But in this case memory lane is short enough for people to pay attention, since the FOMC decision came just a few weeks ago, as did the presser, and both the statement and Bernanke led the market to believe that they would simply stand on the gas -- and the FOMC was not only behind him on this with the exception of his one dissenter, they saw this as appropriate through 2015 or maybe even later.

Nope.

a few members expressed the view that ongoing asset purchases would likely be warranted until about the end of 2013, while a few others emphasized the need for considerable policy accommodation but did not state a specific time frame or total for purchases.
Several others thought that it would probably be appropriate to slow or to stop purchases well before the end of 2013, citing concerns about financial stability or the size of the balance sheet. One member viewed any additional purchases as unwarranted.

It took the WSJ's Jon Hilsenrath, who one more time is modestly relevant in a world in which QE is implied until infinity or until the Fed loses all control of the money creation process, 12 whopping minutes to release a 589-word article analyzing the FOMC minutes.
At least we know one of the people who had the embargoed version hours ago. We are confident he did not leak their content to anyone.

Minutes of the Fed's Dec. 11-12 policy meeting showed that officials were divided about when to halt the programs, with a few wanting to continue them until year-end, several others wanting to end the programs well before then and some wanting to halt them right away. While exposing the rift, the minutes left little clear indication which course the central bank would choose.

Stops rub in EURUSD run on less dovish Fed comments.

GVI Forex Fed Minutes 19:09 GMT January 3, 2013
United States

Information received since the Federal Open Market Committee met in December suggests that the economy has been expanding moderately, notwithstanding some slowing in global growth. While indicators point to some further improvement in overall labor market conditions, the unemployment rate remains elevated. Household spending has continued to advance, but growth in business fixed investment has slowed, and the housing sector remains depressed. Inflation has been subdued in recent months, and longer-term inflation expectations have remained stable.

Consistent with its statutory mandate, the Committee seeks to foster maximum employment and price stability. The Committee expects economic growth over coming quarters to be modest and consequently anticipates that the unemployment rate will decline only gradually toward levels that the Committee judges to be consistent with its dual mandate. Strains in global financial markets continue to pose significant downside risks to the economic outlook. The Committee also anticipates that over coming quarters, inflation will run at levels at or below those consistent with the Committee's dual mandate.

To support a stronger economic recovery and to help ensure that inflation, over time, is at levels consistent with the dual mandate, the Committee expects to maintain a highly accommodative stance for monetary policy. In particular, the Committee decided today to keep the target range for the federal funds rate at 0 to 1/4 percent and currently anticipates that economic conditions--including low rates of resource utilization and a subdued outlook for inflation over the medium run--are likely to warrant exceptionally low levels for the federal funds rate at least through late 2014.

The Committee also decided to continue its program to extend the average maturity of its holdings of securities as announced in September. The Committee is maintaining its existing policies of reinvesting principal payments from its holdings of agency debt and agency mortgage-backed securities in agency mortgage-backed securities and of rolling over maturing Treasury securities at auction. The Committee will regularly review the size and composition of its securities holdings and is prepared to adjust those holdings as appropriate to promote a stronger economic recovery in a context of price stability.

Voting for the FOMC monetary policy action were: Ben S. Bernanke, Chairman; William C. Dudley, Vice Chairman; Elizabeth A. Duke; Dennis P. Lockhart; Sandra Pianalto; Sarah Bloom Raskin; Daniel K. Tarullo; John C. Williams; and Janet L. Yellen. Voting against the action was Jeffrey M. Lacker, who preferred to omit the description of the time period over which economic conditions are likely to warrant exceptionally low levels of the federal funds rate.

The minutes of the Dec 12 FOMC decision will be released at 1900 GMT. I don't see how they could affect FX. The Fed is printing until infinity and Bernanke answered questions for two hours after the decision. At the moment, there are no questions about what the Fed will do next so I can't see an angle that would move markets. If anything, I guess there could be some USD/JPY weakness on a downbeat economic assessment

My plan is not changed. 1683, 1686, 1689, 1692, 1695. Every $3 up for the sell trading scheme. with 1722 as last entry and s/l decision made there.

I could well understand how you frustrated with big losses with those $10 stoploss and $1 profit trades. Yet, it's not the excuse to bickering others and complained Dr. Q with your novice experience.

I am tired of your lines which is out of your own bias. I wish you having more fluke trades like the ones recently.

Seems silly bank indicator should not be on the table for some quick swift profits for people like you here.

Again, wish you GL and GT.

•Review of 100 studies by US Government researchers found people of a normal weight were more likely to die early than those who were slightly overweight
•But being any more than slightly obese makes you third more likely to die young
•Plump people may live longer as they have more reserves if they lose weight due to ill health in old age

TRUCK CARRYING $10 MILLION IN SILVER BARS CRASHES IN UPSTATE NY.

A truck heading from Rochester to Queens, NY crashed on Interstate 81 Monday, along with its cargo of $10 million in silver bars. The truck and $10 million in silver slid down the Interstate embankment, with the silver strewn across the interstate.
In other news, Jamie Dimon spent New Years Eve vacationing in upstate New York.
We hope rescue workers were able to recover every last bar, as we are talking $1 billion in rehypothecated paper silver at risk.

COMEX SILVER Jan 2
The total silver comex OI continues to play havoc with our bankers as no matter what they attempt to do, the silver leaves refuse to fall. Today the total OI fell by a very tiny 259 contracts to settle tonight at 141,489 from Monday's level of 141,748. The non active January silver month saw it's OI fall from 344 down to 45 for a loss of 299 contracts. We had 299 delivery notices so we did not gain or lose any silver oz standing for delivery in January. The next big delivery month for silver is March and here the OI fell by 152 contracts from 80,039 down to 79,887. The estimated volume today at the silver comex was fair at 33,226. The confirmed volume on Monday was very low at 20,463.(HARVEY)

Those commercials that have been short in silver, covered a rather large 4676 contracts to their long side.

Our small specs:

Those small specs that have been long in silver covered a huge 3119 contracts from their long side.
Those small specs that have been short in silver added a tiny 166 contracts to their short side.
The specs in silver refused to be goaded into going more short by the antics of the crooked banks.

Conclusion; more bullish than last week as the bankers went net long by 8631 contracts.

Buffett's $22 Billion Monopoly

Over the last two years, Warren Buffett has quietly worked to secure a monopoly for supplying America's hottest oil field. He's already made $22 billion on this monopoly. And he'll make billions more in the years to come.

Now, it's not unusual for Buffett to make lopsided deals. But he may have had help from president Obama on this one.
