John// Traditionally in other countries when sincere hard work (employment) does not provide the economic freedom being sought then people would try for jobs in other countries like the USA because they offer the American Dream. This resulted in brain drain and a topic which all countries in the world would mope about but be unable to counter however, now in this case since the USA does not offer economic opportunity then the immigrants will no longer find it viable to live and work in the USA which means no brain drain, to top it off since many of the immigrants that became citizens finding their time now being wasted they will return back to their home countries eventually. The thing too is that many citizens of the USA who are not of illegal immigrant origin can think of seeking jobs in other countries and chase their dreams there, those left behind can work 3 jobs a day and squeeze out what's left...

While the Payrolls data from the U.S were stronger than expected, Weekly average earnings were a disappointment. Lead by a weaker USDJPY, the USD broadly has been trading weaker, presumably on expectations that the data are not supportive of an early Fed rate hike. The EUR is mixed on its major crosses. A weaker USDJPY is an indication of a  RISK OFF  bias. In Far East trade, equities ended mixed. JGB yields are lower. In Europe, bourses are ending lower Bond yields are also lower. Peripheral bond yields are up  U.S. equities are lower and and bond yields are down. Gold is up and oil is down.

11865/75 is resistance, should be a sellable one at least initially despite euro being desperately oversold on the dallies. its probably the lvl abv which mkt panics and chases. if we move higher and stay abv then nxt week likely to see mkt testing higher lvls such at 11965-12035. theres an argument that the xmas/new year move caught a lot of folk away from their desks and those 121xx levels need to be seen to allow positions to be filled. while us chugging along nicely and euoland in a mess euro remains a lt sell but must rally from time to time and these should be welcomed to reload.

Reply

There is an article in the FT entitled, More scrutiny needed of retail forex trading platforms, which makes the case for reduced leverage and more transparency to alert would be traders to the realities of leveraged forex trading. As the article states, “It is not the function of the regulator to keep a fool and his money from being parted, but a few steps could offer a more realistic prospectus to the would-be client." However, what caught my attention is a paragraph on how stops favor the broker and can work against the trader. This is where I can make a difference.

it is is very strange to say before NFP numbers and only 50 pips away from yearly low but ..
I think we have seen the low for this week.
range for today 1,1750-1850

options suggests a slightly bigger than average move today of c. 70 pips suggesting euro goes into nfp at c. 11820 as good support lies at 11746/50, so from there it can rebound before making a secondary move up or down. this will depend on the nfp and wages also, but more than 250k required to see a drop to 11746, a rebound to 75/80, then down to 11715/11640. more likely an initial dip to 11746/50 then a rebound to test, but ultimately fail at, 11870. as long as the nfp is above 200k, the euro should close below 118 today. if it does not, then we have a change in the underlying market and its likely that the upside will be tested in the coming days in such a case.

For consumers everywhere lower oil is excellent .

Unfortunately central banks dont care about Joe Sixpack,
they only care about big banks and big businesses, hence that Don Quixote like fight against deflation .

Just change the way you calculate inflation ,and that problem is solved .

Crude Oil

PAR 07:07 / does Vladimir or Khomeni care about what USA and Saudi Arabia want ? Were they consulted ? Was their accord to stabilize crude price obtained ?

All the cutbacks in the oil sector are already amounting to (well-paid) job cuts, related house-prices sliding, some hedge-fund bankruptcies and bank wobbling and gov't budgets based on $90+ /bbl going either into deficits or outright govvy job and services cutbacks causing "austerity" discontentment and an expectation that all the so-far cutbacks would shave approximately 0.5% off GDP.

Recently Evans prognosticated 2.6% GDP growth ( down from earlier 5% reading , without attributing the cause of his massive dark view.

Vlad and Khomeni have an opportunity, by keeping and even increasing oil valve flows, to help the western retail gasoline consumer to as if benefit from a tax cut whether the politicos and assorted 2% inflationist banksters like that or not.

Is THAT a bad thing ? Would say $40-20-0 barrel not be an even better thing ?

$Yen - Abe Economic Revisions
Reply
Next week Abe is going to announce revisions to his forecasts

for 2015 he was forecasting 1.2% growth - this will be revised to a contraction -- further forecasts will all be revised down significantly.

the bottom line is we are going to end up with these policies for some time - and most likely we will end up with a 120-125 $yen rate... rather than the current 115-120.... time will tell of course with so many events coming soon.

Looks like USA and Saudi Arabia want to stabilise crude oil prices around $ 50 to avoid too much damage to their oil businesses.
