Happy New Year to All

German jobless face rude awakening in '05
When 2005 begins, 4.5 million unemployed Germans, which is 10.8 percent of the work force, will be wrenched into a new world of dwindling benefits.
"This is the end of the Germany that I grew up with," said Martin Bongards, an unemployed sociologist and activist in the town of Marburg. "This country I knew no longer exists"

Currency Quest - EU/US Smacks of False Breakout Higher Euro has adjacently made some quite sharp moves against other main competitors, most of which have the scent of anomaly to them. In all then, the extension to new ground currently would not be trusted as it has now exceeded a Fibonacci (1.618) base measurement to 1.355 and ostensibly has few technical underpinnings to lean on. No doubt, if the Swiss thumped down through 1.13, the Yen through 102 and the Pound through 1.95, then a much more concerted siege of the greenback would be underway again and one would have little justification for questioning the Euro in those circumstances. Meantime, a two-stage short selling process has instated a full Euro short versus the Dollar, believing the current action has a good chance of becoming a false breakout and could duly culminate quite soon in a substantial correction to 1.29 and quite possibly even a full Fibonacci retracement to 1.25.
