Forex Trading Outlook

  • The USD is opened up the first week of the new Trump administration with a weak tone as the markets were preparing for the possibility of a new weak dollar policy. We will are taking this one tweet, at a time.

  • The major trend (down) in the EURUSD has ended. The key directional trend indicator that I like to follow is the 20-day moving average (1.0549). It bottomed and abruptly turned higher two weeks ago for the first time in a half-year. This abrupt change could explain the several bouts of EURUSD illiquidity in EURUSD as those running longer term positions have been forced to adapt to new realities. At 1.0549, the 20-day average is well below the current spot rate.

  • The Inaugural address of Donald Trump Friday surprised many as it was a populust speech thay sounded a lot like his campaign speech. While having been elected as a Republican, his policies are very much like those of a third-Party candidate. Expect him to govern as an anti-establishment chief executive.

  • The economic calendar on Tuesday includes a slew of flash January PMI's, a U.K. Supreme Court ruling on who can invoke Article 50, Parliament or the PM and U.S. Existing Homes Sales.

would agree with that. sell 12820-70 stop over 13400. last years high is 150, we shouldnt get anywhere near there, but in case of a black swan scenario. in any case mkt will quickly find its bearings and return to under 134. There should be no monthly close above 134 and likely not above 130. target initially below 120 then eventually parity. st keep selling rallies. tom we may get one although worst kept secret gov loses appeal. think if abv 12500/30 can see 127/128.

May meets Trump

PAR actually she (May) is as the leader of the conservative party been given via the referendum a resounding mandate to negotiate. The Supreme Court thing is a side show in that all that it forces is long winded parliamentary debate that will tire the public possibly into action. The mandate was clear. The UK has been lied to and cajoled ever since Churchill and if you remember the infamous Charles de Gaulle NON long before The Sun's equally infamous Up Your Delors headlines. Apart from which if you also remember Maggie was equally right when she cited the risk of a EU Federal State. The UK has never wanted to be a serf and holds since Magna Carta in 1215 the longest history of any nation of freedom and democracy. Make no mistake The UK Supreme Court and The House of Lords will try to essentially stall any negotiation but the mandate is clear
Cable Sell agressively 1.2850 and or any failure especially on a weekly degree < 1.2375

Forex Trading Outlook

  • The USD is opening the new week with a weak tone as the markets adjust to new U.S. leadership and possibly a new dllar policy. We will be taking this one day, or tweet, at a time.
  • Its looking as though the major trend in the EURUSD (down) has lost its way. A key trend indicator that I like to follow is the 20-day moving average. Over the past two weeks it has bottomed and abruptly turned higher for the first time in a half-year. This abrupt change in direction is also visible in the spot market and might explain in part the several bouts of illiquidity in EURUSD as those running longer term positions have been forced to adapt to new realities. At 1.0549, the 20-day average is well below the current spot rate and is well out of synch with current conventional wisdom about where EURUSD should be headed.

  • The Inaugural address of Donald Trump Friday surprised many by its lack of broad trends and inspirational themes. Instead it was a populust speech thay sounded a lot like his campaign speech. In so doing, he broke with recent tradition for incoming presidents. While having been elected as a Republican, his policies are very much like a third-Party candidate. Expect him to govern as an anti-establishment chief executive.

  • Monday's economic calendar is exceptionally light, but the calendar picks up as of Tuesday. In s speech late Thursday at Stanford University, Fed Chair Yellen comments on the economy and policy remained cautious. She sees little sign that the economy is overheating and indicated a cautious Fed is not behind the curve.

EUR/USD extended gains to fresh session high of 1.0750 as the unwinding of the Trump trade gathered pace.

The spot now trades more than 200 pips above the last month’s closing price of 1.0517. This forces us to consider the possibility of the pair snapping the three-month losing streak.

AceTrader Jan 23: Intra-Day Market Moving News and Views USD/JPY
Reply
23 Jan 2017 05:00GMT

USD/JPY - ..... The pair tumbles in Monday's Asian trading due to broad-based USD weakness as well as renewed yen-buying on risk aversion.

Price opened lower in New Zealand following dlr's decline in post-Trump inauguration New York session as traders reacted negatively to Trump's rhetoric of 'protectionism' in his inauguration speech and yen was bot broadly as safe-haven currency in Australia, intra-day decline accelerated as the Nikkie also fell in Tokyo morning.

The fact that price is trading just above Asian morning low of 113.44, suggesting downside bias remains for further weakness as traders are expecting further fall when European markets open.
Therefore, selling the greenback on recovery is the way to go.
Offers have been lowered to 113.90/00 n more above with some stops above 114.25.
Initial bids are noted at 113.50-45 with stops below 113.20, more stops are touted below 113.00.

No U.S. eco. data are due out today, suggesting technical trading will have a strong influence on intra-day price swings n near term technicals look a bit ugly for the buck.
