17:00 GMT (Global-View.com) Oct 1- The new quarter, has gotten off to an active start. We've noticed that over the years that forex markets trade most actively when the USD is weak. Worries about the structural weaknesses of the economy persist and they are now weighing on the currency. In my mind, there is little doubt that the U.S. administration and the Fed are pursuing a weak USD policy.

this may takes weeks to hit 2 nd target and will be update on time.

I'm only day trading, Wednesday +270 pips. Thursday 198, today..... nil.... 15 trades, all that risk and zero profit.

I normally manage 120, then walk away.

If I had listened to my own counsel... instead of listening to the 'Big-Boys', it would have been pretty good profit wise.

But, lacking confidence, I closed out positions for loss, which later came good. (not much later)

I would be grateful for any guidance you might be kind enough to offer, so if you ask Jay for my email, I would be much obliged.

PMI data are probably the best and earliest current indicator of how the economy is doing. The chart runs the U.S. against the EZ. FWIW the EZ is nothing to write home about. These economies are flattening out at best. Readings above 50 still indicate expansion. Below 50 is contraction.

U.S. ISM Purchasing Managers Index – Manufacturing

Most major economies have purchasing managers indices (PMI) released monthly. They are compiled by various organizations. Some focus on the manufacturing sector while others measure the service sector. They are a very current measure of the economic health of the manufacturing or services sector. The PMI indices are usually based on five major indicators: new orders, inventory levels, production, supplier deliveries and the employment environment.

A PMI of greater than 50 represents expansion, compared to the previous month. A reading under 50 represents a contraction, while a reading at 50 indicates no change.

We find the PMI indices to be useful predictors of future economic activity.

U.S. Core PCE price index

The Core PCE price index is defined as personal consumption expenditures (PCE) prices excluding food and energy.

IMPACT: Core PCE is said to be the preferred inflation measure of the Fed and therefore is a very significant release in that it can influence policy. It is thought the Fed targets core PCE loosely between 2.0% and 3.0%.

Personal Income
Personal income is defined as the income that is received by persons from participation in production, from both government and business transfer payments, and from government interest (which is treated like a transfer payment). It is calculated as the sum of wage and salary disbursements, other labor income, proprietors'' income with inventory valuation and capital consumption adjustments, rental income of persons with capital consumption adjustment, personal dividend income, personal interest income, and transfer payments to persons, less personal contributions for social insurance.

Germany To Raise Currency Issue With China - Govt Source

German officials will raise issues related to the "functioning of the international currency system" with Chinese officials when they meet in Germany next Tuesday, a government official said Friday. "I certainly expect that the international currency system will be on the agenda," when Chancellor Angela Merkel meets with Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao, said the official, who briefed reporters on condition of anonymity.
"We're a world economy. When two great economic powers get together they're going to talk about exchange rates, the euro-dollar exchange rate and also the euro-yuan exchange rate," the official said.

What's the buzz?

Euro: FX traders say Euro strength should not be confused with Dollar weakness, with new month/quarter pressure on the US unit pushing EUR/USD above 1.3700 and 1.3750 option barriers in European morning trading. Recycling of overnight intervention proceeds by Asian officials boosted the single currency, with this diversification providing the spark for fresh volatility. Traders went on to say US buying and the reaction to the EZ PMI data then combined to erase the first of the options, with follow-through eventually removing the second, despite EZ Unemployment coming in slightly higher than expected (10.1% in August, against the 10.0% expectations). Tighter peripheral European spreads have also supported the Euro heading into the weekend. A bit of a pullback however from 1.3764 to print 1.3725 going into the NorAm trade.

12:30 GMT 1 Oct 2010 US- Personal Income After posting a solid 0.4% gain in July, we forecast personal spending rose by a further 0.3% in August, providing encouragement that consumer spending should help underpin GDP growth in the third quarter. However, with disposable incomes under pressure and continuing slow jobs growth, the pace of recovery is likely to remain modest.

14:00 GMT 1 Oct 2010 US- ISM Manufacturing PMI is expected to disappoint. The manufacturing ISM provided a positive surprise last month after rising to 56.3 but looks poised to fall in September based on anecdotal evidence. We look for a fall in the manufacturing ISM to 55, with the risk of a sharper drop.

Very much appreciate the observation.

I only use the best I have.... some times right.. other times wrong.

I only posted what I'm doing, as I came in for some flak for failing to back-up what I said.

Very happy to post less and watch better people more.

Thanks GLGT

The whole difrent markets go up when USD goes down , but the boat is full with masters , they looking for higher return and think they can switch on/off forever, don't think the weak USD is good for global economy and US, this is just a excuse to make a position, the inbalances is growing in world economy, and the crash will be more severe than in 2008!!

Nothing remarkable in China's mirage..China is just reverting to the historic norm after a hundred years of wars and revolutions and that is all..Still at its early stage of its modernization..The historic norm is that for 18 of the last twenty centuries,China's economy was the largest in the world with leading science and tech for centuries..

Japan and Korea are derivative cultures of Chinese culture..China,Japan,and Korea all share the similar national IQ and traditions too..The only difference is in size..Ten times the size of Japan and twenty times the size of Korea..So when China's average income level will reach the level of Singapore or Taiwan or Hongkong or Korea or Japan or even higher than those in coming decades, the mirage will look much bigger than now:)

A recent joint study conducted by the Department of Health

A recent joint study conducted by the Department of Health and the Department of Motor Vehicles indicates that 23% of traffic accidents are alcohol related.

This means that the remaining 77% are caused by azzholes who just drink tea, coffee, carbonated drinks, juices, yogurts, and shitte like that.

Therefore, beware of those who do not drink alcohol. They cause three times as many accidents.

China takes bigger weight in $A TWI Garry Shilson-Josling
September 30, 2010 - 7:34PM
.AAP

The composition of the trade-weighted index (TWI) has changed, reflecting the greater importance of trade with China.

The TWI is a weighted average of the value of the Australian dollar against the currencies of the nation's major trading partners, calculated daily by the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) and published on its website.

The new weightings, based on the composition of Australia's merchandise trade in 2009/10, would apply to the TWI from October 1, the RBA said on Thursday.

The biggest change was the increase weight given to the Chinese renminbi, which now has a weight of 22.5 per cent of the index, up from 18.6 per cent previously.

Most of that increase was at the expense of the Japanese yen, which remains in number two spot but with a new weighting of 14.9 per cent, down from 17.1 per cent.

No other currency commands a percentage weight in double figures, now that the euro - still in third place by weight - has been scaled back to 9.9 per cent from 10.4 per cent.

The US dollar remains in fourth spot, at a new weighting of 8.5 per cent from 9.0 per cent.

The second biggest fall after the yen was suffered by the UK pound, at 3.5 per cent versus 5.0 per cent previously, dropping from fifth to tenth place.

China curbs lending in move to cool housing market
Reply
China has tightened limits on mortgage lending and plans to roll out a new tax on home sales, acting once again to cool a property market that some fear is frothing into a bubble.
The moves reflect growing unease over the failure of repeated efforts to fully bring under control a property market that has shot out of reach of most ordinary Chinese and is viewed as a threat both to political stability and to the financial system.

Rates could pop house price bubble: economist
A prominent US economist who tipped the US housing market collapse says Australia's high house prices are at risk of slumping if interest rates rise further.
Center for Economic and Policy Research co-director Dean Baker said a significant rise in interest rates in Australia would result in a ''sharp drop in house prices''.
“I have noticed the run-up in Australian house prices and it sure looks like a bubble to me,” Washington-based Mr Baker said.
