good evening,

euro was not able to move higher when cycles and occilators supported that view. with weak NYC close today euro technical picture turned bearish for me.
Slow stochastic crossed lower, euro closed under short and medium term moving average also mid bollinger contained upmove on daily charts. only positive indicator and mildly only is macd whihc crossed up couple of day ago in negative territory.
anyway. shorted euro at 1,2905. and trying to keep my short position as long as previous day high holds.

G´day. Still do not see any direction as it is. Market shows no signs of Dick enterring the market. Look likes some parties are having a ball until uncle Dick arrives with his direction stick. Ranges in the 200 zone for eur-usd, and very comfortable for the Clog. Hats of for UK JB who set the trade of the day in usd-cad. The streched pairs are still usd-jpy and aud-usd. Can be played both ways. Taking every opportunity to long the usd-jpy and short and long the aud-usd.
Have a nice life all!

The WSJ reports that the initiative would have a total cost of $789.5 billion over two years, is on track for final votes late this week on Capitol Hill. In the rapid-fire horse-trading late Tuesday and early Wednesday, the White House agreed to trim a payroll tax holiday, aid to ailing state governments and initiatives to provide health care for laid-off workers. In exchange for giving ground on those issues, Mr. Obama was able to restore at least $12 billion in school-construction funds cut from the Senate bill. House leaders are likely to formally introduce the compromise bill Wednesday night for a final vote Thursday. Sen. Reid (D., Nev.) would then keep the Senate open around the clock to overcome procedural hurdles and press for final passage this weekend... The proposed package includes less direct aid to states than Obama had proposed. Lawmakers are discussing trimming the cost of Senate-approved tax cuts intended to spur auto and home sales, but would preserve a $70 billion measure intended to shield millions of middle income Americans from the alternative minimum tax. Among other things, Obama's "Making Work Pay" tax cut, a payroll tax holiday for workers, would be scaled back, under the framework that was being negotiated. One proposal under discussion would set the value of the benefit at $400 for individual workers, down from $500, and $800 for couples, down from $1,000. The president's proposal to subsidize private insurance for people who have been laid off, through the federal COBRA plan, and to allow states to expand Medicaid for the unemployed, is all but gone, according to people familiar with negotiations. White House efforts to restore other assistance to hard-hit state and local governments had only partial success.

Even old dogs make stupid mistakes at times in the market. The reason I mention this is to remind us all that there are certain "must do's" in trading, and this would fall under the theme of "protect yourself at all times". Using myself for an example.......

Yesterday I took a long in eur/usd, and it quickly ran 55 pips in my favor. Everything appeared in line and in good shape for the trade. But, I had what I thought was a short appointment so I left that particular trade without a stop/loss in place nor had a reached a first target. My appointment lastest longer than I expected, so when I got back I found my winner was now down close to 150 pips. Had I paid attention, the worst case scenario for me would have been breakeven. Didn't work out that way. I followed the trade through the European session which worked my way. Could have gotten much worse and would have to had to eat my hat. I still own the trade, but now will close it and take my loss if it closes on a 1/2 hr. basis below 1.2950...which hasn't happened yet, but obviously close.

I consider myself lucky that it didn't turn into a disaster trade, however, thought it worthwhile to mention to all traders that you have to have rules of behavior, and adhere to them. When you don't, it usually costs you, and in some cases can turn into real account wreckers.

Message is this: no matter how long you've been in the markets trading, you have to always rely on your hard earned lessons and adhere to them. Even old school guys like myself make mistakes, and when I do I like to really review that, own it, and move on with renewed focus. Please, don't forget the basics... or don't grow old anyway!

DJ BOE's King: Further Easing In Policy May Be Required
Reply
A further easing in monetary policy "may well be required," Bank of England Governor Mervyn King said Wednesday.
Presenting the quarterly inflation report, King said, "this is likely to include actions aimed at increasing the supply of money in order to stimulate nominal spending." The BOE cut its benchmark interest rate 50 basis points to a record low of 1.0% in February.
King said the U.K. economy is in a "deep recession." He said weaker sterling, the decline in oil prices and the end of de-stocking by businesses will eventually boost the economy.

German Dep Min: Don't Expect Surprise G7 Forex Stance

Foreign exchange rates will play a role at this weekend's meeting in Rome of the Group of Seven leading industrial nations, but any major change in their position is unlikely, German Deputy Finance Minister Joerg Asmussen said Wednesday. "Yes, foreign exchange rates will be a topic like at every G7 meeting," he said at a briefing on the forthcoming meeting of finance ministers and central bank heads from the G7 Friday and Saturday. "But if I were you, I wouldn't expect any surprise."

There are so many insinuations and attempts in this pseudo-article/blog to play on fears with 'evidence' based on association rather than fact that it can't even get printed in the actual rag and has to remain in the zone of cyber space where eager little fear-peddlers can get all worked up in a tizzy and paste on serious boards that have nothing to do with the subject matter at hand.

Interesting to see the usual Xenophobia play itself out from the rags.
I know Brits love to use passive forms of the verbs such as:

"What they refuse to acknowledge is the real price that is to be paid for this. They don’t understand that the spread of sharia banking in Britain and America is a significant part of the attempt to Islamise Britain and America."

Ahh must be by Islamist Bankers.... They are cunning and
"sinister"

Sharia Banking
Reply
The UK now has five fully ‘sharia-compliant’ banks – providing products which prohibit interest payments and investment in alcohol or gambling firms in accordance with Islamic sharia law – while another 17 leading institutions including Barclays, RBS and Lloyds Banking Group have set up special branches or subsidiary firms for Muslim clients.
The $18billion (£12bn) in assets of Britain’s Islamic banks are said to dwarf those of Muslim states such as Pakistan, Bangladesh, Turkey and Egypt. And there are also 55 colleges and professional institutions offering education in Islamic finance in Britain – more than anywhere else in the world.
This development has been actively pushed by the government. When he was Chancellor of the Exchequer, Gordon Brown declared that he wanted London to become the global centre of Islamic banking.
What they refuse to acknowledge is the real price that is to be paid for this. They don’t understand that the spread of sharia banking in Britain and America is a significant part of the attempt to Islamise Britain and America. Acceptance of sharia finance furthers the Islamist objective of gradually legitimising Islamic sharia law more generally in the west.
The most important point to grasp is that Islam recognises no authority superior to sharia. Sharia banks will therefore not recognise the superior authority of the law of the land. When trillions of pounds and dollars are locked into them, who will argue with them?

As Britain’s government and banks congratulate themselves on the stunning growth of sharia banking in the UK, do any of them have the slightest understanding of what they are doing?

Russia may spend half of one of its oil funds this year, the news agency Prime-Tass reported Wednesday, citing Arkady Dvorkovich, President Dmitry Medvedev's chief economic adviser. The Reserve Fund, designed to cover budget deficits, currently stands at RUB4.7 billion ($131.1 billion) and is one of two oil funds Russia manages. Dvorkovich said that the country's budget deficit might reach 8% of gross domestic product, including losses from banking recapitalizations.
The Kremlin aide also said the central bank has all the necessary tools to ensure the stability of the ruble's exchange rate. www.prime-tass.ru

USD/JPY likely to drop more over next few weeks and throughout rest of calendar year, says Sean Callow, currency strategist with Westpac. Notes that poor global sentiment leaves Japanese investors with few investment choices abroad, and repatriation flows likely to keep government intervention threats - to weaken JPY - on the table, with intervention a real possibility if Japanese economy stays on the ropes. "It will take some time for the global economy to pick up," he adds. Westpac forecasts USD/JPY at 88 by end 1Q, 86 by end 1H, 82 by year-end. Pair last at 90.27

WSJ notes that Central Europe has various currency problems
- Notes that investors are pulling capital out of the region and trade deficits are rising.
- Comments on the declines in the currencies of Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic and Romania.
- WSJ says the concern now is that investors will start indiscriminately selling currencies across the region, which would make it more difficut for governments to support their economies.

Risk Skewed Towards RBA Cutting To 2.0% - RBC
Reply
Pick-up in Australian housing finance will encourage RBA that policy gaining traction, but they've still plenty of work to do, with a risk cash rate falls to 2.0%, says RBC Economist Su-Lin Ong. Expects a 20% decline in terms of trade, says overwhelming tone of outlook remains "extremely negative"; unemployment on the rise too. "While we do not expect rate cuts of the magnitude that we have seen in recent months, we continue to think that the cash rate will, inevitably, move down to 2.5%. In line with the global convergence in rates lower, the risk remains skewed towards 2%."

no view on crude Caba, for now at least.

eurchf long trade has targets at 1.5300 1.5900.s/l normal sized at 1.4810 let us say.timeframe 4 weeks.

we are having quick swings in aversion to no vaersion at all.only 24 hour ago it was aversion and now it is not.as BC put it one side will defect to the other and we will have it crystallized.till then we make use of possibilities.still eurchf view here is long..stops just about reasonable size.

Aussie Govt Stimulus Helping Housing Finance -JPM
Reply
Australian government's increased first home buyers' grants helped housing finance data in December, though "massive wealth destruction" in household sector likely to cap rise in lending activity going forward, says JPMorgan senior economist Helen Kevans; says RBA will likely need to cut cash rate another 50 bps at March meeting to terminal cash rate of 2.75%, to stem deterioration in demand

Mkt Participants Pricing In More RBA Cuts Again
Reply
Market participants have moved to reprice in some of RBA cuts they priced out in past week. Move comes on back of bad recent domestic indicators such as poor job ads business confidence, consumer sentiment, also downward movements in asset prices in offshore session. Currently pricing in RBA cash rate of 2.11% by June, down from 2.44% earlier this week, but still well up from 1.855% expected early last week, before RBA's February noncommittal policy decision statement and quarterly monetary policy statement.
