News awaits transfer approval
Anthony Keane

GLOBAL investors will focus on Adelaide next week when News Corporation shareholders vote to transform the media group into a US-based company.Immediately after Tuesday's annual meeting at the Hilton Adelaide, News shareholders will vote on a proposal to shift the $62 billion company's domicile and primary stock exchange listing to the US.
Large shareholder AMP Capital Investors said this week it would abstain from voting at Tuesday's meeting because "the benefits to Australian shareholders remain unclear".

The Australian Shareholders Association is voting to support the move and believes it will be passed.

Probably Aud neg so be careful up here for a swift correction

why won't people learn from past mistakes? it happens many times year by year, sep-oct-nov sell dollar! it is a clear range breakout and yet people still hope for reversal, forget it i say this rally in euro is self-sustaining, there are plenty speculators down there 1.24-1.25 even under 1.2640 now hoping for a bit of retracement to get out quickly so everytime euro is approaching that level it will just be bought again

weekly charts suggest more evidence, this is the start only, will accelerate starting this week and we have seen just a few hours into the week

Anyone else insist they don't see the E/$ breakout happening? GT all...we're headed one way or the other to 1.30 soon enough then to 1.35 or higher around Christmas.
I hope everyone's longed the rogue, what more can I say?

Just another garden variety breakout like the ones we've already:
4/1/02-7/16/02
12/1/02-2/1/03
4/09/03-5/30/03
9/1/03=10/9/03
11/11/03-1/11/04

But don't believe me, believe the 3 year chart.

nah, where is BOJ?prove it..people keep saying that and it won't happen
they would be stupid to intervene now, it will just make the dollar more vulnerable
if they do intervene, it will just provide better entry level to sell dollar again, it is a lose-lose situation for usd...i just can't think of anything that can save usd

OK it looks pretty clear IMO that the dollar will be beat up some more today at least early on. There are some that are betting on the BOJ to come in and but dollars but that is a dangerous game so if you LONG usd HERE have VERY deep light pockets or very small possies. As you are aware I primarily trade reversals but I DO NOT see one at this time.

Perth WTR 23:42 GMT October 24, 2004 Reply
keep selling dollar, there is no way it will come back, it is a sell-off..crash
just look at dollar index, potentially break-out gap today....it is just gonna accelerate down thru 85 level easily and never look back again

Oct. 25 (Bloomberg) -- The dollar is likely to drop on concern that international investors are scaling back purchases of U.S. assets, according to a Bloomberg survey of currency traders and strategists.

Sixty-three percent of the people polled Oct. 22 from Tokyo to New York advised selling the dollar against the euro, the most in five months. The survey also indicated the dollar will drop versus the yen, Swiss franc and Australian dollar.

NEW YORK, Oct 24 (Reuters) - More than 56 percent of U.S. money managers are "bullish" or "very bullish" about the U.S. stock market near term, forecasting stocks will move higher in the next eight months, according to a new Barron's poll.
Those surveyed expect the Dow Jones Industrial Average to hit 10,724 by the end of the year and jump to 11,162 by June 30, 2005, driven by "falling oil prices, a relatively strong economy and the re-election of President Bush," the weekly newspaper said in its Oct. 25 edition.

Six months ago, the average forecast in the poll was for the Dow to hit 11,042 by the end of the year.

Barron's said 85 percent of respondents expected President George W. Bush to win re-election.

China is trying to buy Noranda for $6.7 billion. Canada also has the largest supply of oil in the world in oil sands and china is eyeing that.

China cannot buy as much resources as they want without pushing prices to the moon, so they are now using their trade surpluses to buy Canadian mining companies.

china also doesn't like thhe 30% loss in equity from the falling dollar.

I have traded Canadian mining shares for almost 25 years. I come over here to see what the currencies are doing because of the inverse correlation between the dollar and gold.

yea i read somthing on that the other day, china is trying to buy canada's largest raw metals materieal manufacturing facility for some unreal amount of money and the canadian goverment has stepped in to stop it for futher review

There's agood article on Chinese demand for Canadian raw materials in yesterdays's National Post and here on-line (hope the link works; other wise go to www.nationalpost.com and look for the article an China). One tends to forget what a big impact the booming Chinese economy is going to have in the near future on other economies...

empoli (italy) ab, I am not sure how far from the current point Yen will open, but I do not expect it to be effected too much. Earthquake was not the same size as Kobe. Damages are not that bad and it happened not in a major city. Your limit might not get executed but I can not tell. Do not forget the the first market to open is Asian FX and they usually not such a big market movers.

Sydney gvm, Tokyo IM, good afternoon to u, any chance to have ur predictions abt openiong level tonite for USD YEN pls?
i remained short at 107,65 friday nite and i have a 107,05/108,10 oco oda and now dont know what is better to do. Even if i lower my sl at 107,35 for example im afraid opening levels will be higher, and at same time i dont think this event will affect too much yen strenght (also for ur post gvm abt situation after KOBE earthquake), ur tohughts will be gratly apreciated thanks in advance

Sydney gvm, very good idea. But this time the effect is not that big. If any effect will be seen I think it will be of a speculative nature. I do not expect any changes in fundamentals.

Tokyo IM - might be worth looking at effect of Kobe earthquake on $/yen - much more serious earthquake and yen closed day before (Jan16, 1995) @ 98.44. In the following 5 days it hit a high of 100.25 and was back down below 98.44 within 10 trading days. I would prefer buying yen on any kneejerk reaction in Monday Asia trading

Hey SZ hope you are doing well. Your Sooners put a whomping on my WIldcats a few weeks back......but what should I expect...the Jayhawks even beat them this year......Oh the SHAME!~

Regarding the "WizeTrade"......guess what, they are the same jokers that brought us infomercials on forex with "4Xmade easy"....which is their FX version of WizeTrade...........

I want to go to another of their "introductory seminars" and ask where the F*** the YELLOW light is...............LOL

Some news about Japanese earthquake: News about it is all over the TV. 18 dead and about 1400 injured. Earthquake was one of the big ones but it did not happen in central Tokyo so not so meny damages all togather. My view of it as far as market concerned. I do not think it will bring $/Yen too high but I am sure it will have some effect. As far as my projections go I am looking at it as a matter on how speculaters will accept this news. Some confidence may be damaged by this event and it may effect other major currencies.

In addition, there is a forex brokers directory where you can compare forex brokers. There is also a forex brokers hotline where you can ask for help choosing a forex broker that meets your individual fx trading needs. Interact on the same venue to discuss forex trading.

Forex News

The forex forum is where traders come to discuss the forex market.
