DJ Mexico's Peso at Six-Week High vs Dollar -- Market Talk
12:50 ET - Mexico's peso is trading at its strongest level since mid-January, helped by the day's gains in stocks and oil prices. The Bank of Mexico, which last month switched to direct intervention to defend the peso from speculative pressure, reported no dollar sales last week after selling $2B the week before. "So far, we can see the Exchange Commission not acting on FX levels in the low 18s and [with the peso] performing in line with other EMs, but more volatile weeks ahead may tell more," says Deutsche Bank. DJ UK Farmers May Turn Out to Be 'Shy Europeans' -- Market Talk
1725 GMT - In the UK, farmers aren't renowned as fans of the EU. Still, when the UK votes on EU membership June 23, many may find their reliance on EU financial support outweighing their dislike of Brussels-imposed bureaucracy, says brokerage VSA Capital. "We feel it is unlikely that the UK government would provide as much funding in a post-EU world as UK farmers currently receive." It estimates 35-50% of UK farmers' net income comes from EU subsidies. "The pragmatic nature of the farming community should mean that a high proportion vote to remain [in] the EU." DJ US-German Yield Spread Widest in 2 Months -- Market Talk
12:12 ET - Investors are demanding the highest yield premium since early January to own 10-year Treasurys instead of 10-year bunds. The widening gap underscores a better US growth outlook and divergent paths of interest-rate policy. Yields on 10-year German bunds have fallen toward record lows, driven by expectations of fresh monetary stimulus from the ECB's meeting next week. Meanwhile, the ISM report pointed to the resilience of US economy, supporting the Fed's case to slowly raise interest rates. The 10-year spread was recently at 168 basis points, versus 143 in early February; the gap was above 190 in March 2015, the most since 1989. The wider US yield premium has contributed to a stronger dollar versus the euro lately, but it also makes US bonds appealing to foreign buyers, keeping a lid on US yields. DJ Manufacturing Sector Show Signs of Improvement in February
By Eric Morath
WASHINGTON--U.S. factory activity slowed for the fifth straight month in February, but there is evidence that global headwinds for the manufacturing sector may be easing.
The Institute for Supply Management said Tuesday its gauge of manufacturing activity rose last month to 49.5 from 48.2 in January. The latest data shows the sector shrank, but the pace of the decline was less severe than it had been in recent months. A reading below 50 indicates the manufacturing sector is contracting.
Economists surveyed by The Wall Street Journal had expected the index to register at 48.6 in February.
The manufacturing sector weakened during most of 2015, and fell into contraction in October, according to ISM. A stronger U.S. dollar made exported manufactured goods more expensive for customers overseas, while imports are cheaper for American consumers. And the energy industry--once thirsty for equipment, machinery and metal--retracted swiftly in the face of cheap oil.
Manufacturing accounts for roughly 12% of the country's economic output.

DJ Canadian Manufacturing Gauge Remains Weak -- Market Talk
10:12 ET - Canadian manufacturing activity stayed soft in February despite ongoing growth in export demand, RBC's manufacturing PMI shows. The metric ticked up to 49.4 in February from 49.3, but any figure below 50 suggests a pullback among Canada's factories. RBC says the latest measure highlights the regional divide in economic performance between western Canada, which has been hurt by weak oil prices, and the rest of the country, which is benefiting from rising exports. DJ Solid Construction Spending Points to US Strength -- Market Talk
10:03 ET - A key sector of the US economy strengthened to start 2016. Overall construction spending rose 1.5% in January, the sharpest month-to-month increase since May, says Commerce, and triple economists' projected gain. Meanwhile, December's 0.1% growth was revised up to 0.6%. In January, every major category outside of residential construction posted a gain, and the data suggest the domestic economy started 2016 on solid footing. Overall construction outlays were 10% higher than January 2015. ([email protected]; @HarrietTorry)

Despite the greenback's selloff to a fresh 2-week trough at 111.04, subsequent strong rebound suggests further choppy trading above February's low at 110.99 would continue with upside bias and gain towards 114.30/40 is likely to be seen, however, as broad outlook remains consolidative, reckon resistance at 114.88 should remain intact and bring another fall later today or early tomorrow.
On the downside, only below 111.04 would revive bearishness for a re-test of 110.99, break would confirm recent downtrend has resumed and yield further weakness towards 110.40/50.
