BREAKING NEWS:

That's right, we can blame Woody for this mess that has devalued our fine currency by 5% (so far) this year. Yesterday, we got a peek behind the curtain at the Fed through the minutes of their July meeting which, frankly, were barely distinguishable from their Jan, March, April or June Meetings and will not likely vary much in Sept, Nov or December either but that doesn't stop the Financial Media from treating these monthly meetings and the minutes of the monthly meetings (16 times a year!) like they are some kind of Earth-shaking revelations – EVERY SINGLE TIME!

Of course, the Fed would never say "we're going to raise rates 0.25% in September" even though it is August 18th and you would think they would know by now but where's the fun in telling people your plans? It's so much more fun to watch them run around in circles trying to interpret all the hints you drop along the way. That's why, in addtion to 16 meetings and minutes, we have had over 200 Fed speeches this year – AND STILL WE KNOW NOTHING!

It's all Woody's fault

19-Aug FRI

Trading Themes --
  • The dust has settled on the minutes from the July 26-27 FOMC meeting and the general consensus appears to that Fed policy will continue to be cautious. Although a September rate hike is unlikely, it is still not completely out of the question. N.Y. Fed President Dudley disappointed markets Thursday when he had nothing new to say on Fed policy.

  • Nevertheless, Dudley downgraded the threshold for an acceptable rate of increase in monthly non-farm payrolls to 50-100K. The central bank seems to be doing all it can to justify an interest rate increase.

  • Traders continue to take the recent EURUSD bounce cautiously. I continue to feel that this sudden EUR demand might be related to repatriations generated by concerns about the capitalization of key banks in the EU. All we can continue to do is to let this play out.

  • July Australian employment data and U.K. July Retail Sales both beat the street estimates.

SO now he (FOMC?) is back on the unemployment rate BUT remember when a 6% rate was the magic number until it happened faster than the Fed expected

CHICAGO—Wild swings in the cattle futures market have prompted some traders to call it “the meat casino.”

In response, the world’s largest futures exchange has refused to list new contracts, leaving ranchers with fewer tools to hedge the $10.9 billion market. CME Group Inc. said that is because trading of physical cattle has become so scant that the futures market can’t get the signals it needs to set prices.

“It’s madness. The market makes major moves for no reason,” said Blake Albers, a cattle feeder in Wisner, Neb.

Some in the cattle industry blame high-frequency traders who can place or receive orders more quickly, and with more money, than bona fide commercial hedgers—often located in rural ranching communities.

But CME said that opening up markets to a diverse group of investors, including hedge funds and algorithmic traders, adds liquidity

“We need to figure out why the cattle market can go from $1.30 in one week to $1.15, when we haven’t added more cattle to the marketplace,” said Ed Greiman, an Iowa farmer who sells about 100 cattle a week and is leading a cattle-marketing committee at the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association.

Each futures contract represents the obligation to buy or sell 40,000 pounds, or around 35 head, of cattle.

Welcome to the ‘Meat Casino’!

China is reinforcing its military presence in the South China sea. And the adversary? The U.S. and its allies of course. Interesting confrontation given the Chinese U.S. Treasury war chest. What happens? Does China lose its dough? Russia has already offloaded all its U.S. Treasuries.

The Donald vs Hillary

"Donald Trump never actually wanted to be president of the United States.... So, on June 16 of last year, he rode down his golden escalator and opened his mouth. With no campaign staff, no 50-state campaign infrastructure — neither of which he needed because, remember, this wasn’t going to be a real campaign — ...And then... you can see the moment it finally dawned on him... that “Oh censored!” revelation: “I’m actually going to be the Republican nominee — and my rich beautiful life is f#*@ing over!” ..."

and that sounds just about right. What does it say about American politics? Nothing good when a reality star can run away with the nomination.. but it does mean that Hillary may win by default if the Donald manages to back out some way or other between now and November. Hillary is bad news in my opinion.... Strangely enough the Donald was the nearest thing to the average Joe they had....

USD implications? Bearish of course. You can't have this kind of electoral circus and expect to be taken seriously as a country. The reality star who doesn't want the job and the other candidate who doesn't do press conferences... just because.

What Trump really wants

Anemic and poor economic growth is a result of FED gang's low interest rates: that supports folks chasing yield, makes em make wrong investment allocation choices, yields to asset bubbles and low productivity numbers.

The so-called dedicated and diligent group of experts that yellen likes to gloat about that allegedly work for the benefit of Americans are loath to admit their collective mistake that is their low interest rate policy.

Note to Yellen and Jason Lange and Lindsay Dunsmuir: sound investment decisions come from folks savings. Always did. Always will.

"Federal Reserve policymakers agree that more economic data is needed before raising interest rates, although some see a need to tighten policy soon, according to the minutes from the U.S. central bank's July 26-27 policy meeting. The minutes, which were released on Wednesday, showed that members of the rate-setting Federal Open Market Committee were generally upbeat about the U.S. economic outlook and labor market.

"Some ... members anticipated that economic conditions would soon warrant taking another step in removing policy accommodation," the Fed said in the minutes..."

  • Now that the dust has settled on the minutes from the July 26-27 FOMC meeting, the general consensus appears to that Fed policy will continue to be cautious. Although a September rate hike is unlikely, it is still not completely out of the question. Fed Funds futures odds on a September rate hike were cut about in half afterwards to 15%. The Fed Minutes were not a game-changer.

Forex Forum

The Global-View Forex Forum is the hub for currency trading on the web. Founded in 1996, it was the original forex forum and is still the place where forex traders around the globe come 24/7 looking for currency trading ideas, breaking forex news, fx trading rumors, fx flows and more. This is where you can find a full suite of forex trading tools, including a complete fx database, forex chart points, live currency rates, and live fx charts. In addition, there is a forex brokers directory where you can compare forex brokers. There is also a forex brokers hotline where you can ask for help choosing a forex broker that meets your individual fx trading needs. Interact on the same venue to discuss forex trading.

Forex News

The forex forum is where traders come to discuss the forex market. It is one of the few places where forex traders of all levels of experience, from novice to professionals, interact on the same venue to discuss forex trading. There is also the GVI Forex, which is a private subscription service where professional and experienced currency traders meet in a private forex forum. it is like a virtual forex trading room. This is open to forex traders of all levels of experience to view but only experienced currency tradingprofessionals can post.

Currency Trading

Currency trading charts are updated daily using the forex trading ranges posted in the Global-View forex database. You will also find technical indicators on the fx trading charts, e.g. moving averages for currencies such as the EURUSD. This is another forex trading tool provided by Global-View.com.

Forex Brokers

The forex database can be used to access high, low, close daily forex ranges for key currency pairs, such as the EURUSD, USDJPY, USDCHF, GBPUSD, USDCAD, AUD, NZD and major crosses, including EURJPY, EURGBP, EURCHF, GBPJPY, GBPCHF and CHFJPY. Data for these currency trading pairs dating back to January 1, 1999 can be downloaded to an Excel spreadsheet.

Forex Trading

Forex chart points are in a currency trading table that includes; latest fx tradinghigh-low-close range, Bollinger Bands, Fibonacci retracement levels, daily forex pivot points support and resistance levels, average daily forex range, MACD for the different currency trading pairs. You can look on the forex forum for updates when one of the fx trading tools is updated.

FX Trading

Global-View also offers a full fx trading chart gallery that includes fx pairs, such as the EURUSD, commodities, stocks and bonds. In a fx trading world where markets are integrated, the chart gallery is a valuable trading tool. Look for updates on the Forex Forum when the chart gallery is updated.

Forex Blog

Global-View.com also offers a forex blog, where articles of interest for currency trading are posted throughout the day. The forex blog articles come from outside sources, including forex brokers research as well as from the professionals at Global-View.com. This forex blog includes the Daily Forex View, Market Chatter and technical forex blog updates. In additional to its real time forex forum, there are also Member Forums available for more in depth forex trading discussions.
