Earlier, I stated that I didn't know anithing about astrology, but then again 100 years ago or so, people didn't know anything about flight, the electric light, radio, t.v.,s, computers, moon landings, or even tomatoes, or anything else about yesturday. Todays thinking is yesturdays dreams and I think we should be careful of denying people of their thoughts on what they believe in. Who knows who is right and who is wrong until it is scientifically proven to be wrong. Is astrology really the key to success in the market? Who really knows? We must play the way we feel is right and let the others play the way they feel is right without critizing the way each other feels. Don't forget, the right will prosper and the wrong will pay. Let's just respect each others beliefs.

Financial markets are like water, and the course can be altered by a rock that slips into the current, no matter where the stars may be. Because of this, it makes sense to work with the water and not the stars.

The RBA is facing an unusual problem if the government projections of a surplus over the next two fiscal years are even close to reality - a tight monetary policy coupled with a fiscal policy in surplus is a recipe for economic contraction - but maybe Latham's tax cut will sail through

San Francisco TG,

In good old days, especially in India, when they didn't have modern clocks or radars for direction, it is my understanding that people would Astrology (planetary positions) for traveling by the sea or land, to plant crops, to go fishing based on tides etc.

Applying Astrology is still in the realm of art and people are trying to bring it into the realm of science. Regarding your question on intereste rates, I am sure there are people who know about it, I personally don't know and as I metnioned before I have not begun to use it , still learning.

I have relatives who laugh to hear me say that technical analysis works for trading markets. It is just because they don't meet very many people in their daily lives who do this. So, it comes down to what one's beliefs are and how far one is willing to push the envelope IMHO.

There are statistical tests done by Ray Merriman who applies Western Astrology to the stock market. He is not looking for every little swing, he predefines what he considers to be significant in his opinion, say 100-150 points in Dow. It works for him adn I ahve seen test results. I personally don't use it, but am trying to learn vedic astrologywhich is much more ancient than Western Astrology, I am interested in it because it is based on planetary geometry.

my basic thinking : human life by atom (nukleon and electron) and always move in circle. micro cosmos behavior = macrocosmos behavior. so all be influenced by gravitation, and sum of gravitation will be changed by planet position from this world. and then human life behavior be influence by that gravitation especially in their emotion. for example when moo is really full clear, so many dogs do sex activity (high in their libido)..that's easy sample.
totally agree.

EUR/USD : It seems to me that the following is still valid :-

Melbourne Qindex 08:47 GMT August 18, 2004
EUR/USD : My system is still suggesting a trading range of 1.1751 - 1.2382 within Aug - Sep and the mid-point reference is 1.2067. Some of the viewers are very upset to see a range forecast of 600 pips. However my system is very easy to follow since all my projected chart points are interelated and are separated by a constant or its multiple. One can easily fine tune the trading ranges by dividing them with any integer.

Set A : ... // 1.1751* - 1.2067* - 1.2382* // ...

Set B: ... // 1.1751* - 1.1909 - 1.2067* - 1.2225 - 1.2382* // ...

Set C : ... // 1.1751* - 1.1830 - 1.1909 - 1.1988 - 1.2067* - 1.2146 - 1.2225 - 1.2304 - 1.2382* // ...

The forum is a great place to get ideas and help you plan your position but I REPEAT it should not be followed blindly. You take a position and risk your money that is you responsibility, hope that helps. GL GT

Technical Analysis of GBP/CAD by MIZUHO BANK for ref:
Comment: Major resistance around 2.5000 has forced sterling through important support at 2.3600, and we have had to rip up our plans. In an ideal world the pound would now hold below 2.3600, dropping to 2.2500/2.2000 where it would base slowly. In the complicated reality that is the technical analysis of this currency pair, things are likely to be a lot more messy. Over the next ten days or so expect a short-squeeze to 2.3600 and probably 2.3800. Then down again to 2.2200 where a drawn out basing process should occur. The ultra-long term trend of Sterling Strength against the Canadian dollar is still considered intact, so next year we would expect a re-test of 2.5000.

Strategy: Attempt small longs t 2.3200, adding to 2.2900; stop/reverse below 2.2700 for 2.2200. Add to longs on a daily close above 2.3200 for 2.3600 to cover and selling on signs of topping between here and 2.3900; stop well above 2.4000. The a steady drop to 2.2200.

Apparently it is basing near the current price.

Here is my setups
1. Buy break of Close R1, Sell break of Close S1, if hit after NY open. No positions are taken until after major data release

Possible filters: go only in direction of previous day's filled signal direction or use some other technical indicator/trend as a filter.
System runs with stops at opposite (Close R1 on Shorts or Close S1 on Longs) and all trades are exited at 0:00 GMT. Personally, I try and exit by/before NY close.

blelgrad,

In a nutshell, I use break higher of close r1 to buy and lower of close s1 to sell. But it is not a "blackbox" system and I will trade in accordance of where I think we are in the ST trend.

for example: i might not take a long eur/usd position at 1.2299 since it is closing in on the range ceiling. I take all signals immediately after a major data announcement as these have been the most reliable. I also implement ST trend directions to fade short at close R1 and long at close S1. BTW, I only trade signals that happen in early NY now since they are more "reliable".

USD drifted in a tight range after weaker than expected US economic data did little to alter investors’ expectations that the Feds would continue to raise interest rates at a measured pace. Market expect the Fed to raise rates by 25 bps as its Sept 21 policy meeting but weak economic data could dampen hopes for at least one additional rate hike at the Fed’s November or December meetings.

USD fetched around 109.62 yen unchanged from late NY levels after a dip of 0.5% on Tuesday. USD has spent the last month floating between 109 and 110 levels. EUR was around $1.2243 and off the three week high above $1.23 hit late last week.

Indonesia may delay BNI, Permata sale if mkt unfavourable after blast - report
The government may delay the sale of PT Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) and PT Bank Permata if market conditions turn unfavourable following yesterday's bomb blast at the Australian embassy, the Kompas daily reported, citing State Minister of State Enterprises Laksamana Sukardi.

"We will see again the market situation, the timing, the market's appetite and investors' interest... after the incident," Kompas quoted Sukardi as saying.

He said the blast may have only a temporary adverse impact on the market.

The bomb explosion has killed at least nine people and injured 168.

Immediately after the blast the Jakarta Stock Exchange's composite index lost 4.18 pct before recouping some losses later to close down 0.82 pct at 782.650.

The government plans to sell a 30 pct stake in BNI and a 51 pct stake in Bank Permata to help cover the state budget deficit this year.

Sukardi earlier said he expect Permata to fetch a price of at least 2 times its book value, which is above the average price under previous bank sales.

Preliminary bids for Bank Permata ranged between 1.8 and 2.39 times its book value.

State asset management firm PT Perusahaan Pengelola Aset (PPA), which is in charge of Bank Permata's sale, hopes the sale will cover the 2.8 trln rupiah shortfall under this year's bank restructuring asset sales target of 13 trln.

Government officials have also said BNI's sale should be enough to cover the remaining 1.6 trln rupiah under this year's privatization target of 5 trln.

Uridashi redemptions in the pipeline for aud are currently non-existent as a lot of jap money has been going to NZ DUE TO THEIR HIGHER INTEREST..in september expect some capital flows from NZD back to japan as part of their september repatriation thus weakening the kiwi.....uridashi should not be a factor in any further short term uoside for the aussie...if there is any short term upside at all...aud has re-discovered downward bias at least until after the election on the 9th of october....g/t
