A bad neighborhood -
"Turkey has reacted with anger after a Greek court ruled against extraditing eight Turkish soldiers accused of involvement in an attempted coup."

NATO "allies", Merkel's "Get out of Jail Free" deal and Erdogan still wants Gulen -- Turkey just had foreign minister meeting w/ Russia and Iran -- Russia would like Merkel to disappear and a flood of immigrants might do the trick

A BULLY pulpit indeed --
The MXN has declined against the USD thru thick and thin for the last 20 yrs (not counting the period b4 the Nuevo) - the companies (e.g., VW) in Mexico that avail themselves of "cheap" labor are not all Mexican but they are large employers - SO the international companies have been locating right next door to US market instead of IN USA

RE: immigration -- many of the folks crossing the US/Mexican border are not Mexican but Central American "refugees" -- Mexico would not tolerate the southern border intrusion except they are just "passing thru" (the Mexicans are a lot more "tetchy" about who gets to stay in MEXICO than the US) // the Statue of Liberty does not symbolize US immigration policy for the 19th and MOST of the 20th Century - check with the Chinese
_______
ON DEBT - McCain and McConnell are both blowing smoke about the Budget - watch the Philadelphia Convention to see where the Republicans "might" be willing to go as opposition (the Conservatives, if they behave, get their first bone next week in the Supreme Court nominee)

USD/JPY - 113.78
Despite the greenback's resumption of erratic decline from December's 10-1/2 month peak at 118.66 to a fresh 7-week trough at 112.53 on Tuesday, subsequent strong rebound to 113.99 yesterday suggests a temporary low has been made there and consolidation with mild upside bias would be seen.
However, resistance at 114.54 should remain intact and yield another fall later this week.

On the downside, only below 112.90 would indicate aforesaid recovery has ended instead and turn outlook bearish for a re-test of aforesaid support.

Forex Trading Outlook

  • The EURUSD remains capped at around the 1.0750 area as the pair seems to have reached an equilibrium leval at the 1.0700 to 1.0750. This is unlikely to last for long as U.S. equities anf bond yields continue to press higher. The pressures from such cannot last for long. U.S. data today should have no lasting impact on prices.

  • The equity rally triggered by infrastructure spending decisions by President Trump on Tuesday persists. Further announcements could continue to fuel rising equities and weigh on the EURUSD.

  • The U.K. Supreme Court upheld High Court ruling affirming that Parliamentary approval is needed to invoke Article 50, which puts Brexit into motion. This decision should not impact the Brexit timetable.

cable. a few things. since clearing 124/125 and the 100dma the mkt is seeking 12775/12850. todays gdp may see some more upside if comes in 0.5/0.6. at 12698 is the 61.8 of 150 and the true low 11491. since we havent traded in yesterdays range, there is a risk the mkt loses todays gains and does some backfilling. in the case of no backfilling you should see a breakout bar which could take us towards 12775 prev high. mkt is still short and may trump wknd meeting may cause more to close prior to the meet which is already seeing some trump tweets in relation to it. all considered a fade at 12698 with a tight stop should yield a small gain which may or may not turn into something larger but i dont think we will see much sustained downside this side of the weekend, we may even need to do a strong close on the month before ending next month lower.

How CUD The World of "Investing" Be Wrong...Big Time

Here's a list of the Trump administration's actions in its first 72 hours:
1. Taken over running of the entire federal government.
2. Issued an executive order aimed at rolling back former President Barack Obama's Affordable Care Act.
3. Halted a reduction to the annual mortgage insurance premiums borrowers pay when taking out government-backed home loans.
4. Ordered agencies to freeze new regulations, giving the new administration time to review them.
5. Received a key legal OK from the Justice Department for Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner to take on a role in the White House.

1. Met with the CIA, where he addressed employees. Trump also took over the nuclear codes

2. Trump's nominee for CIA director, Kansas Rep. Mike Pompeo, contradicted his earlier testimony and said he was open to revisiting limits on interrogation techniques including waterboarding if his intelligence officers think it is needed.
3. Raised the specter of another conflict in Iraq, with Trump expressing regret for not taking over the country's oil and telling the CIA, "We should have kept the oil. Maybe we'll have another chance."
4. Spoke to the Mexican president and said the two will meet at the end of January.
5. Spoke to the Canadian prime minister about the two nations' economic relationship.
6. Announced he has meetings with leaders in Mexico and Canada to begin re-negotiating NAFTA.
7. Announced his first foreign leader meeting will be Friday with the United Kingdom Prime Minister Theresa May.
8. Signaled a shift in the Justice Department's civil rights efforts when it requested a delay in the lawsuit over a Texas law requiring voters to present certain types of government-issued IDs.
9. Prepared to issue more executive orders this week.

USD/JPY - ...... Despite initial weakness to 113.06 shortly after Tokyo open as short-term specs sold the pair in Australia following o/n weakness in New York afternoon, rally in the Nikkie (N225 currently at 19305, up by 1.3% after rise in the Dow, S&P 500 and NASDAQ to record highs on Wednesday) in early Tokyo morning trade boosted risk sentiment lifted the pair, suggesting choppy range trading is set to continue in Asia.

Having said that, anticipated usd's broad-based weakness suggests selling dlr on intra-day rebound is the way to go as Wed's several upside attempts to push price above 113.90 failed and ended with subsequent strong retreat.

Offers are tipped at 113.65/75 n more at 113.90/00 with stops reported above 114.10.
Initial bids are noted at 113.10-00 with stops below 112.90, however, more buying interest is reported above 112.50.

The Global-View Forex Forum is the hub for currency trading on the web. Founded in 1996, it was the original forex forum and is still the place where forex traders around the globe come 24/7 looking for currency trading ideas, breaking forex news, fx trading rumors, fx flows and more. This is where you can find a full suite of forex trading tools, including a complete fx database, forex chart points, live currency rates, and live fx charts. In addition, there is a forex brokers directory where you can compare forex brokers. There is also a forex brokers hotline where you can ask for help choosing a forex broker that meets your individual fx trading needs. Interact on the same venue to discuss forex trading.

Forex News

The forex forum is where traders come to discuss the forex market. It is one of the few places where forex traders of all levels of experience, from novice to professionals, interact on the same venue to discuss forex trading. There is also the GVI Forex, which is a private subscription service where professional and experienced currency traders meet in a private forex forum. it is like a virtual forex trading room. This is open to forex traders of all levels of experience to view but only experienced currency tradingprofessionals can post.

Currency Trading

Currency trading charts are updated daily using the forex trading ranges posted in the Global-View forex database. You will also find technical indicators on the fx trading charts, e.g. moving averages for currencies such as the EURUSD. This is another forex trading tool provided by Global-View.com.

Forex Brokers

The forex database can be used to access high, low, close daily forex ranges for key currency pairs, such as the EURUSD, USDJPY, USDCHF, GBPUSD, USDCAD, AUD, NZD and major crosses, including EURJPY, EURGBP, EURCHF, GBPJPY, GBPCHF and CHFJPY. Data for these currency trading pairs dating back to January 1, 1999 can be downloaded to an Excel spreadsheet.
