well me and Da Boys threw evertything we had at it this afternoon.

Casey Jones ran the 2:15 full throttle out of the station; we jammed crude; the PPT boys came in right on the dot at 3:30 and smashed the crap out of the VIX.

We failed to get the Dow green. But down 57 looks way better that down 177.

Credit Suisse estimated that bad loans in the final months of last year totaled nearly $128 billion, making up more than 11 percent of outstanding loans, and said India’s banking system had still more “unrecognized stress.”

The pain has rippled outside the country. Standard Chartered, a British bank, said in February that its India unit lost nearly $1 billion last year. The bank says it is selling problem loans.

Paris ib 15:34 GMT April 29, 2016
USD sell off PART II

I think we need to think outside the box and see the really, really big picture. Say the Japanese are repatriating, for their own reasons or because of a some increased concern about the U.S.A., say China has the same worries, throw in Saudi Arabia just for the h.ll of it. What you have is a real possibility (I'm not saying it's going to happen but you have to consider that it is certainly possible) that the USD and U.S. Treasuries fall out of favour (say mostly for geopolitical reasons or perhaps just because the USD's status as an international reserve currency has been dented) what you would need to watch for is a rise in U.S. yields as foreigners exit the market... but essentially what is possible is a debt spiral. And that means big trouble. If you were a foreign investor with a massive exposure to U.S. Treasuries what would you be doing now and where are your risks? One big risk associated with the U.S. is that your assets get frozen on some flimsy beat-up justification. Just look what happened to Iran. They are never going to get their billions back.

Unfortunately for the U.S. I think they squandered their status as the sole remaining global power and this is the result. And this latent 'rogue status' which is now associated with the U.S. (in the sense that they can freeze assets or start bombing nations pretty much on a whim) means that you should at least consider that the global geopolitical map has changed and changed radically. A Clinton Presidency would make things worse IMVHO. Trump might be better. :-)

Trying to be objective, dollar continues to struggle and EURUSD 1.13 sets its tone.

Currently, the 1.1310 area is pivotal with stops taken out above it but there is nothing worth noting on charts until 1.1400 so HOD (currently 1.1319) takes on added importance.

Stocks don't seem to care about weak earnings or weak growth, as yet at least. JPY still offered on crosses.

Risk of a Monday Effect week if EURUSD low set early Monday gets distanced.

GVI Forex Jay Meisler 12:06:08 GMT - 04/29/2016
EURUSD chart is clear, maintains a bid while above 1.1367, needs to establish 1.14+ and a firm break of the 1.1414 high to make a run at 1.1465.

Assume BoJ is in covertly, probably now below 107 but it is forced into a rear guard action now to smooth and slow, not reverse. Above 108 would be the goal if BoJ wants to cool a risk for 105.00-20

Trading Themes --
  • Tokyo narkets were closed on Friday and will see a number of closures in the week ahead for "Golden Week" holidays. The JPY remains in demand in the wake of the surprise decision by the Bank of Japan early Thursday to keep policy steady. Markets remain surprised that BOJ so badly misjudged market sentiment into the meeting. We assume the Bank of Japan has been in trying to put a floor under USDJPY.

  • Despite a poor March German Retail Sales report today, the EUR remains in demand. The USD is generally weak following a poor performane by U.S. stocks after investor Carl Ichan indicated that he had turned bearish on stocks yesterday and that had taken profits on his holdings in Apple due partially to worries about China.

  • Key Eurozone GDP and flash HICP data are due today. Both are key to future ECB policies. The Fed policy decision this Wednesday was to keep rates key steady as broadly expected. The U.S. focus is already on the June FOMC meeting. No specific policy guidance om that meeting was provided on Wednesday.

Obama fails to swing Britain behind EU as 'Out' takes lead - YouGov poll indicates

so folks are finally discovering that the US deep state has been there all along... giving a 'helping hand' .

Am I surprised by AMBROSE EVANS-PRITCHARD's call for "the Brexit camp should be laying out plans to increase UK defence spending by half to 3pc of GDP, pledging to propel Britain into the lead as the undisputed military power of Europe. They should aim to bind this country closer to France in an even more intimate security alliance. These sorts of moves would at least spike one of Project Fear's biggest guns." ?

Surprised: somewhat

Socialist paradise; 2 working days a week, full salary
Reply

The government in Venezuela has taken a drastic step to try and deal with the country's growing energy problems. It has initiated a two-day working week for all state employees. Public workers had already been working four days a week after officials made Fridays a no-work day two months ago. The country's 2.8 million public workers will now have five days off a week. President Nicolas Maduro addressed the nation in a televised statement, saying: "From tomorrow, for at least two weeks, we are going to have Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays as non-working days for the public sector." Employees were told they would still be paid in full, despite the greatly reduced working week.

Stop hunting?

Eurjpy is testing 121.8 level for the 3rd time in 2016, this level might still hold as it was a level untouch since 36 months ago during the 2013 breakout.

Stop hunting?

Usdjpy tested 107.8 level 4 times in April 2016 and finally broke that level to mark 107 flat on the last trading day in April. Wonder if this is a break out?

AceTraderFx Apr 29: Intra-Day Market Moving News and Views (USD/JPY)

29 Apr 2016 01:12GMT

USD/JPY - ...... Although dlr stabilized in o/n New York after falling the most in 5-year from 111.88 (Asia) to as low as 108.88 due to surprised BoJ's unchanged monetary policy decision, price had fallen again after meeting renewed selling at 108.20 ahead of Asian open and weakened to 107.75 in Tokyo morning.

Today's focus for the greenback will be on the release of a slew of U.S. data in New York session, these include Personal Consumption, Personal Income, PCE, Employment Cost, Chicago PMI, and University of Michigan Consumer Sentiment. Later, Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco President John Williams will give a panel presentation on 'Systemic Risk - Inevitable or Preventable?' before the Milken Institute 2016 Global Conference at 21:30GMT.

At present, stops below April's 17-month trough at 107.63 are now in focus.
However, bids from various accounts are tipped at 107.50-30 region with mixture of bids and stops at 107.20-00.
On the upside, offers are noted at 108.00-10 and then 108.20-30 with stops above 108.50.
