Even the TRY managed a recovery - the EUR traded like it was Takeover Target

But the BIG news should be in bonds - anybody that thinks the Fed should be holding Treasurys with a maturity greater than a year is NUTZ - should have been and should be feeding demand

What happens when the new Prez actually tries to do something? NK, Iran, etc have a few days left to make something happen

Forex Trading Outlook

  • I was not sure what to expect from the Trump press conference Wednesday, but it certainly generated some substantial market volatility. The volatility appeared to stem from disappointment that the President-elect did not come up with statements that were supportive of the equity markets and this saw the USD fall after the markets had set up for a positive outcome.

  • Thurrsday's calendar is light again in the way of potential market-moving news. U.S. weekly Jobless Claims are always a key release for economists, but markets rarely find anything in the data at current levels to elicit price volatility.

  • Trump will be inaugurated as President one week from Friday, on January 20.

  • The top item of the week is retail sales data due on Friday. Next Monday, U.S. markets will be closed for the Martin Luther King Holiday. President-elect Trump will be inaugurated as President one week from Friday, on January 20.

Late in N.Y., U.S. equity markets are ending mostly higher in a volatile Trump-driven session. The yield on the 10-yr Note is a touch lower. In forex trade, the EUR is mixed on its crosses while the USD is mixed.

Brexit-shaken sterling hits 11-week low despite firm data -- Reuters.com
Reply
"LONDON, Jan 11 Data suggesting the British economy kept its momentum at the end of 2016 despite June's Brexit vote could not support sterling on Wednesday as worries over a "hard" departure from the EU sent it to an 11-week low.

Numbers showed industrial output rose 2.1 percent in November, recovering from a 1.1 percent drop in October and beating expectations for a 0.8 percent jump.

But despite initially inching higher on the data, the pound quickly gave up those gains, briefly dipping below $1.21 for the first time since Oct. 25 before recovering to $1.2124, leaving it down 0.4 percent on the day...

Forex Trading Outlook

  • The EURUSD is well off weakest levels from Tuesday after U.S. equities apparently stabilized by mid-afternoon in the U.S.

  • The major current focus of forex trade today is the first press conference in many months by President-elect Trump in many months. No doubt a largely hostile press will be trying to bait him into an inappropriate comment of some kind.

  • Trump will be inaugurated as President one week from Friday, on January 20.

  • The only data release of note today will be the latest EIA crude supplies. The top item of the week is retail sales data due on Friday. Next Monday, U.S. markets will be closed for the Martin Luther King Holiday.

Defining Stocks and Shares
Reply
What are Stocks and Shares
People can get easily confused in the financial market with all terms and data that bombard each individual on a daily basis. Stocks and Shares are two of the terms that are causing confusion in the financial market, because of the blurred distinction between the two.

These two words are used interchangeably to refer to the pieces of paper that signify ownership in a particular company, called stock certificates called a stock certificate but there is a tiny difference in the context.

The minor difference between stocks and shares has more to do with syntax rather than financial or legal factors, which is why most people ignore these slight differences. Stocks and shares are units of ownership in a corporation, company, or financial asset. These are documents that provide proof that a person holds an equal share in the company. However the differences in these terms are very subtle.

The Definition
Stock and shares, in general, is used to describe the ownership of an individual in the gains that a company mar experiences through the course of time. A Stock is the ownership of any company, while shares refer to the ownership certificates of a particular company. These are the subtle differences between stocks and share. This is why if someone says they own shares the follow-up question would always be in which company?

The bottom line is that stocks and shares are the same thing. There is little or no difference between Stock and shares, if there are differences it is too small to make a significant.

AceTrader Dec 11: Daily Recommendations on Major -EUR/USD

EUR/USD - 1.0557
Despite yesterday's initial brief break of last Friday's high at 1.0622 to 1.0627 in Asia, subsequent retreat to 1.0559 in Europe, then 1.0552 in New York afternoon session confirms early erratic rise from last Tuesday's near 14-year bottom at 1.0341 has indeed made a temporary top and a day of consolidation with near term downside bias is seen, reckon 1.0481/83 would contain weakness and bring subsequent rebound.

On the upside, expect 1.2600/04 to cap intra-day recovery and yield further decline and only above there may risk one more rise towards daily res at 1.2655 before prospect of a correction.

There is also a forex brokers hotline where you can ask for help choosing a forex broker that meets your individual fx trading needs. Interact on the same venue to discuss forex trading.

Forex News

The forex forum is where traders come to discuss the forex market. It is one of the few places where forex traders of all levels of experience, from novice to professionals, interact on the same venue to discuss forex trading. There is also the GVI Forex, which is a private subscription service where professional and experienced currency traders meet in a private forex forum. it is like a virtual forex trading room.
