Fed Policy Decision
surprising that the media made a fuss that FOMC didn't mention EM turmoil - the Fed didn't act in 1997 currency crisis (actually raised rates once) but waited until summer fall '98 financial crisis (LTCM, Ruble) to take action
if the current turmoil becomes a crisis Fed may offer liquidity to other CBs but taper will continue - a lot different than the 1997 analogy du jour (no Euro back then - DEM weakened aubstantially)

Daily Video Market Update
Video was made before this spike in the EURUSD but levels remain the same as 1.3550 stays pivotal and 1.3580 a key resistance. Month end flows can be tricky, especially on a thin Friday and risk off day, perhaps seeing some repatriation flows to the EUR on emerging market weakness or may just be some month end flows that will not last.
Early thoughts are that EURUSD upside should have a limit ahead of next week's ECB meeting.

Early in European trading hours, prices in prime fixed income markets are higher. Markets longer term are looking at the Fed taper decision as disinflationary.

New Zealand exports to China soar 45 percent
Jan. 30, 2014 8:49 PM EST
WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) New Zealand's exports to China rose 45 percent last year thanks to soaring demand for milk powder.
Figures released Friday by Statistics New Zealand show that China surpassed Australia for the first time on an annual basis as New Zealand's top export market.
In 2013, China imported $8.1 billion worth of New Zealand goods, up from $5.6 billion the previous year. About 40 percent of those imports were of milk powder.
Meanwhile, New Zealand's exports to Australia were down 8 percent at $7.5 billion and exports to the U.S. were down 4 percent at $3.3 billion.
New Zealand posted a slim trade deficit for the year after exporting a total $39.4 billion worth of goods and importing $39.5 billion.

I don't have a trade in $yen today
one thing I did notice though - is in gbpusd .. the same things I look at $yen in show GBP looks vulnerable later on in the trading day .. so I sold some gbp and gbpcad basically if they don't go down I'll just cut out cheaply. ( basically indicators are going to cross in a few hours - as long as price stays around this level or lower )
if you look at gbpaud - its already punched through support .. while gbpcad is about 50-60 points above the same level .. these crosses can get tricky .. but anyway that's what Im looking at today .. cheers.
