Almost like today's election - for the First Woman Pres,women Must vote for HER -- then it was The First Catholic Pres, that was the reason to vote for him, plus Irish too, tho I'm not it was a predominantly Irish Catholic parrish and school.

I suggest you watch the opinion polls for likely voting trends. Brexit would be seen as very bearish for the GBP and FTSE. This could be an active period for the GBPUSD, EURGBP and EURUSD (via GBP offset trades).

I was in primary school in a small village in the north of England.
It would have been the first presidential election that gained coverage in the UK at that time although television had been introduced much earlier.
Aspects I recall vividly:
1. That the candidates were first to contest a presidential election and born in the twentieth century.
2. The BBC reports dwelt on the charisma of JFK.
3. No reference to JFK's catholicism.
4. The degree we as small children, I'd have been under 10, too an interest in the election. Probably more so than the next UK election in 1964.
It seemed to be a different world then. The media was more deferential to politicians than they are today.

It was the first time I was politically aware - in August our idiot NJ delegation went with "favorite son" gov Meyner instead of JFK // The radical ME won two county elections as a democrat and represented the striking Postal workers in Washington in 1970

Any rational person that judges the EU over the last 20 years must conclude that it is a total failure - individual nations till represent their respective interests on international organizations and forums (e.g., there is no EU in the UN)
