Iron ore price dips below $US50
Oversupply.
With a retracement in iron ore and oil back below USD 50 keep an eye on BHP share price.
There's a good positive correlation between the currency and BHP share price.
In April the correlation only broke down on three separate trading days and then on two of those days AUD change day on day was less than 10 points.

The price of iron ore has slid below $US50 for the first time since the end of February as investors fret about rising Chinese stockpiles and signs of a jump in marginal supply.
At the end of the latest session, iron ore delivered to the Port of Tianjin in China slipped 0.2 per cent to $US49.90 a tonne. It is the first time the commodity has traded below $US50 since the end of February.
The commodity has tumbled 12 per cent through a run of six sessions without a gain, with the downtrend kicked off by last week�s news stockpiles of iron ore at Chinese ports had risen above 100 million tonnes for the first time in over a year.

The Radcliffe Medal is presented annually to an individual who has had a 'transformative impact on society'. Yellen will receive hers "in recognition of her work in guiding the nation�s economy", how her "guiding the nation�s economy" is transformative is a mystery to me.
U can bet that their "conversation with Professor Gregory Mankiw" has been scripted and been rehearsed. Highly unlikely - no a certainty - that Gregory will not highlight such Yellen plums as "For my own part, I did not see and did not appreciate what the risks were with securitization, the credit ratings agencies, the shadow banking system, the S.I.V.�s � I didn�t see any of that coming until it happened." not so much to not embarrass Janet as not to embarrass Harvard and whose ever idea it was to chose Janet for the medal.

Knez i run an arm of the family biz so that takes precedence but i use mobile apparatus to stay on the ball and maintain a feel as well as setting some auto stop/profit trades. ill set some alerts and they basically run themselves. its v imp to maintain the feel of the mkt as it takes a couple of wks to get it back if interrupted. but i leave the trickies and bigger events for the desk.

chf coming off due to repricing of us rates and easing of brexit risk. both are subjective of course. tomorrow mkt will expect yellen to make ref to recent fed policy, that should cap euro advances. on the day will drive direction for close. she may be hesitant to be too hawkish given recent dollar advance and brexit risk. its actually not clear she will say anything at all (maybe june 6). if they want to do a summer hike they may prefer july. but mkt will still go into her speech tomorrow net long dollar. mkt tends to go in over egged with high(hawkish) expectations and then gets forced back by her dovishness.

JY- you make an excellent point. It seems to me that many of the news algos are primitive. They don't think. They just react to keywords. Also I have noticed they don't have a memory. With the advent of AI, this will not always be so. We are in what likely will only be a short period of time when we can profit on the naivety of the robots.

Trading Themes --
- A Key focus of trading today has been crude oil, which has tested to the $50
line in both Brent and WTI. The impact is largely psychological as the correlation
trades with equities recently have broken down. One impetus for trade has been
production disruptions for Chevron in Nigeria.
- The EURUSD continues to press modestly higher but so far has held below the
psychological 1.1200 line. EURUSD is up on what appears to be short-covering into long
weekends in the U.K. and U.S. The EUR is mostly higher on its crosses.
- The first revision of U.K. Q16 GDP saw the yr/yr reading marked down slightly. The
two-day G7 leaders summit in Japan is under way. We expect to hear noise on forex, but
no action.
- Interest is growing in the scheduled speech by Fed Chair Yellen at Harvard Friday
at 17:15 GMT. The hope is she will clarify the outlook for Fed policy heading into the
long U.S. weekend.
