I suggest you watch the opinion polls for likely voting trends. Brexit would be seen as very bearish for the GBP and FTSE. This could be an active period for the GBPUSD, EURGBP and EURUSD (via GBP offset trades).

Assuming a June 23 #Brexit referendum, it will be 4 months of opinion poll watching with GBP reacting to the swings in sentiment.

“It wasn’t the Iraqis that knocked down the World Trade Center. We went after Iraq, we decimated the country, Iran’s taking over…but it wasn’t the Iraqis, you will find out who really knocked down the World Trade Center, because they have papers in there that are very secret, you may find it’s the Saudis, okay? But you will find out,” Trump said at a Wednesday campaign event in Bluffton, South Carolina.

BREAKING NEWS

I was in primary school in a small village in the north of England.
It would have been the first presidential election that gained coverage in the UK at that time although television had been introduced much earlier.
Aspects I recall vividly:
1. That the candidates were first to contest a presidential election and born in the twentieth century.
2. The BBC reports dwelt on the charisma of JFK.
3. No reference to JFK's catholicism.
4. The degree we as small children, I'd have been under 10, too an interest in the election. Probably more so than the next UK election in 1964.
It seemed to be a different world then. The media was more deferential to politicians than they are today.

cb - I have beat the knave so i'm back - well I remember the 1960 election - 8th grade Catholic School playground as the morning after election was still in doubt (California) -- Nixon was involved in 2 of the closest elections in US history// to his credit former Pres Nixon didn't take the religious bait; neither did Humphrey in the primaries

It was the first time I was politically aware - in August our idiot NJ delegation went with "favorite son" gov Meyner instead of JFK // The radical ME won two county elections as a democrat and represented the striking Postal workers in Washington in 1970

SO yeah, that's how old I am

The Fear of the Pope was a Major Influence( if you recall) in the Kennedy v Nixon Presidential Election. JFK was a Catholic and the Dirt that was spread was that IF HE WAS ELECTED Pres ...he WUD bow to the bidding of the Pope.

How old are you, don't you remember that ....1960's man not the 16th Century. Protestant v Catholic

Forex Trading Outlook for the Week Ahead: Will UK PM Cameron Pull a Rabbit Out of His Hat?

The new week will start out with a focus on sterling, which will be influenced by the outcome of the EU summit talks with the pre-weekend price action suggests optimism that a deal can be worked out. This suggests the surprise would be no deal. This comes in a market where 1 + 1 – 3, at least as far as USDJPY goes as the failure to regain 115 despite the mid-week gains in equities has it ending the week on a defensive note. In this regard 112 will be pivotal in keeping the recent 110.97 low intact. EURUSD, meanwhile, has been in a chop since its retreat on Monday and I outline the levels to watch on both sides in my week ahead video.

BREAKING NEWS

cb - your comment yesterday about Elizabeth and The Pope are telling about the divide that has existed between Europe and the US -- Elizabeth's predecessor Mary would have burned Trump as a heretic (even Elizabeth wasn't too fond of Presbyterians) - Monty Python and I joke about the Spanish Inquisition but it was no joke 500 hundred years ago
This country was built on European religious refugees - our laws are based on this -- Europe can't be united because there is no Common Heritage - the elites, (JP's Perfumed Princes) like royalty, misunderstand this

We are undergoing a Stress Test w/ Sanders Trump populism BUT we will survive this because we have the Common Core of Capitalism as our foundation // Europe retreats to its populism w/ elitism as its core

Any rational person that judges the EU over the last 20 years must conclude that it is a total failure - individual nations till represent their respective interests on international organizations and forums (e.g., there is no EU in the UN)

The high priests couldn't decide whether to save the Greeks, still can't - the immigration issue leads to condemnation w/o resolution -- there is no military force to defend or enforce border issues - there is no common fiscal authority ------ I can go on and on but await refutation
