EURO/USD - Recovery Precedes Next Sustained Decline
by Max McKegg
August 30th Having sold-off sharply, Euro probably now finds support about 1.1980/1.1950, to yield a corrective recovery back toward the 1.2200 level over coming days. This would then lay the foundations for the Euro's next sustained sell-off to retest (and break) this year's 1.1765 April low

AUST PRIVATE CREDIT PREVIEW] is set for release at 1.30GMT. Private sector credit is expected to maintain its monthly growth rate of 1% sa in July, but with a 1.5% rise in July 2003 likely to see its annual growth rate ease back from June's cyclical high of +15.5%. With the recent downtrend in total housing finanne continuing, expect housing credit to follow suite, easing back from June's 1.3% gain, but still be way too strong for RBA's liking. Personal credit is otherwise still seen running strong (June 1.5%) amid the tight labour conditions

U know for some reason I don't care about somebodies opinion here
I do my job my way, which is the only right way,

Say, I bought Gbp/Usd @ 7994 first lot. after that I added 12 more lots @ 7999, 7921, 7931, 7961. The most heavy load was made @ 7921 cuz I was sure it will go through 7950.
Had a couple of bad minutes when the nidle of hesitation hits your heart, but its OK now.
And finally...... now I need it go very slow like 10-15 pips an hour and giving back up to 60& of gain.
Please understabd : if it moves 30 pips up I want iit go down to 18 pips to load more longs. I hate ubrupt movements for 100-250 pips when data is released. but for tomorrow's data I think I'm well prepeared. Will also place "crazy trades" 30--50 pips away of the ongoing levels right before data is released.
Sorry for taking too much space. But if u need more info of how to play FOREX nd have pleasure, give me a buzz through Jay. Thanx

Food for thought: There are many weeks where the Sunday night/Monday morning asia sessions put in the WEEKLY high or low. I myself am done for the day - but keeping this in mind for asia trading tonight. So while charts are showing uptrend for $$ against the european ccy there is a reasonable chance that we see some $$ selling this week ahead of Fridays data.
Will wait to see at what levels we finish the day at - but counter-trend short $$ plays for next 48-72hrs may be the way to go.

...and sometimes a server appears to be down when it's not or not their fault at all...could be a backbone problem (outage by a backhoe/landslide/earthquake that cut a cable miles from the server) or the net splits. And sometimes the server's actual path is severed to some users and not others. High tech is vulnerable as GV said, Murphy takes over. Communication however with patrons aids the gap.

For those who were in a broker panic earlier, all it takes is a PHONE CALL. You should have the dealing desk phone # memorized or in your speed dial. Make sure you are familiar with the proper phone order jargon and keep it short and sweet, as there are 20,000 other guys trying to phone in orders too.

In about 3 yrs dealing with those guys, they have NEVER not answered the PHONE and taken care of my business in a timely manner. Now I have been as pissed off as the next guy about server issues, but I learned how to DIAL the PHONE.

I don't know what a few here were expecting, a personal call from the president to all 20,000 clients worldwide explaining they had a server problem I guess.

My gbp-jpy trade stopped out for a loss earlier, the $Cad and $Yen are okay for now

GEP. From experience, sometimes even our tech staff is not sure what happens when we have a rare server issue and they have to take their time tracking down the source of the problem. If it was easy to remedy, then the servers would be back online in short order and sometimes that happens. Other times, it is a longer process. As I said, this is life in the high tech world we live in.

Good to hear from you I hope you are well. Using a stop loss is part of money management that helps the trader survive in the long run but apparently it was misunderstood in my feeble attempt to explain it. GL GT

Dallas GEP 13:25 GMT August 30, 2004 Reply
OMIL, great point. Although you can probably still call in orders I don not think that would be a good idea if you were planning on also calling in the close on the possie. I am sure they are being deluged with calls. Their uptime record is VERY good so this the type of thing that is VERY rare for them and it can also happen to even the best prepared systems if the source of the problem was beyong their control. The MOST frustrating thing on the system side it to not really know what the problem is so you are going thru a process of elimination process to find problem while being HAMMERED by people asking WHAT is wrong and WHEN will it be fixed??? I am quite sure they will have it resolved today.

OMIL// I for one second your statement. Murphy's law exists; traders who might not understand how important stop loss protection is, and if one puts limits and stops the autopilot is on when everything else fails. Best example of why this tactic saves and makes money is what happened in this hour. It is much easier to LOSE money trading than making it. Loss protection of all types (and automatic limit) therefore are probably more important than easy wins!

Sorry if my comments do not make sense sometimes. I meant to say I thought this was a good time show why stop loss is important.

My comments were not intended to add fuel to the fire as I see my earlier comment was erased. I thought it was a good opportunity to show how sometimes the trader will not be in control of what happens with the account used because of things that might happen in life. That is why the stop loss is important for most traders. My apology to Global-View if this was taken the wrong way. Just thought it was a good example to show this example IMHO.

As someone who relies on its servers to be in business, sometimes there are problems that are unexpected and unavoidable. Such is life in the high tech world we live in. In this case, just calm down. These type of interruptions are beyond one's control and I am sure they are working on getting it restored asap. We can tell you from experience how frustrating it is to be on the other end waiting for service to be restored. In this firm's case, it is a rare case so just be patient. Not really. That is only necessary if yor dealer opens a separate bank account in your name in a foreign bank. But to my knowledge, they don't, they use common accounts for all/part of the users, so as you don't have a personal foreign bank account on your name, you don't need the bnr authorization. However it is not very clear under which income category should you declare such income, and how much you will be charged. Anyone can help/tried any solution on his/her skin?

All is not perfect in the world of cycles! Any cycle has to be viewed at each moment in time in relation to all the other cycles and their status.

It's kind of like dropping a bunch of pebbles in a poll and watching the cirles that move out from the impacts - they will interfere with one another sometimes increasing one anothers strength, sometimes decreasing it.

One of the best books on this is by a guy called JM Hurst.

chart patterns are very subjective in my view.
as far as I have read the classics and found from my past experience. double and triple bottoms/tops are reversal patterns. they got to be in the end of the trend. at the moment I can see only range trading in the middle of the trend.
as weekly crossed lower and we moved under middle bollinger band I still bet on move to test under the range lows...

London 08:49 GMT August 30, 2004 Reply
the 1.1970 triple bottom was not touched last wednesday. IMO it's tough to butt head with a solid triple bottom support, even if you're a die hard bear

Tallinn viies 08:44 GMT August 30, 2004 Reply
daily stochastic crossed up on wednesday.
only reaction on that was spike up to take out my stoploss at 1,2124 and bears took control over again. now situation is different. with lower bollinger moved quickly away from the day lows. close under open level today could put stochastic to cross lower. dont you think so?
whatever, Im bear as long as friday high is not taken out.

Last week’s thin trading activity saw speculators lighten their dollar shorts against the euro, sterling, Aussie, while dollar longs jumped against the swissy, eased against the yen. CAD net longs were the only exception thanks to strong Canadian inflation data ensuring a rate hike next week. EUR net longs slipped 4% to 24,616 contracts, JPY net shorts fell 82% to 969 contracts attaining the 5th consecutive of net shorts. Sterling longs fell 62% to 7,259 contracts, while Swiss net shorts tripled to 6,536 contracts. Aussie net longs fell 11% to 7,279 contracts. Net longs in CAD contracts rose to 9% 33,743 contracts, hitting their highest level in over months.
