valdez// Develop your own model in isolation, successfully trading it becomes your style. that is my secret. i used to post my bands but everyone had theor own style of trading them.

I have never read any books on trading just did very light research on a few things and found it's not going to do what i am looking for so i said **ck it.. i'll get it done myself! and i did and still am doing it.

like that i was able to think outside of the box.

Right Carib. Neat work I may add. What I wanna stress to newcomers & I think U'll agree is ones tries a lot of techniques, studies 1 year, doesn't go 100% by what others or I say works...try stuff! Develop your style always trying at least what others preach. 1 year. Afterall one's style is one's style, developed from others' and yours. After 1 year you'll have a base to continue studying. Seat of pants seems to be best seat for me.

Dublin// A quirk about this forum is that if one posts certain URLs even tho they are ADVERTISED herein, the forum programming censors them. So go to the right side bar, click Data & Tools then click Charts. That's my fav, but more experienced TA traders use others with more TA gizmos. BTW my SMAs below are hitting seemingly..2 early 2 tell. If so, case in point where TA at times beats chart gawking like I do.

Caribbean! Rafe... 23:36 GMT July 5, 2004 Reply
valdez// I agree technical analysis while it's good sometimes goes wrong,it's frustrating because you sometimes don't know how to go over and find out where you made the mistake and then fear it happening again in a different way under a different market condition and when you look at it this way you can place 6 winners with TA but the 7th one could be a loser and take most if not all of your profits with it.

i speak for myself don't know about anyone else but i guess it would apply to some people here as well, I somehow prefer to use mathematical models because you know where chance exists for error and guess you can consistently repeat successes provided market conditions are favourable.

eg my model performs at peak when we see outside days and fails when we have to deal with inside days so when i see certain criteria not being met i can guess in advance we are going to have an inside day etc etc ect.

OK...take a small (real!) story....guy works 12-14 HRS per day and does real fine...managed to have enough for a summer car (brand new MB SLK).
Guy wants in place of SLK to have SLR (costs 10 times more) but got not enough mobility budget, than guy goes FX.

The question I ask, will guy go no summer car (or second hand MX5)...OR guy will get his SLR....OR guy will so much money that he will start a support fund for kids who get lost thanks to F***** gambling parents.

Keeping short because of sudden rise on 7/2 most times sees sudden fall...betting on that common pattern. Also to test up 80 pips to 1.2370+ usually support needs 1st be tested...some agree w/that 2. Some of course say no...BB + OTHERS say yes maybe not agreeing w/my reasoning. Flip a coin. If wrong I simply lose a few pips, flip to EUR.

I.E.: last eur/usd short now in force at 1.2290 was premature...BB made the entry at 1.2335...45 pips better..pay more attn to GEP, Notthingham, Biscuit Boy, Chicago Irish, bc and a few others. Well I hope everyone had a good weekend and holiday. I see the natives got a bit restless here but like ZA says it’s all Gooood LOL. Eur/usd is in a definite bullish channel now no mistake about it. Retracement numbers as long as 1.2330-35 holds and the indicators unwind from the O/B territory is 1.2260-50, 1.2230-40 and 1.2205-15. I am still in party mode so I will be back later. GL GT

There are times when a trader gets hot and a lot of calls go his way but there are also the cold periods and that is when the trader gets tested the most. The discipline and commitment with a good system working will swing the % on your favor to make it through the long haul.

BB good calls lately you are on fire and I am glad for you. The website is a nice idea to help others and that is very good on your part. The best for you and for those that give with out expecting anything in return in the end you will be REWARDED IMO.

regarding gbp-jpy....200 was the magic # to break on our last trip towards 210...too a few times to break it, but when it did, it was pure bliss (for a week or so anyway LOL) in the account equity;-). With my hourly stuff starting to show some divergences now on it, I'd expect a pullback now, exactly how far I don't know really. 200 is the 50% fib from 205-195, so maybe 197.25 being "optomistic" on it.

If it breaks through 200 with a strong move, I'd look for 204.70 as potential target area.

"Because of money or the desire to excel over others, a trader’s own fear and greed and his ability to curtail these psychologies plays a crucial role in his success in trading or lack thereof. It simply is not possible to consistently win on every single attempt at a trade. Trading comes with it the challenges of losing and, worse yet, losing streaks that the trader must be able to contend with over a long period of time. On top of this, a trader must also be able to curtail the tendency for over-confidence in a winning streak, as this puts him in a very vulnerable situation to give back what he had just made, and, in many cases, even more - all because of the lack of discipline. Add to this the challenges that come from a trader’s world outside of the market, and indeed, individual psychology is one aspect of trading that any participant needs to master in order to preserve capital and be in the position to stay in the game and beat the markets.
Discipline is not an innate quality. It needs to be, and can be cultivated through practice." - OAT..........

FX UPDATE 05/07
Good morning,

***EUR***
EUR/USD (currently 1,2320), 160 pips higher than Friday opening. The pair was well supported around 1,2140-50 before some surprisingly weak US NFP sent the pair higher (1,2310). Overnight the pair consolidated in a tight range (1,2310-35) ahead of a US holiday. Liquidity is likely to remain thin. Apparently the market was caught long USD anticipating another 25 bp rate hike and the latest bad employment data postponed such a scenario. Today we favour some retracement lower as we believe 1,2350 should offer enough resistance chartwise (option protection as well) with no important data later today. Supports at 1,2280 and 1,2220. The big picture hasn't changed, we still believe the market will hover inside 1,1750-1,2350 for some time.

US holiday today

Gold at 398,50, with WTI August at 38,35.

***JPY***
USD/JPY (108,65). The pair dropped from 109,20 to 108 base on bad US data last friday before rebounding and closing the week around 108,65. Overnight, the pair opened lower to 108,25 but another bad NIKKEY performance helped regain current levels. For today we see supports at 108,10 and resistance ahead of 109, we do not expect much to happen short term.
EUR/JPY currently 133,75, as we expected on Friday, 133,50 resistance cracked and opened way to 134,20 high. Next resistance stands around 134,50 while 133,50 has now become a supportive zone.

***GBP***
Cable (currently 1,8320), following EUR/USD price action closely. The interesting fact is that 1,83 level was regained as discussed last week, so last week turmoil and pressure on GBP looks to have faded away. 1,80-1,85 has been containing the market since the end of May, and we still believe playing the range remains a valid strategy. Support for the day at 1,8270 with resistance at 1,8400.
EUR/GBP (0,6715). The cross jumped from 0,6675 to 0,6730 before slowly retracing to current levels. We remain neutral for the time being.
Have a nice day,

Olivier

If the market downward trending momentum is strong enough to penetrate through this barrier, the next targeting point is 86.27. A projected resistant level is expected at 89.66 - 89.88. In the mean time I would assume a range trading of 88 - 90.

First of all thank you for your contribution, but..

Sorry, but couldnt view your chart, I think you need to change the settings in your yahoo photo from private to I think public viewing, where everyone can look at the folder/photo.

Forex Forum

The Global-View Forex Forum is the hub for currency trading on the web. Founded in 1996, it was the original forex forum and is still the place where forex traders around the globe come 24/7 looking for currency trading ideas, breaking forex news, fx trading rumors, fx flows and more. This is where you can find a full suite of forex trading tools, including a complete fx database, forex chart points, live currency rates, and live fx charts. In addition, there is a forex brokers directory where you can compare forex brokers. There is also a forex brokers hotline where you can ask for help choosing a forex broker that meets your individual fx trading needs. Interact on the same venue to discuss forex trading.

Forex News

The forex forum is where traders come to discuss the forex market. It is one of the few places where forex traders of all levels of experience, from novice to professionals, interact on the same venue to discuss forex trading. There is also the GVI Forex, which is a private subscription service where professional and experienced currency traders meet in a private forex forum. it is like a virtual forex trading room. This is open to forex traders of all levels of experience to view but only experienced currency tradingprofessionals can post.

Currency Trading

Currency trading charts are updated daily using the forex trading ranges posted in the Global-View forex database. You will also find technical indicators on the fx trading charts, e.g. moving averages for currencies such as the EURUSD. This is another forex trading tool provided by Global-View.com.

Forex Brokers

The forex database can be used to access high, low, close daily forex ranges for key currency pairs, such as the EURUSD, USDJPY, USDCHF, GBPUSD, USDCAD, AUD, NZD and major crosses, including EURJPY, EURGBP, EURCHF, GBPJPY, GBPCHF and CHFJPY. Data for these currency trading pairs dating back to January 1, 1999 can be downloaded to an Excel spreadsheet.

Forex Trading

Forex chart points are in a currency trading table that includes; latest fx tradinghigh-low-close range, Bollinger Bands, Fibonacci retracement levels, daily forex pivot points support and resistance levels, average daily forex range, MACD for the different currency trading pairs. You can look on the forex forum for updates when one of the fx trading tools is updated.

FX Trading

Global-View also offers a full fx trading chart gallery that includes fx pairs, such as the EURUSD, commodities, stocks and bonds. In a fx trading world where markets are integrated, the chart gallery is a valuable trading tool. Look for updates on the Forex Forum when the chart gallery is updated.

Forex Blog

Global-View.com also offers a forex blog, where articles of interest for currency trading are posted throughout the day. The forex blog articles come from outside sources, including forex brokers research as well as from the professionals at Global-View.com. This forex blog includes the Daily Forex View, Market Chatter and technical forex blog updates. In additional to its real time forex forum, there are also Member Forums available for more in depth forex trading discussions.
