Kevin, I like the gbp short order. I believe currently that GBP is a sell on rallies when near this level. Order is in to sell at 9780. Target 1.9685, stop 1.9880. Out for now.
IMHO given today's moves post UM sentiment figure the downside on GBP/USD looks very limited. USD gave up all the gains it made on this figure and despite bullish data all week and hawkish comments from Fed governors cable still finishes the week 150 points higher than where it began.
There's not much the way in data to support dollar, but GBP has MPC minutes and UK GDP. Anything about 0.7% for the quarter on GDP and sterling will amke that push for USD 2.00.
I think the risk/return next week like this one lies with being long.
GBP/USD to open firmer Monday morning.
