CALL THEM. Talk to thier customer service guys and tell them what hapened. If you are not a habitual complainer, they will likely buy back the trade from you if you were not filled at your level and your station started to lag.

I have done this many times and they have always taken care of it for my clients. You owe it to yourself to make it right.

Thanks mate. I'm in no way blaming FXXCM for this. I got greedy, and also panicked a little closing out the stalled orders too early. A salutory lesson. Time to cool my heels and look forward to next week. Have a good weekend.

What a session! Well, this was one day's trading that got away from me. There I was riding the eur/usd wave - buying, then selling, buying the selling. Within an 30 minutes I was up 500 pips, and loaded up with a nice sized possy for that major spike down from 3320.

All I had to do was sit tight and watch the pips pour in, but no, greedy f%^$%# idiot that I am adds to my positions, the orders stalled on the FXXCM terminal and didn't get filled until the bottom, the thing bounced back, and bang, I'm in the red.

Sorry for the delay Tor Pumpkin, when it's slow I go poke around on the piano. As for my post, as usual I mistyped. I meant to say the recent eurousd rise (not eurocad, which I have on my brain after yesterday), sorry. But as for the dates in USDCAD, say from april91-sept98 (skipping the raggedy stuff from thenn until the start of the collapse); and also the one that ended in Feb 86 or so. I don't know how good the actual comparisons are; I just remembered that 0.75 cents (i.e. 1.3333) was a pretty momentous point when we crossed it for the first time...

re: Globex: Everything seems to be moving steadily toward electronic trading. I'm sure in the not-too-distant future, the Merc, CBOT and the NYSE will be museums and restaurants. There'll come a time when pit traders won't be able to keep up with the market. John Reed said (some years ago, now),"Money is information on the move." More prophetic than he knew at the time. I'll look them up and post a couple of websites for you on the Help Forum about the Treasury market and electronic trading....

I've noticed that volume has sky-rocketed in Eurodollar on CME month-over-month. Globex seems to be just attracting new money or sucking up pit traders to move to electronic screens.

I was just wondering how you like trading interest rate futures compared to other securities. I've traded T-bills and they simply move inverse correlation to S&P500 index futures.

GEP, that is why I have all 4 platform on the left of screen...and if any be funny I quit and move the money to those that suit my trading. It is not right for them to NOT allow the quick ins and out...after all they make money on the spreads twice.....unless they are poorly hedge then they don't deserve to be on the left list. So far none have dared take me offline some I notice are delaying the execution...but that is another debatable story. Dont forget in reality they could be making more due to their data feed...all in all they could be making 5 pips on a 3 pips spread...that means 1 full circle they make 10 for sitting on their bums doing nothing....There is no loss to them in this game ... believe me...I know the logic behind their business....You at worst get margin out ...they can still cover BE at WORST + the pips spread.

Whoops...typing this note my gbpusd possie got taken...should have taken the pips on offer before I started typing...oh well ... that is why need to keep an eye like hawk!!

Short gbpusd 1.8926 out 1.8914 +12-7 = +5 flat. Reshort higher. Notice the lower high on 15 mins

Short gbpusd 1.8934 sl 7 above...when it come against trend line like that I have to take a position...letting this one run me down.. Gold losing momentum too!!...I need to rest for a while

From GVI earlier...
Friday has been an active session for forex trading, but conditions are dangerously thin. The dollar hit the skids early following a report on the wires that a Chinese daily said that a senior official at the People's Bank of China (PBOC) made it known that the central bank has reduced its holdings of U.S. Treasuries bonds during the recent fall of the dollar. Prices of U.S. treasuries are modestly weaker in London, but they certainly have not fallen out of bed yet, Also, U.K. MPC member Bean indicated on Friday that the dollar could fall further. Overseas markets are understandably very nervous about the dollar, and this led to a sharp sell-off in the unit early in the day that was followed be a sudden short-covering rally as reportedly some larger players acted as though they were working intervention orders from the central banks. Sources indicate that there has been no official activity yet, but there is always the possibility that some central banks have been working beneath the radar screen though a couple of selected institutions. The weaker dollar has seen overseas bourses trading lower. The prices on bunds and gilts are a bit higher on the day, but the prices on JGBs fell on profit-taking on a sharp advance earlier in the week. Friday is a semi holiday session in the U.S. and dealer participation is expected to be low. No key data are slated for release and most markets will be closing early.

Austin gdw,

I am using 3, 10, 15, 30, 1 hour for today trade....mainly the 15 and 30 and occasionally 1 hour to check trend..+ most important... a bias view that USD is over...over sold and lots of nervous nellies out there + big boys are there to play the market!!I hope that helps and yes one eye at usdjpy, gold, eurusd and price action...+ the quick desire to take 1-5 pip gain or if bonus 10 pips occur like my gbpusd short...I take it and be happy so out now and flat...gl gt...I am out flat and planning to reshort again!!!

its not that simple for china to trim their us treasuries, while at the same time they still peg yuan to usd. the same rule applied to BOJ because they dont want USD to fall.

we have to divide countries having US as their biggest (or at least big) tradepartner eq japan china and those which not eq russia.

A denial from China that it is running down its holdings of U.S. Treasurys is helping trigger profit-taking at midday in Europe Friday and lifting the dollar back up against the euro and the yen. Yu Yongding, an advisor to the People's Bank of China's monetary policy committee quoted in the story issued a denial. He said that China's Treasury bond purchases are still growing and his remarks were based on data from the U.S. Federal Reserve, rather than any inside knowledge of China's reserve management. Management of the reserves, totaling about $515 billion, is a closely guarded secret.
The denial helped to give dollar sellers an excuse to start taking profits as business starts to wind down ahead of the weekend. Apart from anything else, investors appear keen to protect themselves against any surprise announcement coming out of China's Economic Policy Forum this weekend. This annual weekend of economic planning for the year ahead will more than likely include discussion of a revaluation of the yuan, although none expect any concrete news to emerge.
Japanese Finance Minister Sadakazu Tanigaki also helped raise expectations by warning of "stern" action to stop the dollar's decline, if needed.

Dealers in Singapore said fundamental dollar weakness was exacerbated by a report in a Chinese newspaper that China was cutting its holdings of US Treasury debt in its foreign exchange reserves to avoid losses from a weakening dollar.
"There are speculations that Chinese authorities have cut their bond reserves," IDEAglobal currency strategist Malcolm Tan said.
"Today is an extension of the weak dollar trend," he said.
The dollar slide continued amidst concerns about the ballooning US current account and budget deficits and the US authorities' reticence in addressing the depreciation of the dollar.
Comments by Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan last week even seemed to reflect the market's view that a weak dollar is part of a strategy to address US economic imbalances.
"Unless the US officials start speaking in one voice, speculators will continue to drive the dollar down," Tan said

NJ RT 09:26 GMT. There are many good people on this forum. Let me give you my thoughts. With respect to EUUS, I'll take 1,318 and 1,333 as the daily lo and hi up till now. Good odds they will mark today's extremes, although I wouldn't rule out attempts to take out stops on either side, most likely around the time New York kicks in. So, if you're long this pair, place a S/L somewhere below 1,318 and take your loss. However, chances are still good you'll get an opportunity to get out near your breakeven if it's near the top of the today's range. What we just witnessed is nothing more than a shakeout of the weaker hands, making this a two way market. It was getting too one sided. The market will test today's upper extreme sooner rather than later. Hope this helps.

quito_ecuador_valdez 18:46 / Retracements on eur/$ will be very shallow. Ever since the summer range breakout, L/T funds have been selling USD against the majors, and versus the medium term (in the hope they may get in on dips?). Anywhere between 1.2940/1.2845 is a buy, s/l 1.2825 and the target 132.95/133.40. Below 1.2825, good demand at 1.2735.

Two intractable wars and 77 million baby boomers coming on line in 3 years. Outsourcing everything to asia.

And the rest of the world woul like to see the us taken to the wood shed for our military adventurism. And no way to extracate ourselves from either of those wars. We will lose to the mullahs in Iraq. Lose!

And We have become the midwives of a whole new generation of muslim terrorists.

Interestingly, the commodities demand from asia will continue. What a mixturre of variables-lol.

Taking out the resistance levels like my dad was carving into the turkey today. Thin volume markets make it easy for the bulls to push the price action higher just as they have done for the past 2 years when they started this trend. I don’t see why that should not happen this year too. My resistance numbers stand the same so we will see how high these greedy rascals take this pair to. GL GT

Craig Ferguson, senior currency strategist at ANZ. sees risks in the next week for the Aussie dollar While a solid uptrend appears to entrenched, the Australian dollar's rally could all reverse quickly if the Bank of Japan intervenes to support the U.S. dollar as many expect it will soon. "If the BOJ wishes to be aggressive in their intervention... then the corrections in the Euro and the Australian dollar may be larger," Ferguson warned. And with speculative positioning now heavily weighted in favor of Australian dollar longs, and retreat is likely to be sharp.

"We could still see a nasty corrective phase unfold."

Of course you are right in stating that the Japanese
would prefer Doll/YEN above 100
But if you were around nearly 10 years ago when it did break down below the 100 mark - the Japanese could do nothing abouit it
It was Japanese Option traders whop mugged the dollar and thru 100 and eventually to 80 because they coulnt believe that it could
So be prepared
The Gov't has done a great job from this move happening again to date
But when it breaks They cannot STOP its momentum

It is in japan's best interest to keep yen above 100. They let 105 level to break and may not like to see dollar/yen trading around 70. If they do, euro and pound correction should see gbp/yen around 170 and euro/yen below 130. There is no doubt that the recent Dollar fall is with the consent of US Finance ministry and ECB too will be happy to let market drive their currency to 1.37** and then a long term correction towards 1.16** I have been a euro bull since long and planning to start short from 1.3350 level for a short time only. One of my speculation which is supporting tech view could be :

There is possible way of letting euro to pull back some while usd/jpy holds its hands and then let go eur losse on long eur/jpy catch up game , while ECB might get help to keep the lid on eur/usd and it will help to push usd/jpy to higher levels .
But before it happen , ther is good chance that there will be shake up of longs usd/jpy , coz someone got to pay for it .

Taiwan tech firms with ops in China may be hit by FX double whammy if Beijing revalues CNY: Rising CNY would increase costs at China-based factories of Taiwan's biggest techs, at time stiff competition, falling USD already eating into profits; lower USD has caused suffering among Taiwan techs, who largely paid in USD. Comes during peak Christmas sales season and as prices aren't rising as USD falters, producers stand to lose money; CNY revalue "would also hurt. The majority of their cost is yuan based,"

As I mentioned B4 since April 17 that nothing will help, and that euro will reach 1.5641.

Let us try to apply that number roughly to the Canadian.

DIvide that target price by the present price 1.5641/1.3262= 1.17938

If Cad$ will appreciate that amount we get

1.1770/1.17938=0.998 and Voila!!! PARITY.

Some more accurate Calcu point to 0.98$ or 0.92$ longer term.

Forex News

The forex forum is where traders come to discuss the forex market. It is one of the few places where forex traders of all levels of experience, from novice to professionals, interact on the same venue to discuss forex trading. There is also the GVI Forex, which is a private subscription service where professional and experienced currency traders meet in a private forex forum. it is like a virtual forex trading room. This is open to forex traders of all levels of experience to view but only experienced currency tradingprofessionals can post.

Currency Trading

Currency trading charts are updated daily using the forex trading ranges posted in the Global-View forex database. Forex Brokers

The forex database can be used to access high, low, close daily forex ranges for key currency pairs, such as the EURUSD, USDJPY, USDCHF, GBPUSD, USDCAD, AUD, NZD and major crosses, including EURJPY, EURGBP, EURCHF, GBPJPY, GBPCHF and CHFJPY. Data for these currency trading pairs dating back to January 1, 1999 can be downloaded to an Excel spreadsheet.

Forex Trading

Forex chart points are in a currency trading table that includes; latest fx tradinghigh-low-close range, Bollinger Bands, Fibonacci retracement levels, daily forex pivot points support and resistance levels, average daily forex range, MACD for the different currency trading pairs. You can look on the forex forum for updates when one of the fx trading tools is updated.
