:-) Ta. Yes I know and have read Alistair Cooke. And yes the jury is still out, however, since the Kennedy murder and the Vietnam escalation you could argue the trends are concerning.

Bondholders ignore bank bail-in risk - RTRS

..."Up until now European politicians were reluctant to apply bail-in to their banks because it would be deemed a specific national problem," said Simon McGeary, head of the new products group at Citigroup.

"But they now have the pan-European cover of the Recovery and Resolution Directive."

"The elephant is the room that is driving almost everything these days is the performance of equities. "

John thanks to the GV questionnaire I have looked at various Indices out of interest.

You may know that I generally use to 1,5 & 15 min for day trading. This does not disqualify the methodology where larger timeframes are concerned.

SP500 heavy Southbound triggered mid/late April on the weekly.

FTSE100 has downside built in on the weekly.

FRA40 has just triggered a sell on the weekly.

Nikkie triggered a sell on the weekly back in January and has hardly got started.

GER30 looks to be last affected triggering a sell after it revisits 9789, should join the others by early June.

Strangely, Rouble is a buy on the weekly.... !!

I guess the point is to protect what there is to protect and to wait until satisfactory levels before going short.

All IMO. GL

john... as u astutely observe, the herd is getting restless

example: Jeremy Grantham: The Fed is killing the recovery fortune / cnn
-
Bottom Line
More n more natives are questioning the FED gang's meddling in the market, distorting pricing - by playing favorites - and questioning whether rising stox prices is evidence of improving economy or if higher stox will improve the economy by making folk feel better off and spend. In other words folk are starting to question if it is possible to print prosperity as the FED claims.

Sofar it is only a minority that are prudent players that have their thoughts about that: better be out of the market one minute too early than one minute too late. Are you familiar with "Buffalo jump" ?

S&P chart and various moving averages. This uptrend does not look to me to be as much at risk as I might have thought?

The elephant is the room that is driving almost everything these days is the performance of equities. They are the primary indicator of whether we are in a risk-on or risk-off market. Of course thanks to the algos these days key instruments in the markets seem all to trade in tandem.

I've been looking into our Commitment of Traders Charts and noticed I had made an error in specifying one of the S&P charts that I do not follow much (NET S&P positions vs. spot S&P). In looking at the corrected chart and other data, I was surprised by the sensitivity of futures (hedging?) positions to the spot vs. 20-day moving averages. I would have expected stocks to focus on longer term averages.

Anyway, note that net positions are sqaure currently suggesting to me that the most sensitive positions may not be at risk to downside stops as they were in mid-January. because of correlations markets may not be as much at risk to an equity sell-off as they were early this year and in late-2013.

Ideas, questions, discussion??

IB, I believe you will know of Alastair Cooke. If not he was an Englishman who in the 1930's emigrated to the US. His main claim to fame was a weekly monologue that was broadcasted on BBC Radio on a weekly basis.
Given your predilection for the American economy past, present and future I immediately thought of you when I watched this item on You tube.
Please take the time it only runs for about three minutes but given that it broadcast in 1973 it is as relevant today as it was then a time when the US was attempting to extract itself from Vietnam with honour.

Exclusive: China seizes $14.5 billion assets from family, associates of ex-security chief - sources

(Reuters) - Chinese authorities have seized assets worth at least 90 billion yuan ($14.5 billion) from family members and associates of retired domestic security tsar Zhou Yongkang, who is at the center of China's biggest corruption scandal in more than six decades, two sources said.

More than 300 of Zhou's relatives, political allies, proteges and staff have also been taken into custody or questioned in the past four months, the sources, who have been briefed on the investigation, told Reuters.
