Aussie Leading Econ Index Points To Recession
Reply
Evidence of recession in Australia continues to mount as Westpac's monthly leading index of economic activity shows a contraction of 2.2% in November, well short of its long-term trend rate of 3.5% growth. The October index was also revised down sharply. Westpac's chief economist says the weakness of the data has, in the past, has been a useful indicator of recession. Increases probability RBA will cut rates at first policy meeting of the year on Tuesday.

Taking profit may be safer within range> [1.34,1.35], 1.36 (if seen) will be another wave.

I feel one has to beware for Euro sudden pullback to 1.24, which may be fast.

hi FM, I hope you are fine and doing well. I must admit, some of the trades you post are "pyromaniac trades", and I like that! :)

why don't you afford another 30 cent with the CITI stop?
I am very interested about how you set stop levels with stocks.

about the oil, good luck tough the stop looks too close and tempting for the men in black to pay a visit there, but maybe not :)

good luck and tia for your answer about stocks and stops.

NZD/USD Confronts Risks Of Downside Break - ANZ
Reply
NZD/USD faces serious downside risks from dairy giant Fonterra's payout forecast, due later today, and tomorrow's RBNZ rate decision, says ANZ bank; adds pair has been unable to make sustained break above 0.5300, while buyers have supported on dips toward 0.5200. "This scenario is unlikely to last too much longer. Fonterra today and RBNZ tomorrow pose serious risks of a downside break of current range."

why / what about it is "scary" tn ? the clueless bozones are doing exactly that what got got us into this morrass. why should it solve it ? more moRE MORE so much more in fact so as to eventually overwhelm the market from its intentions ? rofl.

there are ginormous scads of profit opportunities waiting just for you tn ! why be scared of profits ? just take up your position with a rapier and wait for the perfectly opportune time to make your thrust. right through the eyeball (or heart) of the printing bozone.

A weaker economy, more industry bailouts and a huge stimulus spend are likely to push the Federal budget into a $40 billion deficit next financial year, the National Australia Bank says.A 2009-10 budget blow-out, spelling a dramatic reversal of Australia's run of surpluses, would arise due to a weaker economy and the need for more economic rescue packages, NAB economist Jeff Oughton said today."We have allowed for a substantial increase in government spending - of the order of over $15 billion per annum,'' Mr Oughton said.
"[It] allows for cyclical deterioration from a weaker economy as well as a big increase in economic rescue packages.''GDP to shrink Meanwhile, NAB lowered its gross domestic product growth forecast for 2009 to minus-0.25% from a previously expected 0.5% gain. It dropped its forecast for 2010 to a 1% increase from an earlier prediction of 1.75%. The Age

INTERVIEW: OECD's Gurria: ECB Has Room To Cut Interest Rates
Reply
The European Central Bank has room to cut interest rates further because inflation is less of a concern, Angel Gurria, secretary General of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, said Monday. "Inflation is going to be very low, so there is still some room," Gurria said in an interview with Dow Jones Newswires.

Risk AUD Becomes Proxy For China Slump - CBA "The biggest event-risk facing the AUD in 2009 is the possibility that the AUD could be sold as a proxy for a slowing Chinese economy and an Asian regional economic slowdown," says CBA FX Strategist Richard Grace. In particular, notes foreign exchange liquidity ratios in Asian currencies have not changed enough since Asia crisis to avoid using more liquid AUD as an Asia proxy. Usual suspects also weighing; growth downgrades, interest rate cuts and falling commodity prices. Says AUD/USD fall below 0.5800 cannot be ruled out. "But a depreciation in the AUD below its April 2001 historical low of 0.4775 is unlikely due to the fact that the US trade weighted index is some 28% below its April 2001 levels. This fact alone is the only reason why AUD/USD is not currently testing fresh record lows." Pair last at 0.6626.

It is hard to say when New Zealand's economy will come out of a recession, but the government wants to prevent the economy from slipping into a deeper downturn, Finance Minister Bill English said Tuesday. English said the economy, which slipped into a recession last year, is getting some help from falling interest rates, and the sharp drop in the value of the New Zealand dollar appears to be following an orderly adjustment process.
