JP i dont mine data do backtesting but i notice that during regular trading hours get filled in a quick enough time frame to allow you decent r/r. sooner or later gap will be filled as they all do given time but realistically id say while above 1870 cash or last wks cash low 1858 holds youd expect it next wk (weekly chart is constructive for a st bottom for 1970/80). of course thats why i always suggest using calls to play this rather than futures as you dont need to worry about the drawdown so to speak. i bought 1900 calls today a couple points under the fig so while its gone much further down im just a few points down on the trade. some things dont go below zero ;)

in 1912 USA was in feferal surplus, in 1913 the FED established and suddenly the USA started to be part of conflicts very far from its territory.

Stockman pretty scathing.
There has been an economic coup dtat in America and most of the world. We are now ruled by about 200 unelected central bankers, monetary apparatchiks and their minions and megaphones on Wall Street and other financial centers.
Unlike Senator Joseph McCarthy, I actually do have a list of their names. They need to be exposed, denounced, ridiculed, rebuked and removed.
The first 30 includes Janet Yellen, William Dudley, the other governors of the Fed and its senior staff. The next 10 includes Jan Hatzius, chief economist of Goldman Sachs, and his counterparts at the other major Wall Street banking houses.
Then there is the dreadful Draghi and the 25-member governing council of the ECB
Have you ever heard of Lael Brainard? Shes one of them at the Fed and very typical. That is, shes never held an honest capitalist job in her life; shes been a policy apparatchik at the Treasury, Brookings and the Fed ever since moving out of her college dorm room.
Now shes doing her bit to prosecute the war on savers.

the true consensus is nearer 170/180 so if we get that we might spike higher in euro but then come back down as jobs didnt fall off cliff, after which youd see a squeeze on weak euro longs as thats where the stops are. following that youd expect buying 11115-11050, any lower than this and it would be a full blown reversal - not sure people have the confidence for that yet, so youd expect it to move slowly higher once the downside stops taken. as to how high i think depends on stocks today.
if we get a 200/200+ numbers it will spike lower but youd expect dip buyers coming in, a test somewhere abv 112 and maybe drifting lower. a poor number sub 150k sub see 11339/75 today.
due to calendar effects ahe need to be up 0.5% or more to stop the y/y rate falling from 2.5%.

The January employment report will be released at 8:30 this morning, and is generally expected to be more than healthy, though not quite as strong as the December report. We look for payroll growth of around 200K, no change in the unemployment rate, and a somewhat misleading above-trend gain in average hourly earnings.
The annual seasonal factor revisions seem likely to smooth out the Q4 bulge in payroll growth to some extent, which might make the series appear to have less momentum.

not necessarily finishing higher. wkly s&p in line for 1945/70 test and that will calm nerves and see usd recover a bit. as i said before they need volatility - large swings to build topside hedges so think we do both sides and where it finishes up will depend on stocks. i certainly think if we are anywhere near 112 around the cut they will take their cue for the evenings from stocks. i think you can buy dips in euro, i doubt it finishes at lows (we have to finish abv 200dma or its done and i dont think they are done yet), but as i say the close might depend on stocks.

euro daily straddle less than 80 pips which is less than avg for nfp. often is the case they expect a little less volatility after a hectic mid week. but it does mean euro needs to move abv 46/52 fibs for straddle to make money on call side alone. personally i think we will test one side then the other today. might be up, down, up. or down then up. to cover topside they need to create volatility. more than 2 yards 110s and 112s at the cut today. if we go lower first 112s may draw towards cut. certainly think plenty of sup at 50% fib 11109 and the 200dma around mid 110s. topside we have the broken weekly channel at 11379, another earlier at 11339 on the monthly.

The greenback's sharp selloff to as low as 116.53 yesterday on dollar's broad-based selloff confirms recent upmove has formed a temporary top at last Friday's 1-month peak at 121.70 and consolidation with downside bias would be seen for weakness towards 116.10/20, however, over sold condition would prevent steep fall below there and reckon price would hold well above support at 115.97.
On the upside, only above 119.01 would indicate aforesaid correction has ended and turn outlook bullish for stronger gain to 119.40/50.

mkt seems to be convinced of june 23 referendum. if i was him i wouldnt want to be heading into a vote with polls like these.
on the day 14511/24 zone has held initially and while its looking weak i dont think its sees much below 145 ahead of nfp.

RF@, given state of the markets I doubt any violent pullbacks,
more likely is boiling-frog type of movement to the said target

And gold by that time will be around 1220.
Violent pullbacks should not be excluded.

AUD/USD - ..... The RBA just released its Monetary Policy Statement, Reuters reported Australia's central bank sees sub-trend economic growth and tame inflation in the year ahead, but said any cut in interest rates will depend on whether the labour market deteriorated and if recent financial market turbulence pointed to a weaker global economy.
In its 66-page quarterly report on monetary policy released on Friday, the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) highlighted the surprising strength of the labour market which led it to cut forecasts for the jobless rate.
The past decline in the local dollar had also been a key support for the economy, particularly service exports ? a trend it expects will continue. It reiterated that continued low inflation would provide scope for further rate cuts, should that be needed to support demand.
At its first policy review for 2016 on Feb. 2, the RBA left the cash rate unchanged at a record low 2.0 percent, where it has been since May last year.
