jp//No i havent changed my view yet. I re-entered again at 1.9835 stop and potential reverse under that major low 1.9750. That would extend the pain for cable. EURGBP long is offsetting and may have already completed a wave 4. That means we should see as significant bounce soon in EURUSD otherwise the whole corrective sequence may range again.
I think USDJPY is just going to get sold through the nose this month but since i think this is going to be a general dollar-slide continuation phase its tough to say on the crosses. Most comfortable shorting the pair especially under 219.30 it will probably accelerate to low 200 s. glgt

FWIW -
Dec. 31 (Bloomberg) -- Sales of existing homes in the U.S. unexpectedly rose in November to a level that still suggests the housing slump will be a drag on economic growth.
Purchases rose 0.4 percent to an annual rate of 5 million from a 4.98 million pace in October, the National Association of Realtors said in Washington. Sales were down 20 percent from November 2006 and the median home price fell 3.3 percent.

GBPUSD: I believe we can say we have seen the bottom for a while. The creeping up of cable has been interesting as it has been largely spurred by the cross so its telling us something about the flows (at least during this light trade day). I was lucky enough to leave a long out (two one got stopped) at 1.9789 so merry x-mas. Unfortunately the EURGBP move that i have been waiting for left without me. I hope caba caught it.
EURGBP correction should stay above .7240 with a risk to .7178 t/l support. It may track sideways if the Eur can mount 1.4750 but I suspect it still has more downside to come (1.46 area) before it takes out 1.50. Cable could have started its way back to 2.03 area.
Oh yes and selling USDJPY on any rallies iseems like a nice bet.

* WSJ: If China's FX policy is a speedometer for the government's move toward market economics, that thinking appears to be picking up speed. Thanks to a surge in recent weeks, the yuan is set to end 2007 up nearly 7% against USD -- twice the amount it appreciated against USD in 2006 -- and economists forecast a similar pace of upward movement in 2008.
* Bilawal, 19-year old son of assassinated former PM Benazir Bhutto, has been appointed Chairman of her PPP party. Her husband Asif Ali Zardari has been named co-chairman. The party will take part in the January 8 elections. Karachi stock markets down -4.62% in early trading, reopening after Bhutto's murder.
* UK Observer on Sunday: Merrill Lynch's new Chief Executive John Thain is this weekend in talks with Chinese and Middle Eastern sovereign wealth funds that could lead to the sale of another big stake in the US bank in a desperate bid to raise capital. The discussions come just days after Thain was forced on Christmas Eve to sell $4.4bn of stock to Singapore investment firm Temasek as part of a wider plan to raise some $7.5bn.
* UK Telegraph: Cyprus and Malta will tomorrow embrace the euro, adding another two Club Med votes to the policy board of the ECB. The two islands - one near the coast of Africa and the other kissing the Levant - make up just 0.3% of eurozone GDP and barely flicker on the radar screen of the 320m-strong currency bloc. Yet their arrival marks a crucial stage in the declining dominance of the German Bundesbank.
* Times: Prof Robert Shiller, co-founder of S&P Case/ Shiller House price index says losses arising from America's housing recession could triple over the next few years and they represent the greatest threat to growth in the US, saying there was a very real possibility that the US would be plunged into a Japan-style slump, with house prices declining for years.
* ECB Axel Weber, in Bild am Sonntag, says ECB will act decisively against second round inflation effects from higher wage demands - Reuters.
* Very thin New Year Eve trading, as market players countdown to the new Year 2008, with Japan away, together with China, Thailand and Philippines, and many centers in Europe away as well. Most centers will be closed earlier for New Year holidays.
* Greenback remains under pressure, on continued concerns over US economy into further slowdown, or even recession. USD/JPY rose initially in very thin markets, before breaking 112 handle to 2-week lows of 111.76, and now back up at 112 again.
EUR/JPY, GBP/JPY, NZD/JPY, AUD/JPY all dipped lower on Cross/JPY sales, before moving back up, as EUR hit fresh 3-week highs 1.4747, AUD broke key 0.8800 to fresh 2-wk highs 0.8820 on strong private credit.
NZD hit 2-week highs 0.7771, EUR/GBP near all time highs, Cable blw 2.00.
Nikkei and JGB markets are closed for New Year holidays till Thursday, and will resume on Friday, 4 January.
Crude remains firm, at $96.29, just $3 from its all time highs of $99.29.
Gold reaching toward its all time highs of $850, now Glittering at $843.00/ 844.00.

Well I don't believe in HK RF's anti USA unbalanced propaganda and constant BS Zeus "Nationalist BS" attacks..
------------------------------------------------------------
My dear forum-fellow Zeus: Talking the USD down does not mean I am anti-american, it is a matter of Tech. view. I will be the first, if I could switching to USD when it will look right to do so.
If you think I am anti ameican(which I am not) just because I talk down the USD, it only confirms your bias, because of you being too nationalist. My point is simple, being pro or anti american should not play any role in trade judgement.
K.I.S... EURO has demonstrated a capacity to move to 1.5125 and maybe even above.
Only when the world(especially the third world) will be Euro loaded to the teeth, that is the time euro will plunge as it is overvalued even in the present levels.

USD/JPY knocked below 112 in thin market as U.S. investment houses, Japan brokerages dump stale long positions, says senior dealer at Japan bank in Singapore; players also selling JPY-crosses: EUR/JPY, AUD/JPY, NZD/JPY. Notes players were caught long USD/JPY as they had expected USD to rally into New Year, but now adjusting positions on renewed worries of U.S. recession following weak U.S. housing data Friday, while JPY-crosses hit by spike in risk aversion as geopolitical worries rise following assassination of ex-Pakistan PM Benazir Bhutto. Break of USD/JPY support at 111.50 would clear way for drop to 110.50.

Bleak prospects for UK job market
The outlook for the UK job market is at its worst for a decade, according to a report from an employment organisation.
The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development forecasts a net rise in employment of 75,000 in 2008, a third of the rise forecast in 2006 and 2007.
The institute estimates unemployment will rise by around 150,000 to 1.8 million, or 5.8% of the workforce
