Sydney GE 21:51 GMT Hi, the number at the inspections you could count on one hand now , whereas two or three months ago they were waiting outside for the places to open and over 100+ at each property - I actually went to a few over a couple of weekends earlier in the year with them, realized at that stage the first time buyers had gotten into a buying frenzy , now its fallen off the cliff and the press is giving out the normal bullshite . nobody in their right minds will pay $100.000 over the top to gain the grant , unless they need it for a deposit -which most of them do or did.

The EUR/USD rebounded significantly following this morning's better than expected data, with the ISM coming in at 55.7. Construction Spending also showed considerable gains. However the ISM number showed no sign of Employment Growth, and the Construction Spending number was boosted by strong Governmental Spending on a Federal, State and Local level

AUD/USD Looking To RBA Rate Hike For Next Lead -- Westpac.

AUD/USD Looking To RBA Rate Hike For Next Lead -- Westpac.

AUD/USD looks to be encountering stiff resistance on any rallies. Trend set to persist, with focus remaining on downside support levels, says Jonathan Cavenagh, FX strategist at Westpac. Focus on RBA board meeting outcome at 0330 GMT. Westpac expects 50 bps rate hike, but broader market priced for a more cautious 25 bps. Cavenagh says statement by RBA will be key; any hint of ongoing hawkishness will strengthen support for AUD/USD. Pair now 0.9038. Support at 0.8980, 0.8940 and then 0.8900

I tend to estimate that Euro/USD will strike at 1.4860 first, a level many will be tempted to short, for reversal, or few pips.

But if 1.4860 will be breached so will 1.4920 too!

London GB 16:27 GMT November 2, 2009
EUR/USD some thoughts

1.4795 was the intraday breakout level after the pmi and expect support for this pair as long as it trades above it. Current range is 1.4810-45. I have no idea how long it will last as dependent on US equities. I bet if you polled traders earlier they would have said better chance range of 1.4710-45 than 1.4810-45.

Mkt. likes challenges!

Next move of Eur/USD likely to challenge the 200 Hr-sma which almost coincides with the 50% Ret.(1.4880) of the previous downmove from 1.5062.

A breach of this down-slanting 200 hr-ma is not too impressive, unless the 61.8% Ret(~1.4920) of the said downmove will be breached too.

The upmove may be extended up to 1.4980, but as the EUR will be overbought at that level, it will be a big Q. if it can gain more.

Holding the price of Euro above 1.4800 for few hours is already opening the way to 1.5155 target I mentioned in my chart posted early today, but as Eur will become overbought even at lower levels and because of the shadow of the weekly reversal, no one will believe 1.5155 can be reached within the present upmove.

Purchasing Managers Index – Manufacturing and Service
Most major economies have purchasing managers indices (PMI) released monthly. They are compiled by various organizations. Some focus on the manufacturing sector while others measure the service sector. They are a very current measure of the economic health of the manufacturing or services sector. The PMI indies are usually based on five major indicators: new orders, inventory levels, production, supplier deliveries and the employment environment.

A PMI of greater than 50 represents expansion, compared to the previous month. A reading under 50 represents a contraction, while a reading at 50 indicates no change.

We find the PMI indices to be useful predictors of future economic activity.

Construction Spending
The Construction Spending data is a monthly report that report on the amount of construction spending for home building, which is the major component of the report. In addition to residential spending, the data also tracks spending on government projects and office buildings.

Pending Homes Sales
The Pending Homes sales index is produced by monthly by the NAR. Pending Home Sales become Existing-Home Sales one-to-two months later.

The index derived from Pending Home Sales is used to predict actual home sales activity.

Global Equity Markets were net losers last week. In the U.S the DJIA slid nearly 250 points on Friday. Financials were hit the hardest, lead by concerns over CITI's balance sheet and CIT's inability to repay debt and probable bankruptcy filing. An additional behind the scenes market mover was Friday's fiscal year end for many Mutual Funds.

The Dollar finished the week gaining on 8 of the G-10 currencies with Kiwi the big loser, down 3.96% for the week. Gold finished the week up less than 1% while silver dropped by 4.56%. Oil closed the week at $77 a barrel, roughly $4 off its high.

There are a number of important economic data releases due out this week. 4 major Central Bank will meet this week; the FED, RBA, BOE, and ECB. Only the RBA is expected to raise rates. All eyes will be watching the accompanying statements of Central Bankers. For Monday, ISM Manufacturing numbers in the U.S are set to print. The market is anticipating a slightly higher read for October at 53 versus 52.6 in September.

GBP/USD:

The Pound has been range bound for some time. It is trading between 1.6650 and 1.61. Price action above or below those levels has lead to a number of false breakouts. Interestingly enough, if you draw a Fibonacci Retracement from the Pound's high at 2.1160 in 2007 to the Pound's low just below 1.35 in 2009, you will notice that the 38.2% Fibonacci level is at 1.6422.

That level is significant because over the last 6 months we have had more candles extend through this level than above or below it. On the Chart is the 50 day MA in yellow which also had been hovering along the same Fibo line. In October the 50 day MA dipped below the 38.2% Fibo level but price has since recovered in the last week.

Typically price will either trend and break through various Fibonacci levels, or it will range in between 2 Fibonacci levels as it searches for direction. When price hugs a level for a considerable time you expect to see a breakout. We expect to see a shift in this pattern that will cause price to break free of the 38.2% Fibonacci level at 1.6422.

EUR/USD:

The EUR has been holding support at a level equal to its 50 day MA since April 30th. The EUR is now in range to test that level of support. Here is what we are looking for as confirmation of a real move lower.

We want to see at least a whole candle including its wicks fall between the 50 day and 100 day MA. Additionally, the last lower low we had was at the 1.45 handle. If we break that level we would increase the short position.

If the short entry presents itself we would take PNL at the 1.4225 handle and reevaluate the markets and our positions at that time.

Ford - Booming Business - Analysts wrong again

(Updates with additional detail)

By Jeff Bennett
Of DOW JONES NEWSWIRES
DETROIT (Dow Jones)--Ford Motor Co. (F) reported a third-quarter profit Monday and said it would be "solidly profitable" in 2011 on cost cutting and a turnaround in its North American business.

The North American unit recorded its first operating profit in more than four years, helped by higher pricing and market share, though Ford warned that the end of government incentives in Europe market could severely dent industry sales next year.

The company reported a third-quarter profit of $997 million, or 29 cents a share, beating market expectations. This compared with a year-ago loss of $161 million, or 7 cents a share. The company's key North America automotive unit also posted a pretax profit of $357 million, and the positive cash flow of $1.3 billion in the third quarter compared with a $7.7 million cash burn in the same period a year ago.

The back-to-back quarterly profit provides the first real evidence that Ford may have turned the financial corner and will meet its goal of turning a full-year profit in 2011.

Although the single currency rose marginally to 1.5064 in the beginning of last week, lack of follow through buying and the retreat from there suggest a temporary top has possibly been formed there and consolidation with mild downside bias would be seen. A daily close below 1.4674-83 minor support would add credence to this view and further fall towards support at 1.4480 but it is necessary to see a clear break of this level to confirm and bring correction of recent upmove to 1.4232 (38.2% Fibonacci retracement of 1.2885 to 1.5064) would follow.[actionforex]

Since March there has been a massive rally in all sorts of risky assets – equities, oil, energy and commodity prices – a narrowing of high-yield and high-grade credit spreads, and an even bigger rally in emerging market asset classes (their stocks, bonds and currencies). At the same time, the dollar has weakened sharply, while government bond yields have gently increased but stayed low and stable.
