The U.S. geopolitics strategy doesn't seem to be working
- Russia and China are set to sign a 30-year gas contract.
- And the "liberation" of Libya is coming unravelled.
"A Libyan air force base in the eastern city of Tobruk on Monday joined the forces of a general who had stormed the Libyan parliament to demand its suspension."

What I'm wondering is what this massive beat up will lead to. So they get the market all revved up for the next ECB meeting. And then it happens, at best as expected, at worst less exciting. What then? Do they really want us to keep believing that Central Banks can pull a rabbit out of their hats over and over and over? The fall out from this could be ugly. I wish they would all just shut up. I think all this talk is hugely irresponsible.

For those who have not read this article, I suggest doing so on a day like today.
Have you ever been long a currency in what looked like a good setup only to see the bottom drop out of nowhere? Have you ever been short a currency that setup nicely to the downside only to see it suddenly reverse to the upside? There is a term to describe this that I have added to my daily checklist that I reveal in the following article....

It should not be shocking that the EURUSD pivot point for today i3 1.3703. Its 20-day average looks to be out of range at 1.3812. EURUSD bulls have have a lot of work to do to get any momentum support for the long side of the market.
In the USDJPY, we are seeing divergence with the S&P which has turned higher. It could be giving the USDJPY a lift right now. Its pivot is 101.51, above its daily pivot the tone of USDJPY should improve? Otherwise the 20-day average at 102.11 is distant.
This looks to be shaping up as a risk-off session, but that could change after U.S. markets open today. U.S. equity markets usually do not like to follow trends that start overseas.
Any thoughts?

HIGH IMPACT NEWS ITEMS: CA: Holiday
For the moment, the focus is back on more traditional market influences. The most basic influence in forex is capital flows, and they are usually driven by interest rate and investment activities.
The dominant theme very recently in the markets has been the price correction in equity markets led by the fall in U.S. prices. It is axiomatic that falling share values can lead to rising bond prices. Higher bond prices result in lower interest rates. This is precisely what has been happening.

A piece of important w/end news worth noting. Praet is also expected to recommend the introduction of a negative rate on bank deposits for the first time, Der Spiegel reported on Sun, without citing a source.
