- Forex
markets got a jolt in mid-afternoon NY trade when EU outgoing President
Junker said that the EUR exchange rate is dangerously high. It is
unclear if his comments would be part of a new policy initiative.
- Word that 90.00 in the
USDSJPY might be the govenment target triggered a bout of profit-taking
in a crowded trade. Its possible that the 90.00 level is only an
interim target, but in any case Tokyo will not want to see slippage in
the recent USD gains.
- The focus now is the BOJ
meeting next week (January 22). PM Abe said Sunday he is looking
for the successor to current BOJ Chief Shirakawa to take bold monetary
policy action to stimulate growth.
- It is a bit early but
Obama restated hias opposition to any compromise in Debt
ceiling negotiations in February. Thi os looking ugly.
- Fed
Chairman Bernanke and Fed speakers Tuesday emphasized the Fed focus on
its full-employment mandate. January 30 sees the next Federal Reserve
policy decision.
- Eurozone
November industrial Production data released Monday were weak but were
more or less in line with market expectations.
Recent EZ data generally has been on the soft side, in contrast to the
U.S.
- The
key EURUSD 20-day average is 1.3198. The 10-yr bund is 1.50%, -5bp
Key European bourses are mixed. U.S. shares are mixed. The
U.S.
10-yr is 1.82%, -3bp.
- Key Asian bourses were
higher. The 10-yr JGB
is 0.78%, -4 bp. The USDJPY

A bullish signal was generated on the chart, so by this time we may assume that all small and medium bulls are in.
I just feel suspicious because an article predicting this break appeared just before it happened, giving me an idea that some "Bulls" are orchestrating it for a fast short term profit and exit.

For a graph on copper you could try LME.co.uk. There's free data for non-ferrous metals and steel billets. The graphs are pretty basic though. Prices go back a few years. Hope it might be of help. In any event might prove to be a good source of information for the future if you've never accessed it before.

Most of Chile's production is mined by BHP and Ri Tinto.
