AUD is a good buy on strong Gold Demand for Mining.....

NZD likes to be bought on weakness of commodities...and and acts like the US market as a lagging indicator to the DJIA and SP500 combinded of a indicator or lagger of a botter spot of US es Equities like the EurJpy

The Carry or the USDJPY is the risk adversion trade...I like to buy this on real weakness or super strenght of mometum of the world markets ...minuse a few like Korea mind you

I like to buy and sell the Euro on Doc...Q TA

I like to USD nzdjpy as a great headed for leveraged trading withe the eurjpy and other triangle plays

Ilike to Buy the exotics like nzdcad because they have large swing, but most have a channel rather then a trend they follow on my PC...see yas

As has been rumoured all day a bid for Usd's is emerging into the EU close (16GMT fix) but unlike talk of demand against Usd/Europe, it is [USD/YEN] that is showing the bid, and there is also a strong bid for Eur/Yen, again said fix related. Both pairs up strongly with Usd/Yen back above 98.00 and confirming that dips are to be sought out at a premium.

The Standard and Poors might fall somewhere around 500 in the upcoming weeks imvho. Too much of defaults around coming, I hear. Sizes near all even the small entrepreneurs are strangled from costs and competition, while the big one do not pay. Banks do not lend etc.

Now figure out a reason to be bullish anything there.

I like to use the 4 hourlies, daily, weekly, monthly. As we know AUD,JPY so influenced by these stock market moves. I just think we have some decent supp for aud crosses etc so looks a decent r/r trade. Cheers Gooner i think we can have some panic buying through your level IMHO. Lagano haha i dont think i could afford you, be careful it is a jungle out there.

good ideas shared! my take as a short term trader is right now after I see these long shadowed hourly candles in Yen crosses and also the support of 55 MAs in 4H charts below...

I'm not sure for my self and have no position ATM but will watch with high interest coz it will be great contrarian trade longing those crosses while they look tanking -- again those long shadows on Hourlies give good indications... but you are pro-s and know ur risk.. gl/gt!

Looks good value accumulating long aud/yen from current levels first long at 61.75 = 50 % looking to add to the position at 61.50. We are at these levels due to again equity weakness and profit taken in dolls/yen , especially frpm the censored. Banks . They were all buying Yen today. Stop 5990 Target 68.00. I think we are in a uptrend and cant see the sell off we saw to 55.00 early this month . Have a peaceful and relaxing week-end.

EUR/USD forecast range for the NY session start until today’s close

Happy Month end… Clear downward bias in €/$. We all know what that means where the vulnerable side of the market is (upside). Better USD tone probably due to risk aversion play. Equities seen lower following Citi news. Lets see how they close.

Width of range has narrowed. Mode of mid-range skewed to to the upside. Everyone has moved to one side of the boat.

Please add you observations. Again thanks!

wanted to ask if possible because this bear market is the first I trade into and so I don't have past experience -- is this pendulum effect a normal occurence characteristic for bear markets...

also interesting as it seems the best way to trade as most major markets are in wide range and market every now and then picks up some theme - be it UST, Gold, last 3 weeks the Yen and before it was EURGBP differentiation trade...

Social Unrest on Its Way

Yeap Trotter... thanks for the type too am still fingerthinking and switching upon languages the esperanto way bit too much...

I'll see this w/e the problem that might arise with the tens of trillions default eurozone swaps market...

Not in the mode for short term trading in such a market. I'll see the weeklies next days and see what and where the whole wanna go.. Suspect eurozone crisis has yet to show to out into market prices, somehow they curbing for what ammons have been left to the european PPT.

ECB went also toxic was reading as of earlier and even if they lower rates at this point, most paradoxally pay higher rates. 7 to 10 pct or higher in eurozone. So as I said time ago It is not the problem of interest rates that most news have been talking past year, but the quality of money and assets and the capability of banks to lend. Which was overgrown anywhere. Hence the economic cycle is going to take a huge toll next years and several will default as the bankrupticies develop. Sort of domino effect. So far might be yet months to go for the reality check. Or might be monday already. Gonna see. But at least It gets interesting.

Have a nice and restful w/e

excerpt from link lower - social unrest onto Its way, It has been long cooking so far given most countries have an autistic leading greedy class - not to mention Ukraine which is basically defaulted, as Latvia coupla weeks ago.

-

There's more in the region to worry about. The series of riots that erupted in Bulgaria, Lithuania and Latvia in January, followed by Latvia's government collapse last week, raise concerns that Eastern European countries may experience a period of deep destabilization and social strife as the economic crisis deepens and unemployment rates soar.

The recent wave of popular unrest was not confined to Eastern Europe. Ireland, Iceland, France, the U.K. and Greece also experienced street protests, but many Eastern European governments seem more vulnerable as they have limited policy options to address the crisis and little or no room for fiscal stimulus due to budgetary or financing constrains.

Deeply unpopular austerity measures, including slashed public wages, tax hikes and curbs on social spending will keep fanning public discontent in the Baltic states, Hungary and Romania. Dissatisfaction linked to the economic woes will be amplified in the countries where governments have been weakened by high-profile corruption and fraud scandals (Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria).

A UK article, but with major significance within the G7.

Without going into aspects that should be posted on the political forum:

The current ‘financial management’ that is being adopted – and followed by ‘some minors’ is a reactionary policy, and as long as this continues, the more we shall see the major contributors to an individual economy being squeezed.

Wake up! Globalisation is good for the major economies while they can profit from the minor. The slave trade although now supposedly outlawed, still exists.

It is time for individual internal considerations, and until this happens, the ‘collective aspect’ will not have a major shift.

Time For USD/JPY To Take A Breather - Mizuho
Reply
USD/JPY has added 600 sen in a week and its now very overbought, so it's time to take a breather says Mizuho Corporate Bank's Nicole Elliott. She favors small shorts from 98.00 with a stop at 99.00, adding to shorts on a sustained break below 97.25 to target 96.00 and possibly 95.00. USD/JPY now at 97.70.

Accusations of further drift are likely to emerge Sunday with the expected announcement of a new “euro bond” – a low interest borrowing IOU that will be offered to EU states. The bonds could help Greece and Italy, though they may raise borrowing rates for the other 11 mostly newer states – a prospect decried as a rise of “economic nationalism and protectionism” in the West by Jacek Pawlicki, Europe editor of the Warsaw newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza.

So please don't clone your mind on me.

The Gulasch Crisis gets Paprika Hot
Reply
3 articles worth a look onto the Gulasch Crisis, So far I do not see yet the Hot Paprika Gulasch Developing but might be anytime in some places as excess loans over capital and misguided risk management are taking Its toll from the banking systems, to the baskets from smaller national banks, to the pension systems and to the inability to withold lending over the economic realities that were over estimated due sort of autistic leading classes. Growth must be morbid, well orginized and long term planeed, most there were not. One exception is maybe Slovenia, Slovakia also reported the FT earlier this week, even is Slovakia has been abusing over National Debt in distorted manners - bad old culture inehrited in most of the east block from the Soviet times. While the bunch of others have alredy pension systems, medicare, social disparities exploding long time, but their provincial leading classes wanted to have both double sided, autonomy of the provicial leading classes wanting to take control upon all and trading with the EU for subventions for their own abuse. This is not the EU principles that have been sat, most were simply too greedy. But one understands It as looking at their history and their "depressed love" for the American dream inheritated. As a result most there have based growth about unsound differnetials managment, from diff loans to country salaries gaps and to real estate to international financing and help abuses.

Bollard: RBNZ Doesn't Want Businesses To Put Up Shutters

Policy convergence is the main theme of 2009, says Nick Bennenbroek, head of currency strategy at Wells Fargo. He tells CNBC's Karen Tso and Sri Jegarajah he expects the dollar to stay on a stronger trend for most of this year.
http://www.cnbc.com/id/15840232?video=1
046865261&play=1

RBC Capital Markets Senior Currency Strategist Sue Trinh said fund managers may be looking to adjust their foreign exchange hedges in end of month trade.
"Fund managers tend to adjust their FX hedges at the end of each month based on changes in the value of their U.S. equity holdings," Trinh said.
"Falling U.S. equities will decrease the value of their U.S. holdings, which means they are overhedged on their foreign currency - to rebalance, they need to buy U.S. dollar."
Given the Dow Jones Industrial Average has so far dropped more than 10% this month, the Australian dollar has potential to fall to as low as the US$0.6300 to US$0.6350 range before the end of the New York trading session.
Cavenagh expects technical support for the Australian dollar around US$0.6380 and US$0.6390. Another bad Wall Street finish could push support down toward US$0.6330.

Reply
The New Zealand economy is facing an even worse outlook than the "downside scenario" outlined by Treasury in December while the government faces structural, rather than cyclical, deficits, Treasury Secretary John Whitehead said Friday. Speaking at an employment summit called by the government to mitigate the effects of recession, Whitehead told Dow Jones Newswires he agreed with Reserve Bank Governor Alan Bollard's comments earlier Friday that the economy could slip further than Treasury's "downside scenario" outlined in December. "We share that view. Our views are very similar." He said the growth outlook for New Zealand's trading partners had deteriorated significantly since December. At the start of this year, Treasury told the new government the downside scenario "is now the basic situation going forward." New Zealand's economy has been in recession since the start of last year, and many analysts expect the full force of the global recession to further deepen the domestic downturn this year. Consumption has stalled, hurting business profits and investment, with a growing number of companies also struggling to refinance their debt burden.
RBNZ's Bollard told the same summit earlier Friday that the country and the rest of the world were not in a conventional recession. He said there was great uncertainty about how long it would last. Dowj.
