Sydney ACC 22:54 Hi, sorry for the delay , I think so looks like hikes are still on the cards - got to look beyond the G7 really which is going to dominate markets first

Hope the traders tackle any divergence with the same passion ‘dah Bears’ tackle Payton’s offensive line. Hope that most fans tackle the pretzels and booze to make Monday a post-playoff celebration!

FM, I was having a dig at your crack remark about Amman's prediction. Just about everyone has joined the "lets bash Amman" bandwaggon. Personally I see his trading ability as in the top quartile of the people here.
Bexhill pj 13:23 GMT March 10, 2006
Seems everybody is into Amman bashing again. Those that do if you think his advice is Wacky then simply ignore it. Clearly you're all disecting his stuff because it's making money but can't see why as it does not confirm to the 95% who use the same methology in trading.

Is this data the reason for the Kiwi's resurgence this morning? Commonwealth doesn't know.

With G7 meeting next weekend it is possible we will see some liquidation of carry trades especially against GBP, AUD, NZD and EUR. We saw significant downward movement in the Kiwi last week stemming from liquidations. Nonetheless we also have an MPC meeting which could bring forward the next hile in UK interest rates. Last month's increase was thought to occur this week, the market now thinks the next one will be in May. If the "fearless five" committee hawks sharpen their talons further they may decide, though I think it unlikely, to bring the next increase forward. If so you can forget about liquidations.

is there anyway for gbp to go up vs usd? if carry trades are unwound like we saw early last week and the week before the gbpjpy put pressure on both gbpusd and $y. on the other hand straight up vs usd it has no reason (does it?) to go up.

I'd heard that as well, though (may be wrong) almost the entire market for them over the w/e is just internal. It would be interesting to study their w/e results against the opening of wider markets...

London SB 14:41 ... wrong. O is open over the weekend and prices are not bogus. You can trade there 7 days a week Although with a higher spread ... f.e. 10 for eurusd instead of 1.5-2 and of course there is usually no or almost no trading. But f.e. two weeks earlier yen already moved considerable time before open.

Phil. Forex markets are closed and prices over weekends are meanigless as they cannot be traded. It is probably some bogus quote from an electronic feed.
