Platitudes for the Plebs
The President and Chair Yellen met this afternoon in the Oval Office as part of an ongoing dialogue on the state of the economy. They discussed both the near and long-term growth outlook, the state of the labor market, inequality, and potential risks to the economy, both in the United States and globally. They also discussed the significant progress that has been made through the continued implementation of Wall Street Reform to strengthen our financial system and protect consumers.

Don't Fight The Fed

Don't fight the FED ? (is that Cramer screaming or your own voluntary yell?) Tell that to stox please, the one crowd collective that usually goes uP on a promise of cheap(er) for long(er) accessible(r) money.
In as much as Yellen's FED is doing its utmost to peddle its low interest for longer thereby preventing honest price discovery, the market is in the process of discovering what sort and how much of a liar is Janet.

USA - Tax Haven

So, when reading about all of the international celebrities, criminals and power brokers that got caught up in this scandal, donít forget that a great deal of this subterfuge happened, and is still happening, right in our back yard. Tax avoidance is big business in the U.S. and has been for quite a while.

USA - Tax Haven
How is this contradiction possible? The vast majority of the U.S.í international transparency efforts are largely one-way streets. Weíre adamant about receiving any and all information about potential assets hidden by U.S. citizens. However, when other countries come calling for the same information, the U.S. doesnít exactly leap to attention. For instance, the U.S. still hasnít signed on as a participant in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Developmentís (OECD) Common Reporting Standard (CRS), effectively an international and bilateral version of FATCA, marking it as one of the only large countries that hasnít acquiesced.

Don't Fight The Fed

dc CB 12:14 / Here is Ben again, shamelessly blathering that "so-called helicopter money could work". Well at least in "theoretical perspective".

What does not appear to cross Ben's mind is that the FED and its fiat money is a failure and an anti-thesis to "sound money".
It does not occur to him that his ideas could be viewed as plain stupid, particularly to folks who have to give up a solid day of honest work for a wage. Only to see their wage lose its purchasing power next day because Ben suggests to print up some more, deliver to select some and forgive "debt, which the Fed agrees to purchase and hold indefinitely". Is it any wonder that folks in the real economy do not swallow Ben's codswallop pushing the cretin into ever more marginal corners of economic astronomy theories ?

Week Ahead
For those who did not get our email, I suggest watching my outlook video and note the importance of EURUSD 1.14.

You can look at the market with your dollar cup half empty or half filled but what has been clear since early this year is the currency is struggling to regain momentum. As for the EURUSD, it remains within the 1.05-1.15 range that has existed for over a year (except for a very brief excursion to 1.1713) but there is potential for a run at the upside if 1.14 can be firmly taken out. See what may lie ahead in my outlook video posted below:

Trading Themes --
  • Japanese authorities turned up the heat in the forex markets Monday threatening overt forex intervention to contain the yen. I have no doubt that they have been active COVERTLY all along via their surrogates. Clearly one source of JPY demand has been coming from the unwinding of yen carry trades which had been financing equity purchases by overseas players.

  • Today sees a meeting of Fed Chair Yellen with President Obama on the economy. No post meeting announcements are scheduled. The Fed is already doing all it reasonably can to support the economy. Unoubtedly she will be telling the President that additional fiscal stimulus is required, and that there is not much more the central bank can do.

  • This week sees the start of earnings season for 1Q16 corporate activity. Markets will be looking in the aggregate how the economy has been performing.

11 Apr 2016 01:03GMT

USD/JPY - ...... Although dlr recovered ahead of Asian open on Monday after extending selloff from Friday's high of 109.10 to 107.83 at New Zealand open, intra-day decline in Nikkei (currently down 224.50 to 15,597) triggered another wave of buying in yen for risk aversion and pressured price lower again to 107.87 in Tokyo morning before moving sideways.

Today, focus in Asian session will be on the speech from Bank of Japan Governor Haruhiko Kuroda who will deliver speech at annual meeting of trust banks at 06:15GMT.
Later, despite the absence of economic reports from U.S., Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas President Robert Kaplan will participate in a moderated question-and-answer session before a community forum hosted by the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas at 17:00GMT.

At present, offers are reported at 108.10-20 and then 108.30-40 with mixture of offers and stops in the region of 108.60-80.
On the downside, bids are noted ahead of last Thursday's fresh 17-month trough at 107.67 with stops below there.
However, buying interest from various accounts are tipped further out in the region of 107.40-20.

Feel Sorry for the Head Grifters feel very very sorry AWWWW
Just pumping money into an economy is useless if companies and consumers donít spend it.

No heart is immune from the uplifting tale of the Little Engine That Couldóthat plucky optimist who, against the odds, saved the day by chugging a stranded train over a mountain.

So to be fair to Yellen, Draghi, and Kuroda, weíve expected too much from them. Central bankers simply canít solve our economic problems on their own, no matter how hard they try. Ultimately, the poor post-crisis recovery was the fault of political leadership. Central banks had the power and will to step into the breach, and they heroically took up the burden. But it proved too heavy. Their engines have just run out of steam.

Central Bankers Arenít Superheroes
