Event risk today: Australias Q1 PPI today holds little interest for markets given CPI is known. Trading bullets will be reserved for tonights US payrolls report for April, the consensus estimate being +140,000 jobs.

IMPACT ITEMS: GB- SVC PMI, US- Employment, SVC PMI
- U.S. April employment will be
released at 12:30 GMT on Friday. A gain in jobs of +/-150K

nothing else was offered
- PMI data from Europe were
mixed. The HSBC flash Chinese PMI was revised down.
- The EZ flash PMI was unrevised.
The Swiss PMI regained the 50 level (50.2).
- The FOMC decision
Wednesday was cautious to neutral as expected. Future policy decisions
will be data dependent.

think you can buy the dips from now on, but while 200 hour caps (13072) its going to be tough going. think the same support below 13000 will be apparent tomorrow so its a card that can be played. slowly but surely most ivbs have lowered forecasts for non farms to c. 125/140k, so its going to take a sub 100k number to create a big enough reaction to get euro in rally mode again. weekly jobless claims have come too late to figure in april non-farms so the chance of a beat is very small, so in such a case i think we would very much be testing the support around 13000 and below. doesnt mean long cable or euro ahead of the data is a bad idea as these can be quickly reversed and losses swallowed as downside for these pairs would be quite large as we would be flipping from arguably the possibility of extra qe, back to tapering in q4.

EU will not disappear tomorrow or in a year ... nor will it happen all at once ... with such bureaucracy and political hopes in the clouds will slowly become a fictional Union ... will slowly erode with internal differences and disunity ... And so, one day ... its like UN, several leading countries that use the UN mechanism IF and WHEN they require and a lot of members with no ability to affect the outcome ... but that's the world we share ...

TD 13:56 Sarkozy claimed recently here in Montreal that anyone now using the Euro can not leave it because their debt is nominated in Euros and leaving would reprice that debt in a new fiat ccy making it that much more expensive.
I suggest to anyone in the Eu and using the Euro, if they contemplate leaving, to do it asap while the Eu princes do not have pantzer divisions ready to roll in to assert their collection procedures.

EU is just a club ... not a federation or confederation - only a club ... and like any club, when they encounter problems then there is disagreements ... a lot of bureaucracy and a couple of dominate countries ... all others are just club members who wants the benefits with hope ... this EU can only collapses ... but there is no will to structural changes ... so strong euro is just a good entry point for short ... but when compared with the dollar - everything is possible ... yet the real value of the euro we get by comparison with all other currencies ...

ECB/Fear of higher borrowing costs
following on from that, hungary sold 5 and 10yr very well today, and that is helping the forint and has given the neighbouring zloty a boost too. the latter is residing just above the 100 day sma on gbp cross and while its fortune is almost certainly linked to the euros direction today, a move higher will target the 200 day sma slight above 5.00, while a dip back under the 100 sma will suggest a retest of recent support of 4.80.

Market getting some relief on a rate and a short term risk of higher borrowing costs on this:
France has sold 4bn of 10-year debt at a record low yield of 1.81%, as the bond market bubble continues to drive borrowing costs lower.
Traders bid for twice as much debt as Paris had on offer - which helped to drive down the bond's interest rate to its all-time low.

nice pop on cable but should really follow through on a good beat like that, suggests my view yesterday evening holds some water. 100 day sma at 15555 is first support while a move below todays low targets 100 hour sma/1.5410. with non farms tomorrow there is a risk that nothing is decided today, but by tomorrow evening at latest cable needs to be north of 1.5606 otherwise fridays low could be anything from 1.54 downwards.

periphery pmis wre expected to be slightly better than estimated officially when comparing last weeks german pmi print and euroland as a whole, so its no surprise that they are better and I think thats seen in the limited upward reaction in euro. had the pair been trading a bit lower i think the reaction could have been a bigger one.
uk construction pmi out in seconds should be marginally higher than 48 and cable could rally a bit higher on this if seen.
