On his way out of office, the rotating head of the European Union Council called on EU leaders to stop letting citizens vote on important issues that could threaten the increasingly controversial super-state. Citing recent anti-establishment votes in Britain and Italy, the EU Council boss blasted the “adventures” of letting citizens decide the fate of their own nations in referenda.

BREAKING NEWS: U.S. Employment Data Mixed For December 2016 Mixed

During Obama’s two terms in office, the number of employed Americans reached its lowest point – 138,013,000 – in December 2009. Eight years later, in December 2017, 14,098,000 Americans have been added to the employment rolls.

When President Obama took office in January 2009, 80,529,000 Americans were not in the labor force, the highest number on record. That number rose steadily during his two terms, reaching a record 95,055,000 in November 2016, then setting another record (95,102,000) in December.

i would add in my view 2yrs spread fair value for euro 10530-50, while on the 10y spread, post trump think 10570-106. so not too far off. you want to see any spread moves stick otherwise ranges will cap after initial swing(s).

london red 11:40 GMT January 6, 2017

euro. price has pretty much been contained by prev high 10576 and daily kijun 10608. a break through 10616 and 24 should see a squeeze to 10650/70. further res at 107. daily charts need abv 107 for a higher high so any reversal, if to come, u expect will happen 10625/50/65 (pre fed high 70, xmas trade has seen 107 on ebs light vol elsewhere 50-65). sup at 10570/75 then at 10550 (hourly kijun). below there trend broken but more sup at 10511 then 10485/75. there is well over 2 yards expiring at both 105 and 107 today while straddles are quite cheap compared to avg nfp days at 55 pips eod while ny cut are 40 pips so they will be initial sup/res and can mark flash high/low on initial move if data is slightly off consensus but not enough to spark a followthru move.
daily techs for euro are mixed while st terms hourlies are showing further upside. data can change this, but you feel mkt may want to take profits on any usd bounce unless we get a v strong report. ahe are expected to bounce back to +0.3 so the bar here is high.

Forex Trading Ideas for 6 Jan 2017

Forex Trading Outlook

  • The main focus today is the December U.S. Employment report for December. With the Fed having hiked rates in mid-month, no impact on Jobs from the policy change is expected. Street estimates are for a rise of 175K in the month.

  • Markets currently price in one rate hike by mid-year. The current focus of trading is more on the incoming Trump administration than the Fed. Canadian December employment are due as well.

  • The USD gained against the Chinese yuan overnight, as apparently intervention continues by the PBOC to combat large capital outflows. Some are blaming PBOC activity for the recent instability in the USD.

AUS/USD - ..... Despite release upbeat Australian trade data, AUD showed muted reaction to this.
Reuters reported earlier Australia boasted its first trade surplus in almost three years in November as surging commodity prices boosted export earnings beyond all expectations, a much-needed windfall for mining profits, national income and tax revenues.

Friday's data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics showed a trade surplus of A$1.24 billion ($908.92 million)in November, far above forecasts of a A$500 million deficit.
Exports jumped by 8.4 percent, or a whopping A$2.3 billion, to top A$30 billion for the first time ever. Coal, iron ore and rural exports all enjoyed double-digit gains, while imports were unchanged on the month.

November's barnstormer ended a 31-month run of deficits and is likely a just a taster of more to come as prices for many key resources remain strong on the back of sustained Chinese demand.

The Global-View Forex Forum is the hub for currency trading on the web. Founded in 1996, it was the original forex forum and is still the place where forex traders around the globe come 24/7 looking for currency trading ideas, breaking forex news, fx trading rumors, fx flows and more. This is where you can find a full suite of forex trading tools, including a complete fx database, forex chart points, live currency rates, and live fx charts. In addition, there is a forex brokers directory where you can compare forex brokers. There is also a forex brokers hotline where you can ask for help choosing a forex broker that meets your individual fx trading needs. Interact on the same venue to discuss forex trading.

Forex News

The forex forum is where traders come to discuss the forex market. It is one of the few places where forex traders of all levels of experience, from novice to professionals, interact on the same venue to discuss forex trading. There is also the GVI Forex, which is a private subscription service where professional and experienced currency traders meet in a private forex forum. it is like a virtual forex trading room. This is open to forex traders of all levels of experience to view but only experienced currency tradingprofessionals can post.

You will also find technical indicators on the fx trading charts, e.g. moving averages for currencies such as the EURUSD. This is another forex trading tool provided by Global-View.com.
