What a Day...

the letters "b" and "m" have a letter space between them . fat finger theory is a bit tough to sell. no pun intended. besides , platforms work with "0" . maybe had too many on the line , but doing that size would be done through a platform as opposed to a phone? maybe . i dont get it

Possible scenario

1)BOJ will begin to intervene at 85.0

2)Will pretend to fail down to 84.0 (critical support) will cause more USD/YEN selling

3) 84 will give way down to 83. where massive intervention will succeed

Forgive my imaginations, suffering from them the last few days.

Watching CNBC they finally have gotten around to discovering that the EUR/JPY trade preceded the plunge in stocks. I'm finding the "fat finger" story a little hard to accept.

for now:
- We will see if the Tories will be able to pull together a government once the actual votes are tallied. That will take a number of hours from now. A Conservative government should be GBP supportive if it comes to pass.

- Friday is monthly employment day for the U.S. This could be a big market mover.

- German Parliament (Upper and Lower Houses) is expected to approve Greek bailout bill tomorrow. This would not be a surprise to anyone.

LONDON: The Conservative Party leader, David Cameron, is expected to win the popular vote in the British election but whether he has to do a deal to form government - and secure the keys to 10 Downing Street - is uncertain.

As British polling booths closed at 7 this morning Sydney time after the most unpredictable election in a generation, a clutch of final polls pointed to a Tory victory, without an overall majority - and with Labour and the Liberal Democrats neck and neck for second place.

Egypt is a consuming country not a producing country. We suffer from a great economy problem before that crisis in USA and world by years (since 1970 till now). If beans become higher or lower , it doesn't affect our economy. I think , in my real opinion, the world crisis of nowadays will continue for the next five years. No solution for that crisis. If oil is up, it will make a pressure on the economy and so all commodities also. No solution seen by me in the near future

I also call for scalps intraday. Scalps have been called and taken in reactionary moves. Some for a handful of pips and some for 60 like earlier today. NOW we are in a different market than people see when they look backwards at their charts- biggest mistake ever in trading. The past does not determine the future- EVER! The EUR/USD market is now in a two way phase for some time. Take it or leave it but when you see higher levels then you'll know( and know that it is too late to do anything about it)

Noticed that we have broke some key lows in Equities, AUD. This is exactly what I wanted for setting up my trading in coming weeks.
With DolYen going nowhere, Less-Hawkish RBA comments, China tightenings, Commodities sell-off, Terrorist Threats, uncertainties in Euroland, etc...Maybe time is ripe for a deeper pullbacks in AussieYen? I am looking for a break of 80 Yen, for possible extention towards 75ish? in coming weeks.

Goldman's Chief Economist O'Neill: Euro Selling Overdone
Reply
DJ O'Neill: US Officials Won't Keep Quiet On Rise In Dollar
The euro's steep sell-off against the dollar is probably overdone, opening the door to a possible rebound, said Jim O'Neill, Goldman Sachs Group Inc.'s (GS) chief economist.

"The euro has fallen quite a long way this year. In the past three days, people are becoming emotional and a little bit irrational," said O'Neill in a phone interview Thursday. "Sentiment is so bad for the euro I think we are highly vulnerable to some kind of recovery."

The euro accelerated its slide against the dollar this week, dropping to a fresh 14-month low against the dollar Thursday on concerns that the Greek debt crisis is spilling over into other euro-zone countries, such as Spain and Portugal. Despite a EUR110 billion aid package for Greece, global markets have slumped this week as investors shunned riskier assets such as stocks and parked their cash in safe-haven U.S. Treasurys and the dollar.

In recent trade, the euro was down 1.1% against the dollar at $1.2671. The common currency, shared by the 16 euro zone member countries, has dropped more than 4% since the start of the week, bringing its loss since the start of the year to more than 10%.

But O'Neill said he still expects the euro to end the year at $1.3500 despite the current sell-off.

O'Neill, whose views on the global economy and financial markets are closely followed by investors, said the euro is getting close to the bottom against the dollar, but he declined to say what that level would be.

So, a counter trend position should have a proper stop.

HK RF, sorry for the late reply. Agree with the 92.60 level. I have closed my short USD/JPY from 84.44 opend last night 1/3 at 93.39, another 1/3 just at 93.46. Stop for the remaining 1/3 at 94.21. Ride the trend for other short JPY cross positions.

Data/Events @ 12:30 GMT

ECB Press Conference
Quantitative ease? collateral rules changes?

An important component of the ECB policy decision. Live Video broadcast.

Weekly jobless data
Recently disappointing figures

Weekly jobless data are the most current read on employment and also the economy.

Initial Jobless claims can be very volatile so many also watch the 4-week moving average to get a better handle on trends.

Continuing claims are used by economists to predict the unemployment rate. These data are not as consistent as they once were as statutory benefit rules have been changing. Changes in the rules can affect the number of individuals eligible for claims.

Updated and revised charts to follow after the report.

U.S. Quarterly Productivity
important metric for future Fed policy

Productivity measures output from a production process per unit of input. Labor productivity is typically measured as a ratio of output per labor-hour.

Greek End Game
Many commentators now believe that Greece will end up restructuring its debt — a euphemism for partial repudiation. I agree. But the reasoning seems to stop there, which is wrong. In effect, the consensus that Greece will end up defaulting is probably too optimistic. I’m growing increasingly convinced that Greece will end up leaving the euro, too.

I’ve basically laid out the logic already: even with a debt restructuring, Greece will be in deep trouble, forced to engage in severe austerity — and provoke a deep slump — just to close the primary, non-interest deficit.

The only thing that could reduce that need for austerity would be something that helped the economy expand, or at least not contract as much. This would reduce the economic pain; it would also increase revenues, reducing the needed amount of fiscal austerity.

But the only route to economic expansion is higher exports — which can only be achieved if Greek costs and prices fall sharply relative to the rest of Europe.

If Greece were a highly cohesive society with collective wage-setting, a sort of Aegean Austria, it might be possible to do this via a collectively agreed reduction in wages across the board –an “internal devaluation.” But as today’s grim events show, it isn’t.

Germany is right . We need new European rating agencies

USD/JPY's break of 93.82 minor support indicates that a short term top is in place at 94.97. Also, considering bearish divergence condition in 4 hours MACD and RSI, rise from 88.13 should be completed too. Intraday bias is now flipped back to the downside and further decline should be seen towards 91.59 cluster support (50% retracement of 88.13 to 94.97 at 91.55). On the upside, break of 94.97 is needed to confirm rally resumption. Otherwise, short term outlook is neutral at best.

CAIRO (AP) -- For the past six weeks, Khulud Mustafa has walked past the butcher near her apartment in Cairo's run-down Ain Shams district, casting wistful looks at the meat hanging outside his shop as the price has steadily risen.

From the equivalent of $8 per kilogram (2.2 pounds), to $9, then $13. When it peaked at more than $14, she stopped looking.

"I asked him, 'Are you crazy? What are you doing? How can it go up that fast?'" said Mustafa, a 24-year-old housewife with 3 children. "How are we supposed to eat?"

Mustafa's voice is one in a growing chorus of despair and frustration over rising prices of everything from food to housing in a key U.S. Mideast ally where more than 40 percent of the population of 79 million lives under or near the poverty line.

rana NOT stupid ... look at the weekly of EURJPY. See that huge continuation pattern?
In my book either 160 or 9x.

Now copy that outcome to GBPJPY.
5x?
Assuming the worst is already over - and inspecting that weekly chart - your mentioned targets don't look that unlikely.
Maybe they are even pretty conservative.
In fact it that is a continuation pattern it predicts bancrupty of UK. Something also Zero-Hedge is calling for btw.

But my friend this is one side of the coin - the other one is how sensitive JPY reacts to yields.

Watchout what will happen once this deflationairy spat is over - and the hyperinflationairy sets in - aka yields bottoming this summer - and rates start going up!

So ... as long liquidty is leavin .. we are on way to our targets.
Though the very moment indices will bottom - the other way we go.

Until then though .... still a lot of fun ahead.

CONGRATS btw to your jpy calls - GREAT job!
(though I won't have gone long ej - yen pairs almost alway go the same direction. Anyway your gains will be far outpace the loss)

Further gl & gt for you!

PS - are you aware of the UCT cycles? Google "UCT Puetz" - or visit this LINK
and search the page for Puetz.

This LINK opens the door for much much lower lows to come. And believe me - many states will disappear until the low 2035. Guess UK will make it into 2035?
World in 2035 will look like in the middle ages - just on a higher (relative though) level.

Last month a world-wide survey was conducted by the UN.
The only question asked was:
"Could you please give your honest opinion about solutions to the food shortage in the rest of the world?"
The survey was a massive failure because of the following:

1. In Eastern Europe they didn't know what "honest" meant.
2. In Western Europe they didn't know what "shortage" meant.
3. In Africa they didn't know what "food" meant.
4. In China they didn't know what "opinion" meant.
5. In the Middle East they didn't know what "solution" meant.
6. In South America they didn't know what "please" meant.
7. In the USA they didn't know what "the rest of the world" meant.
8. In Australia they hung up as soon as they heard the Indian accent

no doubt long eurjpy big misstake but here short maybe more big misstake..While it is too early to call for a retest of the 2010 lows by 119.65 over the coming sessions, the recent break below 123.00 should not be encouraging for bulls, with the market taking out some key short-term support and delaying any hopes for a more significant recovery. However, all hope is not yet lost for bulls, with key support now coming in by 121.00 which represents the right shoulder of the recently triggered inverse H&S pattern. Only a break back below this level would seriously dampen recovery hopes. Key short-term resistance comes in by 126.30.

Ex-HKMA Chief Yam: Worth Studying If Yuan Can Be Major Global Currency
Reply
The international monetary system needs a third "pillar currency," in addition to the U.S. dollar and the euro, to make the system more stable, and it is worth studying whether China's yuan could play that role, former Hong Kong Monetary Authority chief Joseph Yam said in an article published in China's central bank-run Financial News on Thursday
The International Monetary Fund's quasi-currency, the Special Drawing Right, could be another choice, Yam, who is now a vice executive chairman of the China Society For Finance & Banking, an academic association run by the central bank, said in the article.

It is also worth studying if a new "super-sovereign" currency, such as an Asian currency modeled on the euro, could be established to play the roll, he said.

Yam also said Hong Kong would be an ideal location for pushing forward yuan internationalization.

He also said central banks need to study whether their policies should have single or multiple goals, and whether central banks need to take care of asset bubbles. He added that generally speaking, multiple-goal policies could create difficulties for central banks' operations.

Yam's comments were in a transcript of a speech he delivered at a meeting held by the People's Bank of China in March to discuss the central bank's research work.

Yam said he was willing to participate in the PBOC's research and to offer his views on important topics.

Britain was given an election wake-up call yesterday as Greece's battle with massive debt erupted in blood and anarchy.
Three bank workers died after a mob protesting against spending cuts set their building ablaze.
Latest UK opinion polls suggest David Cameron is within touching distance of achieving a working majority.

But while polls still pointed to a hung Parliament, economists warned that Britain could ill-afford a period of political uncertainty.

DJ Asia May Afford Relief For Greek-Stricken Investors
Reply
Asian banks have minimal exposure to European debt--certainly that from Greece, Spain and Portugal. It seems prudence continues to win the day. Asian banks and their economies came through the recent U.S.-induced financial crisis in relatively good shape precisely because they had steered clear of subordinated debt products and repackaged debt generally.

Asian governments have also--some more so than others--worked to overcome the frailties in their banking and financial systems that were exposed so violently when the Asian financial crisis hit more than a decade ago. That's left systems in much stronger shape, and central banks much better armed with foreign exchange reserves.

The region's economies have also been faster and more convincing in their recovery over the past six to 12 months. Many challenges remain, none the least from how and when to exit the large spending measures put in place during the crisis, and how and when to tighten monetary policy (as inflation starts to rise), but if there's one place that offers any sort of sanctuary right now, it would be Asia.

The region needs Europe and the U.S. to keep buying its products, but intra-regional trade has taken up some of the slack, particularly from China.

Sounder economic fundamentals and a stronger banking system mean Asian markets may soon appear more attractive to investors in currencies and stocks (and also the better Asian credits), even if the Greek wobbles continue. It would take a lot more than what we're currently seeing to suggest we're heading anew for some sort of global banking or debt crisis.

Euro plunges to a 14-month low as fears of Greek debt contagion dominate

The single currency fell sharply across the board on Wednesday on fear that a euro-zone debt crisis might spread beyond Greece. Besides, Greek workers' general strike and protests also indicated Greece might have difficulties in implementing the spending cuts.

Despite minor recovery to 1.2996 in European morning, the single currency retreated from there and later tumbled to an intra-day low of 1.2803 in US morning due to Greek debt contagion fears together with the weakness in European and U.S. stocks. Euro was also pressured by the news that Moody's said Portugal's AA2 ratings was on review for possible downgrade plus ECB's Weber's comments that Greece's financing on capital market is greatly endangered and Greek default would be a substantial risk for the stability of eurozone and financial system and serious contagion effects for other eurozone states. German Chancellor Merkel also warned the crisis could spread in Europe if the bailout package for Greece didn't succeed.

Despite cable's bounce to 1.5174, the pair then tumbled below Tuesday's low of 1.5090 to a five-week low against the dollar at 1.5068 in NY morning. Although the latest polls were showing Tories might come closest to winning the parliamentary election on the coming Thursday, two polls were pointing to a 'hung parliament' , which would leave the country a government too weak to rein its budget deficit.

The Japanese yen rose across the board as the debt contagion fears deteriorated the market sentiment, prompting investors to dump riskier assets for the yen as a safe-haven currency. Cross buying in yen helped the Japanese currency as eur/jpy slumped from 123.39 to 119.95 while aud/jpy fell from 86.55 to 84.67 and gbp/jpy tumbled from 144.03 to 141.24. Versus the Japanese yen, the greenback fell from 94.99 to 93.54.

Economic data to be released on Thursday include: New Zealand Unemployment, Australia Retail sales, Australia Trade balance , Swiss CPI , U.K. Services PMI , Germany Factory orders, EU ECB rate decision, U.S. Jobless claims, Productivity, Canada Ivey PMI and Building permits.

The new request will bring the total bill for rescuing Freddie Mac, which has been effectively owned by the government since nearly collapsing in September 2008, to $61.3 billion.

....new accounting standards made it difficult to compare the most recent quarter with the year-earlier period. In the first quarter of this year, Freddie Mac was forced to bring $1.5 trillion in assets and liabilities onto its balance sheet, causing the company’s net worth to fall by $11.7 billion.

Forex Forum

The Global-View Forex Forum is the hub for currency trading on the web. Founded in 1996, it was the original forex forum and is still the place where forex traders around the globe come 24/7 looking for currency trading ideas, breaking forex news, fx trading rumors, fx flows and more. This is where you can find a full suite of forex trading tools, including a complete fx database, forex chart points, live currency rates, and live fx charts. In addition, there is a forex brokers directory where you can compare forex brokers. There is also a forex brokers hotline where you can ask for help choosing a forex broker that meets your individual fx trading needs. Interact on the same venue to discuss forex trading.

Forex News

The forex forum is where traders come to discuss the forex market. It is one of the few places where forex traders of all levels of experience, from novice to professionals, interact on the same venue to discuss forex trading. There is also the GVI Forex, which is a private subscription service where professional and experienced currency traders meet in a private forex forum. it is like a virtual forex trading room. This is open to forex traders of all levels of experience to view but only experienced currency tradingprofessionals can post.

Currency Trading

Currency trading charts are updated daily using the forex trading ranges posted in the Global-View forex database. You will also find technical indicators on the fx trading charts, e.g. moving averages for currencies such as the EURUSD. This is another forex trading tool provided by Global-View.com.

Forex Brokers

The forex database can be used to access high, low, close daily forex ranges for key currency pairs, such as the EURUSD, USDJPY, USDCHF, GBPUSD, USDCAD, AUD, NZD and major crosses, including EURJPY, EURGBP, EURCHF, GBPJPY, GBPCHF and CHFJPY. Data for these currency trading pairs dating back to January 1, 1999 can be downloaded to an Excel spreadsheet.

Forex Trading

Forex chart points are in a currency trading table that includes; latest fx tradinghigh-low-close range, Bollinger Bands, Fibonacci retracement levels, daily forex pivot points support and resistance levels, average daily forex range, MACD for the different currency trading pairs. You can look on the forex forum for updates when one of the fx trading tools is updated.

FX Trading

Global-View also offers a full fx trading chart gallery that includes fx pairs, such as the EURUSD, commodities, stocks and bonds. In a fx trading world where markets are integrated, the chart gallery is a valuable trading tool. Look for updates on the Forex Forum when the chart gallery is updated.

Forex Blog

Global-View.com also offers a forex blog, where articles of interest for currency trading are posted throughout the day. The forex blog articles come from outside sources, including forex brokers research as well as from the professionals at Global-View.com. This forex blog includes the Daily Forex View, Market Chatter and technical forex blog updates.
