Will the Fed's Slow-Mo Approach Backfire?
CAREFULLY orchestrated utterances from various Federal Reserve Board members make it clear that when the Fed starts raising interest rates in coming months, it will do so gingerly, as in ever so gradually. They are desperate to avoid a repeat of 1994, when aggressive rate increases of three percentage points over one year helped precipitate financial traumas of the sort that occurred in Mexico and in Orange County, Calif.

My view (sans Neomy Campbel):
Kosn==should wash out the stops at 10 and then a buy at 9.50
brks==have no idea--middle of range
CMOS==no idea-middle of range.
DITC==too late for me. after huge jump on friday. res is 25 and we are already at 21
JNS==Does not speak to me. middle of range.
MKSI==Same- middle of range.

This is how I see those. I do not use models. I am more S/r Trend/Trading range person with total dedication to Point and Figure.

Haifa,
Maybe by now U know I am a modeler...(17 Years in the field)...and I always say the same as u statamed about Eur/Jpy and intc...they are nothing Random Variables to me.
been trying to to ftp a file (Excel)...which contains Volitile stocks...(Trend and entry level for each) about 450 stocks..what is does is basiclly wait for any of the stocks to hit the Decision / Trigger Level and will inform the user that it did. Sort of like ground control...No chart no listening to anything...it sort of simplfies trading.

If you want I will post the url as soon as I ftp it someplace.
Generally I will this room anyways.
Thanks

U Trade stocks? Haifa/Sorry for the late response. Took a nap. Yes. Of course. I trade eveery thing that goes up and down and I can detect a trend. In today world where you have SSf (Single Stock Futures, even tho they have not picked up steam yet)--what is the difference between EURJPY and INTC?? both are manipulated the same way.

I did not mean recommending buying gold... as a story that everyone knows is no story anymore.
I suspect that those bears whom shorted gold upon the down-break of the 200-Dma are feeling very bad now and will try to bail ASAP.
What I am trying to figure out now is why the Saudis are delaying the release of the complete details of the rescue operation.
Instead we get assurance news like: "Saudi To Deploy National Guard To Protect Offices".
Hope that I am wrong, but looks like 30 of the hostages are in the other world. Hope I am wrong.

IN Engineering School...they always said creating a solution is as equal creating another problem...these fundementalists here are the most corrupt and control freaks...they use to push others into things they have nothing to do with...they do it on the emotional level..and religous...only for thier long term gain of material...the best is keep away from this...I don't even want to understand it...cause there is nothing to understand.

You may say those terror attack are laughable, but for the time being it is chilling the world to read news as:.... One man, who said he was among 25 hostages freed in the operation, told AFP news agency the militants had slit the throats of nine captives.
"The nine had their throats cut by the kidnappers when they tried to escape at night by the stairs," said Nijar Hijazin, a Jordanian computer engineer.
The Arab News newspaper said the gunmen dragged a body behind a car, mirroring an attack earlier this month in western Saudi Arabia. Gunmen in that attack had dragged the body of an American victim from the bumper of their car. The world is terrified.
What can we expect now???

1) Definitely more american involvment in Saudi or Saudi security.

2) Iranian are planning to send terrorists into Iraq to avenge the desecration of Shiit mosques.

3) Iraq: Happy days are expected this month before the transfer of power.

In short when danger is imminent to the oil-ways U.S will stick to the valves at all cost.

I think that from the market point of view today-attack is more significant than that in spain weeks ago (after all spain has no oil) and may be the second significant after 9/11/.

Al-Qaeda cruelty of today came at the right time for the American administration, and the world will forget how Iraqi prisoners were treated (this is no more an issue).

This attack will definitely increase the popularity of Bush (public will feel a need for a strong man), thus giving him more free hand in the midle east.
Thus>>>>> more military events.

The Israelis will take advantage of the situation, and will step up their military operations against militant palestinian groups, so no one will be spared of dull moments in the coming days.

In my post at HK [email protected] 04:16 GMT May 29, 2004 I smelled (mostly based on intuition) a possibility of a strong golden bull market, then came the attack in Saudi. Now we have to wait and see how the market will react.

Successful traders do one thing all the time: they SELECT. They sift the chaff from the wheat and choose ONLY those trades with high probaility of success (based on models, synergy, collusions of time frames etc.).
GS told the Japanese after they lose a bundle in investement:

In Production you have to do the things right.
In Investement youhave to do the right things.

BiNomial Experment...
But still the Binomial Experment makes a so Runs test...In Non-Parameteric Stats...
Simple says...that if something has 50% success rate...for it do that 5 times in a raw...=0.5^5...very small chance...then... 0.5^7...is way too small to do another...and so on.

Since it's Predictable 50%...the best thing is to wait for it to the redicalous many times then go the other way...
I am an expert in telling people to put effort into where it can't go..rather then go..
LOL...Then sine there are two choices for it to...then U have a good trade.. :)

so called "terror" attacks are laughable. All they are doing is getting all the governments of the world mobilized against the extremeists. Who will fund them now? This looks like it is turning into a world war against terrorists/fundementalist muslims.

Bye bye muslim fundementalists, These guys are history.

This will be a big week, I believe. All nations are pulling their people out of Saudi Arabia. Those guys run the oil fields. This will exacerbate the very serious oil problem and add more world tension.

Bottom line you can bet this problem in the middle east will not end smoothly. Everyone loses in this one I think. US dollar cannot rally in this environment.

Gold could really rise. If some Saudi's start becoming concerned about insurrection in that country, lot of gold would be bought and sent to switzerland and other countries for safe keeping.

The middle east is coming apart. And if the tribes start colescing according to tribal alliances we could see a new set of countries, but not without much bloodshed. Kurdds, shia and sunni could come together according to tribes..

How can the tension be relieved. It can't, and that is the point.

KHOBAR, Saudi Arabia (AP)--Saudi commandos leapt from helicopters onto a building where suspected Islamic militants were holding dozens of U.S., European and other hostages Sunday at a luxury expatriate housing compound in the kingdom's oil production hub.

The militants, wearing military-style uniforms, had at first sprayed gunfire inside two oil company office compounds in Khobar, 400 kilometers northeast of Riyadh near the Gulf coast, killing at least 10 people. They then retreated into a high-rise in Oasis Residential Resorts complex, where they took the hostages.

Saudi security forces stormed the walled housing compound and surrounded the attackers on the sixth floor of a building, a police officer told The Associated Press. After little activity overnight, just after sunrise, three security forces helicopters arrived and dropped off commandos.
