18:00 GMT (Global-View.com) Aug 27, 2010 We were not disappointed by the speech by Fed Chair Bernanke today, but we had not been looking for much. Some in the markets had lost sight of the fact that he was attending a symposium and was not coming out of an FOMC meeting.

Reply
Selling pressure on gbpusd shall resume around 1.5650 on GBPUSD why?:
GBPAUD may bounce back to 1.74 and AUDUSD should confront strong resistance around 0.9 so 1.74* 0.9 is equal to 1.6560
As for EURUSD
EURAUD may bounce back to 1.43 same AUD resistance at 0.9 so
1.43*0.9 = 1.287
Those are the strongest levels of resistance for next week and I bet the market will lapse back before it reaches them.

Significant sell offs in GBPAUD and EURAUD will support both GBPUSD and EURUSD once AUDUSD starts turning lower. All In all, EURUSD stops should be placed around 1.29 and GBPUSD stops around 1.58. Otherwise market will easily target lower stops cause any strong bounces in GBPAUD and EURAUD will send EURUSD and GBPUSD fying 100 pips or so.

What a day. AUDUSD was by far nd large the superstar of the day. Play range 0.90 0.88 with caution. USD is about to roar so I expect USDCHF USDCAD to turn north swifly next week. The sum of bad news coming out surpasses good ones so I expect AUDUSD to trade lower next week which also means EURUSD and GBPUSD will continue to be trashed in such scenario.

Dear Pat-

I am probably one of the most optimistic people you'll run across.
The coming "situation" is an opportunity for those who are prepared. It will be the greatest transfer of wealth for generations. Real estate for a fraction of the current price in terms of "real money". What an opportunity!
And since no one "owes" anyone in the US their daily bread (contrary to the ever growing popular belief), one can purchase the ingredients to make their own at a mere pittance compared to what it will be selling for later.

Happy Day!

The single European currency lost some ground against the dollar on average again this week. After climbing over 1.33 at the beginning of August, the euro hovered around 1.27 this week. This seems rather odd, given that

Revised 2Q10 U.S. GDP @ 12:30 GMT

Following a record widening in the US trade deficit in June, we expect the second estimate of Q2 GDP on Friday to be revised down to 1.4% quarterly annualised growth from an originally reported 2.4%. Furthermore, Q3 GDP indicators to date are suggesting that growth could remain muted for some time.

U.S. Gross Domestic Product (GDP) Revision to 2Q10 release

The total value of goods and services produced within the borders of a country, regardless of who owns the assets or the nationality of the labor used in producing that output. The growth of output is usually measured in real terms, meaning increases in output due to inflation have been removed.

Importance: One goal (often unstated) of central banks is sustained growth of the economy with full employment and stable prices. Real GDP is the most comprehensive measure of the performance of an economy. By monitoring trends in the overall growth rate as well as the unemployment rate and the rate of inflation, policy makers are able to assess whether the current stance of monetary policy is consistent with its policy goals.

German Austerity -the world's most expensive BBQ."
Reply
HAMBURG -- A BBQ dinner of wild boar and beer, held for President Bush four years ago, is at the center of a lawsuit to be decided in Germany next week.

In 2006, on his way to the G8 Summit in St. Petersburg, Bush toured Germany's Baltic Coast. Later in the evening, he was treated to a feast of wild boar with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in the northern town of Trinwillershagen. At the time, the only protests regarding the BBQ came from a few hundred anti-war activists who greeted the president on his arrival.

But when it was reported that the BBQ's bill came to a reported 8.7 million euros, one taxpayer felt he'd been overcharged. Using Germany's freedom of information law, he filed a request to see the exact breakdown of expenditures

His request was originally denied for security reasons. Some 12,000 police officers from several German states were called in for protection at the event.

According to The Local , a court in the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania could decide this week whether or not to release the cost breakdown of the BBQ.

When the cost of dinner was later revealed, some in the German press dubbed it "the world's most expensive BBQ."

In the new post free market economy supply and demand are no longer important. Central bankers decide ( in some obscure places like Jackson Hole ) where the price of real estate , interest rates , stock markets should be irrespective of free market dynamics. This reminds me of the former USSR with Bernanke and Geithner as co- heads of the Central Plan Bureau and Obama giving long Soviet style speeches about how good the economy really is . Yes We Can

DJ ..AUD Will Start To Feel The Pain
Reply
As global economies stall and demand for commodities weaken, the AUD will feel the pain says Nick Hastings
As hopes for the global recovery run out, so do hopes for more Australian dollar gains.
In fact, the Aussie's rally over $0.90 earlier this month is hardly likely to repeated again just now.
The problem for the Australian currency is the increasing risk of a double dip recession in the global economy, which already has the dovish elements both in the U.S. and Japan seeking to increase monetary easing.
This is quite a turnaround from the days when financial markets were confident the recession was over and, as a leading commodity currency, the Aussie was able to capitalize on the prospect of increased global demand.
As reports from the central bankers' symposium in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, later today are likely to show, both Japanese and U.S. officials are now well aware that their economies aren't staging the recoveries that had been expected and that more monetary help is needed.
But in both cases the monetary easing hasn't emerged as quickly as expected.
For the Aussie, additional concern has come from China, Australia's principle trading partner. Efforts by Beijing to prevent the economy from overheating have proved even more successful than expected with recent trade data from both Japan and South Korea showing that while Chinese demand is still relatively strong, it has certainly lost momentum.
As the price of commodities have tumbled, so too have the prospects for further Aussie gains as the market waits to see how long it will take for the next global upswing to emerge.
Australian politics certainly aren't helping the Aussie either.
With three out of the four independent and Green members of parliament involved in the coalition talks supporting the tax, there is a high chance that it will have to be resurrected, especially now that Labor leader and incumbent prime minister, Julia Gillard, appears to be pulling ahead in the polls.
Just the headlines this week confirming the MP's tax position were enough to knock the Aussie lower.
Early Friday the dollar is also little changed against the majors as most players move to the sidelines ahead of events in the U.S. later Friday that should dictate the dollar's fate for many sessions to come.

HI folks. Still maintaining the view that GBP/USD is on bearish mode and what happened yesterday could be a perfect set-up for a beating black-and-blue towards 1.5400 once again - and final break of it.

Still maintaining shorts opened up yesterday.

DJ Australian Economic Outlook Now More Uncertain - Survey
Reply
Economic developments both at home and abroad are muddying the economic forecast in Australia, according to an industry survey released Friday.

In its latest monthly bulletin of economic trends, the Melbourne Institute said economic indicators in Australia are increasing concerns that there may be a rollercoaster economy emerging. While consumer sentiment is rebounding, stock prices remain low. In addition, recent data show a robust improvement in the labor market appears to be slowing down.

For 2010, the institute forecasts Australian GDP growth of 2.4%, up from 1.3% a year ago. Underlying inflation is forecast at 2.6%, and the year-end unemployment rate at 5.2%.

"While over the past months we have seen a shift from part-time to full-time employment, the latest labor statistic points to a shift back from full-time to part-time employment and most of this applied to females," said Michael Chua, a member of the institute's macroeconomics team.

In addition, Chua noted younger workers are having a difficult time gaining employment.

"Younger unemployed persons were seen to be taking up jobs at a slower rate compared to older unemployed persons... the gap between the unemployment rate for persons aged 15 to 24 years and the national rate remains relatively high."

On a global basis, the Melbourne Institute said growth was clearly slowing. In the U.S. and Japan there were signs of slow recovery, while China and Germany are growing, which led the institute to wonder whether exports to China and Germany could continue in that environment.
