JPY shorts have a chance at break even.

Yeah, ML August was TOUGH.

I personally had 3 seperate 50 pip stops hit while sleeping last week. That hadn't happened for months. So I'm not sleeping anymore with open positions it looks.

Rafe, your bands are always worth posting.

Just got back from a nice jog. I don't see anything worth taking even a small position. Still have the EURJPY ffrom earlier but that one isn't looking very strong at all. Will continue to watch it but not very hopeful.

More waiting I suppose. One lesson I learned a long time ago - its better to be bored than to tradde a loser.

GUYS// ok give me about 30 minutes to process the data then we are ready for action.

sharks may be using them when they are uncomfortable with their own levels or

sometimes try to nullify them meaning bands 2-3 may be reversals and everyone has come to count on that.. sharks may carry it past that level and reverse it at another point.

eg soros ! the much feared Central Bank breaker!

Dallas GEP 00:06 GMT September 1, 2003 Reply
I very much like the bands myself.

Dallas GEP 00:04 GMT September 1, 2003 Reply
I was going to ask you about the bands, RAFE!!!

Dallas GEP 00:03 GMT September 1, 2003 Reply
Rafe, IMO @ 1:1 R/R is only attainable at this time if you at at the extreme ends of the anticipated trading range. Assume for example the anticipated trading range of USD/JPY is 116.30 to 116.80 (which I think it is BTW). Takining it short HERE @ 116.60 with a STOP @ 116.90 COULD yield you 116.30 +30 PIPS but you risked 116.90 1:1.

The Global-View Forex Forum is the hub for currency trading on the web. Founded in 1996, it was the original forex forum and is still the place where forex traders around the globe come 24/7 looking for currency trading ideas, breaking forex news, fx trading rumors, fx flows and more. This is where you can find a full suite of forex trading tools, including a complete fx database, forex chart points, live currency rates, and live fx charts. In addition, there is a forex brokers directory where you can compare forex brokers. There is also a forex brokers hotline where you can ask for help choosing a forex broker that meets your individual fx trading needs. Interact on the same venue to discuss forex trading.

Forex News

The forex forum is where traders come to discuss the forex market. It is one of the few places where forex traders of all levels of experience, from novice to professionals, interact on the same venue to discuss forex trading. There is also the GVI Forex, which is a private subscription service where professional and experienced currency traders meet in a private forex forum. it is like a virtual forex trading room. This is open to forex traders of all levels of experience to view but only experienced currency tradingprofessionals can post.

Currency Trading

Currency trading charts are updated daily using the forex trading ranges posted in the Global-View forex database. You will also find technical indicators on the fx trading charts, e.g. moving averages for currencies such as the EURUSD. This is another forex trading tool provided by Global-View.com.

Forex Brokers

The forex database can be used to access high, low, close daily forex ranges for key currency pairs, such as the EURUSD, USDJPY, USDCHF, GBPUSD, USDCAD, AUD, NZD and major crosses, including EURJPY, EURGBP, EURCHF, GBPJPY, GBPCHF and CHFJPY. Data for these currency trading pairs dating back to January 1, 1999 can be downloaded to an Excel spreadsheet.

Forex Trading

Forex chart points are in a currency trading table that includes; latest fx tradinghigh-low-close range, Bollinger Bands, Fibonacci retracement levels, daily forex pivot points support and resistance levels, average daily forex range, MACD for the different currency trading pairs. You can look on the forex forum for updates when one of the fx trading tools is updated.

FX Trading

Global-View also offers a full fx trading chart gallery that includes fx pairs, such as the EURUSD, commodities, stocks and bonds. In a fx trading world where markets are integrated, the chart gallery is a valuable trading tool. Look for updates on the Forex Forum when the chart gallery is updated.

Forex Blog

Global-View.com also offers a forex blog, where articles of interest for currency trading are posted throughout the day. The forex blog articles come from outside sources, including forex brokers research as well as from the professionals at Global-View.com. This forex blog includes the Daily Forex View, Market Chatter and technical forex blog updates.
