I can't tell you where will be in the next few days but for me if 1.3735 bid prints, then 1.3770 is my target. Ok, ok, the dollar has lost its mojo but a retracement is likely to happen. It also depend on the us datas and many others things that prevent me to make forecasts beyond 1 day.

My system is confirming the retracement
euro should open below 1.2119, chf above 1.2730, pound below 1.8127 to clearly confrim a dollar strike back. There is a dodji on the daily chart for those three majors. We all know then, that the probability of a retracement with this kind of configuration is maiximum. Tomorrow there is an important statistic for the pound (Consumer Confidence). Only a good surprise could inverse the bias given by this dodji.

Hello everyone,
Eur/$
I see market close at same close price of yesterday 1.2105.
So i think we will have the same senario,
First, a move down to 1.2095 (bid)
then move up to 1.2130 (bid)
and return back to 1.2095 (bid)
close at 1.2105 (bid) Unless key support at 1.2095 is broken.
That is a selling signal.
I see no buying signal in near term.
I favor short EUR/$ at 1.2115-1.2130 target 1.2095 and then 1.2014 S/L 1.255
Your comments are appretiated. GL/GT

Those that are long eurusd, I am expecting a pullback today(with 83% probability), to atleast 1.2066, and then high probability to reach further back to 1.2000'ish and has a 50% chance of being printed today. We will stil be limited at 1.2200, which is indicating rangebound trade.

It's a bit premature to sell the pound as I should wait for an opening below 1.8125 to short it but it looks obvious we are gone for a retracement since 1.82 has been rejected by 60 pips and we are below a level that has been bravely protected for serveral hours. Short at 1.8140 for 1.8065.

EUR-JPY - Big picture looks fragile with daily studies poised to cross bearishly. Recent loss of 135.10, the 61.8% retrace of the previous 134.35-136.30 recovery, adds to thoughts of sub 134.35 levels with 133.05 eventually possible. Back over 135.60 is needed to diminish the down-side risk for now.

Dollar Lower...Wait A Minute (FXA)
Plenty of damage done to dollar technically on Tuesday with the break of key bull t-lines in dollar index, versus euro and stg while versus chf dlr broke channel support and went through big retracement (50% from Jan-Feb lows). Price action is flushing out a dollar bearish story as I noted in yesterday's alert. Oil is seen reducing Fed need to hike, Fed rate hikes and then some (more than Fed has in mind) are fully priced in at the short-end of the Tsy curve. And the US structural imbalances are again receiving attention (current account funding problem).
So why my hesitation?... See full story in our New Research Section, accessible by a link in the middle of our homepage, on the right sidebar under Analysis or news, or by Clicking Here

Though you cannot get it right every time, look at the bigger picture and respect the longer term trends and ranges. They seldom break first go. Be patient. Gather experience. Relax. :)

So far the reaction off the lows in the majors seems to be typical of the dry period between significant data releases - a 50% retracement would take most currencies vs USD above the last bounce and back towards highs of early April -- Swissy seems to be leading // US bond market is whistling past the graveyard as it tries push 10 year below 4.70 yield
USD/CHF -- this one likely to break below 1.26 as the 21 da mva breaks the 55 ema - couldn't stay above 200 da -- most likely to overshoot 50% retracement trading off SNB rate hike expectation so could be buy the rumor sell the news
EUR/USD -- likely to challenge the early April crossover of 21 sma and 55 ema crossover at the 1.24 lvl -- the 21 da upside crossing of 55 ema now is lagging the swissy chart but is likely to cross // MACD moving into positive territory
Cable -- held the last downmove at 200 da mva - only one of the five discussed here to do so - 1.83 seems easy target and then 21 da crossover of 55 ema pushes this towards 1.85 (about the time of rate hike?) - still think this will break below 200 da mva in early summer
AUD/USD - popped above the declining 21 da mva so the first target here is a bit above .72 where the 200 da mva is still rising - a 50% retracement gives some good profit still on this one - MACD has just started to rise
USD/CAD -- the 50% retracement here is also at the 200 da lvl around 1.33 but some support at 55 ema around 1.3570 - IMO the fundamentals on this have changed from likelihood of rate cut to a rate hike in late summer // Fed move will probably hold this over 1.32 (where the 21 da and 55 ema last jousted)
this retracement doesn't seem strong enough to take USD to new lows (old trend) but too early to tell if we are in the beginning of a new trend

Why is everyone so bearish this dollar suddenly? All we're doing is returning to pre-NFP meltdown points. All these levels on the majors rather major take-off points in what was being called the big bull run. Some consolidation or retracement (or even reversal !! remember being long dollars?) are all in order.

So they are ranges. Off course I am serious. I see something I dont understand I ask. I don't know how you derive these ranges, but I like some of them. Others I find meaningless without more of an explanation. eg the eur/usd I have a t/p in at 1.2205 I had a look this mornign andf thought 1.178 ahead of a long w/e could be better. Don't find the other leg of that one 1.1950ish much helpful because I just dont know how thing will pan out and under wich circumstances we reach that.

take it easy guys, we haven't even got to 1.2150 for euro, let alone 1.2180 and 1.2210, without a decent and healthy retracement there is no way 1.24+ be printed any soon....as soon as and if we got to 1.22+ i would expect a 200 pips retracement first, IMHO of course gl gt

FED rates @ 1.5% = EUR/USD @ 1.1200-1.1400
Going to this range from 1.2400-1.2600 is more logic than going to there from 1.1650-1850 (does logic counts?)
The outcoming US data within the next 2-3 weeks will ensure rates hike during the JUN/04 meeting.
OIL prices: shorting for SEP-DEC/04 contracts is a sure thing (as long sure thing exists in trading).
China: proved to be best USD friend, the recent industrial data from China data is screaming for much stronger USD

The question about selling oil in euros is for now just a diplomatic stances..To get something or leverage with the USA.
I think the real thing to look for was the certainty the market players were told how "healthy" the state of the U.S economy was..and that the rates were about to be raised..Now there are delays, oil is up..there's no inflation...
thus market goes back to it's previous idea...that USA isnt healthy as pointed out.

Yes, I know about the interest rates and the other things that pushed the euro around 1.17. But on the other hand, there are the deficit of the us economy ( and others things..) but above all, I heard the OPEC could decide to sell the oil in euro and not in dollar anymore and that would be a big slap for the greenback/

FX UPDATE 26/05
Good morning,
***EUR***
EUR/USD (currently 1,2110), 70 pips higher than yesterday opening. The market keeps pusihng upwards and broke 1,2060 resistance as expected on slightly weaker US consumers confidence index for May. We are still monitoring our 1,2170 target (1,2170 today our 200 period daily weighted moving average) with chances to reach 1,2350 since enough momentum was accumulated since April. The market is worried about the impact of high oil prices on the US economy. For today, we will be looking to build long positions on any retracements to 1,2060-80 for a 1,2170 target then 1,2350 medium term.
Data out today:
EURozone industrial new orders March expected 0.5% 07.00 GMT
UK GDP Q2 expected 0.7% 08.30 GMT
US durable good orders April expected -1.0% 12.30 GMT
US new home sales April expected 1200K 14.00 GMT
Gold at 389,00, with WTI July at 41,16
***JPY***
USD/JPY (111,70). The pair was rejected at 113,30 yesterday and retraced to current level on general USD weakness and on substantial NIKKEY rebound overnight. Our bullish scenario has been negated by this failure at 113,30, and next strong support currently stands around 110,50 level. We'll wait such level to turn bullish (115 still remains to be broken to open door to 114-120 range)
EUR/JPY currently 135,40, we're looking for price action to hover around 135,50 today.
***GBP***
Cable (currently 1,8140), bullish since yesterday. We reiterate our bullish views: the market is moving upwards and is setting up a new 1,82-1,86 trading range.
EUR/GBP (0,6680) stable but looking offered nevertheless since a couple of weeks. We still favour some buy on dips strategy but will be cautious as a significant break of 0,6680 would negate scenario and imply a test of 0,6620.Resistances at 0.6730 then 0,6760.
Have a nice day,
Olivier

NORMANDY NICK....We have to wait and see before forming opinions like long euro to 125....you will find that the days when euro was 125-128 are long gone taking into play the current economic factors that were not in play when euro was 125+....the next 4 trading sessions will see euro reverse gradually back to 118..right now the trading mode should be trading the ranges, and not opening long positions....g/l

The honest feeling of hk people is v. v. frustrated.
We don't want those "fake" democrats to destroy the relationship with China while we also hate the incapable and inefficient gov't.
Let's stop. It's FF. :D

L// concur about the UK part.
Problem to US seems that they don't care about where their money have gone and just print print prints....
It will not be a revival of US econ. but pumping more hot money to developing countries mkt.
At some points, it's good. Look at China, India, S.E.
All are benefited with the "anticipated" income.

Dollar must fall to cool US trade gap-economists
"Another 20-25 percent from where we are now is plausible to reduce the current account deficit by 3 percent of GDP (gross domestic product)," Mike Mussa, a former International Monetary Fund chief economist, told a conference on how much further the dollar should fall and against what currencies.

One thing we have to consider with new terror threats and the oil price reaching record levels , are the Fed going to be in a rush to raise interest rates ? cant see them suffocating a recovery in its infancy.
