Uneasy calm gives way to turbulence - BIS
https://www.bis.org/publ/qtrpdf/r_qt1603a.htm

Underlying some of the turbulence was market participants' growing concern over the dwindling options for policy support in the face of the weakening growth outlook. With fiscal space tight and structural policies largely dormant, central bank measures were seen to be approaching their limits.

EXCLUSIVE: GVI Analysis Of Relative Manufacturing PMIs U.S., CN, AU, CA
Reply

I like the manufacturing PMIs because they tend to be more sensitive to the economy than the Service data. I also have observed that they are a better measure of the economy than a forecaster of the future.

The commodity-related cuurencies (US, AU, CA, CN) show weakness aross the board. Only Australia has been improving, and that has been showing up recently in the AUD exchange rate

Japan appears to be doing better, while the EZ and U.K. are about dead flat. From a forex point of view, These data are not predicting strong divergences between these currencies

Latest U.S. Jobs Data
Reply

While Friday's NFP (+242K) was stronger than expected, it still was not out of line with the 232K 6 no average. The unemployment rate, on the other hand, has fallen from 6.7% to 4.9% over the past 12 mos. n balance, the employment picture has been mixed over the past year, The Fed can read it any way it wants. I can only read it as USD positive, but developments at the ECB are impacting the EUR as well.

Interesting article in "Seeking Alpha"......

Sourced from Trading Economics

In two weeks' time Canadian inflation will be announced. If this falls below 2 percent, it could be the trigger for interest rate cuts in April. The mere thought of interest rate cuts normally sends a currency down, so we will be watching this one very closely. This is of course dependent on what happens with the government's 2016 budget a few days later. The government could yet save the Bank of Canada a job, so we will have to wait and see what it brings to the table on March 22.

We see the Canadian dollar's rise as a great shorting opportunity. It could yet climb higher, as the Wall Street Journal has reported. But if it does we will use it as a buying opportunity, as we look to short it down to 65 U.S. cents in the next twelve months. This would represent a return of 12.75 percent.

We are shorting the Canadian dollar via futures contracts, but you can do the same without the need for a futures account. By shorting (or going long if you disagree with us) the CurrencyShares Canadian Dollar Trust (NYSEARCA:FXC) you will get the same result.

In the short term currencies have become incredibly unpredictable, but as we have said at the top, in the long term we have confidence that everything will fall into place. For this reason, we feel shorting the Canadian dollar versus the U.S. dollar would be a great trade for 2016.

Best of luck with your trades everybody!

Additional disclosure: Shorting the Canadian dollar versus the U.S. dollar.

The Global-View Forex Forum is the hub for currency trading on the web. Founded in 1996, it was the original forex forum and is still the place where forex traders around the globe come 24/7 looking for currency trading ideas, breaking forex news, fx trading rumors, fx flows and more. This is where you can find a full suite of forex trading tools, including a complete fx database, forex chart points, live currency rates, and live fx charts. In addition, there is a forex brokers directory where you can compare forex brokers. There is also a forex brokers hotline where you can ask for help choosing a forex broker that meets your individual fx trading needs. Interact on the same venue to discuss forex trading.

Forex News

The forex forum is where traders come to discuss the forex market. It is one of the few places where forex traders of all levels of experience, from novice to professionals, interact on the same venue to discuss forex trading. There is also the GVI Forex, which is a private subscription service where professional and experienced currency traders meet in a private forex forum. it is like a virtual forex trading room. This is open to forex traders of all levels of experience to view but only experienced currency tradingprofessionals can post.

Currency Trading

Currency trading charts are updated daily using the forex trading ranges posted in the Global-View forex database. You will also find technical indicators on the fx trading charts, e.g. moving averages for currencies such as the EURUSD. This is another forex trading tool provided by Global-View.com.

Forex Brokers

The forex database can be used to access high, low, close daily forex ranges for key currency pairs, such as the EURUSD, USDJPY, USDCHF, GBPUSD, USDCAD, AUD, NZD and major crosses, including EURJPY, EURGBP, EURCHF, GBPJPY, GBPCHF and CHFJPY. Data for these currency trading pairs dating back to January 1, 1999 can be downloaded to an Excel spreadsheet.

Forex Trading

Forex chart points are in a currency trading table that includes; latest fx tradinghigh-low-close range, Bollinger Bands, Fibonacci retracement levels, daily forex pivot points support and resistance levels, average daily forex range, MACD for the different currency trading pairs. You can look on the forex forum for updates when one of the fx trading tools is updated.

FX Trading

Global-View also offers a full fx trading chart gallery that includes fx pairs, such as the EURUSD, commodities, stocks and bonds. In a fx trading world where markets are integrated, the chart gallery is a valuable trading tool. Look for updates on the Forex Forum when the chart gallery is updated.

Forex Blog

Global-View.com also offers a forex blog, where articles of interest for currency trading are posted throughout the day. The forex blog articles come from outside sources, including forex brokers research as well as from the professionals at Global-View.com. This forex blog includes the Daily Forex View, Market Chatter and technical forex blog updates.
