I heard a Grifter say
Reply
“If all major producers don’t freeze production, we will not freeze production,” said Prince Mohammed, 30, who has emerged as Saudi Arabia’s leading economic force.

“If we don’t freeze, then we will sell at any opportunity we get.”

“If prices went up to $60 or $70, that would be a strong factor to push forward the wheel of development,” Prince Mohammed said. “But this battle is not my battle. It’s the battle of others who are suffering from low oil prices.”

Prince Mohammed also said that Saudi Arabia isn’t concerned because “we have our own programs that don’t need high oil prices.”

It seems more than a few people "knew" nothing would come of this and that the epic squeeze-fest early this week was all false...

Crude Oil Poll Update: Buy the Rumor, Sell the Fact?

Here's the market problem w/ the Fed the last 10 years - they yak and we jump - 40 years ago the money supply was the only thing of interest from the Fed -- look around there is nothing they can really do - QE, NIRP-- Yellen wants inflation but doesn't know what inflation is /// these MOPES would be fired if they didn't work for the government

Crude Oil Poll Update: Buy the Rumor, Sell the Fact?

cb - my bias is ALWAYS that government employees haven't got a CLUE - so they can send all the letters they want but when the balloon goes up they always say "Nobody could have seen it" --- these folks are Monty Python's Spanish Inquisition writ large

Who cares about these mopes and their opinions? the Economy/business away from Wall Street is not paying attention - it moves along

The Minor Leagues are loaded with MOPES that can hit Fast Balls

Crude Oil Poll Update: Buy the Rumor, Sell the Fact?

the FED - FDIC letters went out to 3 US Banks last week --- Failing them in their Living Will schemes. Yellen has said at several of her Pressers post FOMC --- back when such questions were permitted--- that the FED was "working hard" on getting the Banks to submitt workable Living Wills, which were way beyond schedule...but but but Working Hard.

So those Letters bascially proved that all a lie, and the delay was just more BS.

Every other reason the PingPonger Talking Head Grifters present in the Raise/Not Raise is just a smoke screen to fill the business pages with BS. These Letters should be Front Page section A, but as noted have been basically ignored in leu of page after pager after page of What FED Talking Head Said this particular hour.

Yellen's (and Obama's and his heir Hillary) are only concerned about one thing. Those derivatives.

That's why all the US Media has unleashed the dogs on the two candidates who threaten to expose this scam.

Crude Oil Poll Update: Buy the Rumor, Sell the Fact?

said on Tuesday it has received notice from the Federal Reserve that it is authorized to open an account at the U.S. central bank, allowing it to better safeguard cash deposited by its traders.

Deposits in the account will be limited to clearing member proprietary margins, CME said in an advisory to its members. CME is working with the Chicago Fed to open the account and will let members know how much interest it will pay on balances "as we get closer to an account opening date."

CME, which operates one of the world's biggest derivatives clearinghouses and several exchanges including the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, applied for access to Fed services in 2014, after its clearinghouse was designated a "systemically important" financial institution as part of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street reform act.

On any given day CME holds billions of dollars of margins put up by traders to back their positions at the clearinghouse, although it is unclear how much of this will be deposited at the Fed. A CME Group spokeswoman declined to provide figures or further detail.

IntercontinentalExchange, CME's biggest U.S. rival, also has an account at the Fed to keep cash from its swaps traders.

Crude Oil Poll Update: Buy the Rumor, Sell the Fact?

Regarding the Oil sell-off.
The Doha (scam) Meeting is taking place on a weeked sees the Roll of NYMEX crude to a new month...May is off the boards Wed the 20th. With storage in the US filled to near capacity, the risk(of a GAP Down) of waiting for the results of Doha are too high to those holding that contract over the weekend.

Rather than watching the week old COT -- it's old when it comes out--- to play Oil one needs to monitor the Open Interest and the Deliverable Month expriation (always the 20th of the month).

Crude Oil Poll Update: Buy the Rumor, Sell the Fact?

The worst part of this oil scam is that Yellen has based US monetary policy on the "deflation" of one commodity
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
It's actually based on the fact that 4 US Banks are loaded to the gills with derivatives. And so are mutiple Euro/British banks.....In an election Year....what do you think those TWO "Special FED Meetings" were about this week. And Yellen's meeting with Obama.

Yesterday the Federal Reserve released a 19-page letter that it and the FDIC had issued to Jamie Dimon, the Chairman and CEO of JPMorgan Chase, on April 12 as a result of its failure to present a credible plan for winding itself down if the bank failed. The letter carried frightening passages and LARGE BLOCKS of REDACTED MATERIAL in critical areas, instilling in any careful reader a sense of panic about the U.S. financial system.

The Federal regulators didn’t say JPMorgan could pose a threat to its shareholders or Wall Street or the markets. It said the potential threat was to “the financial stability of the United States.”

Apparently, the Federal regulators believe JPMorgan Chase has a problem with the “location,” “size and positioning” of its liquidity under its current plan.

JPMorgan’s sprawling derivatives portfolio that encompasses $51 trillion notional amount as of December 31, 2015 is also causing angst at the Fed and FDIC.

JPMorgan Chase is only centrally clearing 37 percent of its derivatives while a whopping 63 percent of its derivatives remain in over-the-counter contracts between itself and unnamed counterparties.

Obviously the chart (below) shows the market had built their big CO longs several weeks ago. This shows you how far in advance the "smart money" tends to trade. We won't find out anything new about this week until to late today, so it won't really matter. Nevertheless, it is pretty clear that there is oil to be sold on a disappointment. I think longs have probably been trimmed in the latter part of this week.

Sometimes you feel like you are the only sane one in an insane asylum. Maybe it is just algo world but finally market woke up to the lowered expectations for the Doha meeting.

CAD crosses have unwound and stocks paying some notice to lower oil prices, where $40 is obviously pivotal.

EURUSD took out stops above 1.1295 (target resistance) but only by a few pips.

1.1300 is pivotal as it blocks key levels at 1.1325-45 while on the downside it needs to hold 1.1270-80 to keep a bid.

Not a market of strong convictions.

OIL - it's 25% above utility value - unless somebody cuts production every move above $40 is a scam - so DOHA is either priced in on "pre Agreement Announcement" or there will be further discussions as parties say "later" -- with interest at these bargain levels this is not the 1980's and the US producers will jump back in at $50

Trading Themes --
  • Crude Oil prices have continued to weaken into the OPEC meeting this weekend in Doha. Many feel they already have a good handle on the likely outcome of the meeting after reports of an agreement between Russia and Saudi Arabia to cap oil production. Odds are the global economy will remain over-supplied oil after this week-end.

  • Equity markets have corrected following the profit-taking trade into the weekend. The USDJPY has stabilized as markets try to discern a direction for oil. Keep in mind, the long-time close correlation between the two markets. Traders are also sensitive to recent threats by Japanese authorities to intervene to contain the strength of the currency.

  • Chinese 1Q16 GDP advanced +6.70% yr/yr, as widely expected. Analysts saw positive omens in the underlying data for economic growth. Due to the size of the economy, some see China a key engine for global economic expansion.

EUR/USD - ....... Although the single currency came under selling pressure at 1.1284 ahead of Asian open on Thursday and fell to 1.1254, then 1.1234 shortly after European open, short-covering lifted the pair, price rose to 1.1295 in New York before moving sideways.
Later, price tanked to 1.1248 in New York morning after release of better-than-expected U.S. initial jobless claims and then moved sideways for rest of the session.

Today, despite intra-day's gain in the greenback in Asian morning, cross-buying in euro vs yen suggests choppy sideways move above yesterday's low at 1.1234 would continue ahead of European open and therefore, investors can look to trade euro from both sides of the market in Asian session.

At the moment, bids are noted at 1.1250-40 and then 1.1230-20 with mixture of bids and stops at 1.1210-1.1190 region. On the upside, offers are reported at 1.1280-90 and more at 1.1300-10 with stops above 1.1320.

The Global-View Forex Forum is the hub for currency trading on the web. Founded in 1996, it was the original forex forum and is still the place where forex traders around the globe come 24/7 looking for currency trading ideas, breaking forex news, fx trading rumors, fx flows and more. This is where you can find a full suite of forex trading tools, including a complete fx database, forex chart points, live currency rates, and live fx charts. In addition, there is a forex brokers directory where you can compare forex brokers. There is also a forex brokers hotline where you can ask for help choosing a forex broker that meets your individual fx trading needs. Interact on the same venue to discuss forex trading.
